Abstract

Abstract - Merbau is one of the high-quality timber tree with the demanding of international market increase every year. However, the over-exploitation of the tree put merbau as a vulnerable species in the future years. Moreover, seedling production of merbau using traditional technique showed several limitations  due to the low number of seed production every year. One of the most promising technique for mass seedling production of merbau is using shoot-tip culture. However, the protocol of shoot-tip culture is remain under develop with low success rate of shoot induction (less then 15 %), without protocols on shoot multiplication, root induction and acclimatisation. Our research at the Laboratory of Botany and Genetics, University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto showed that the axillary buds isolated from 1-month seedlings can be maintained to induce shoot formation and elongation on the DKW medium (Driver and Kuniyuki, 1984) supplemented with 10-8 M kinetin. Two new shoots started to elongate from each explant after 4 weeks culture (60 % success rate) with each shoot has the lenght of c.a. 4 cm and 4 internode. The inducted shoots were then cut them of into four new axilary buds and subcultured onto the same medium every two week for shoots multiplication. The next step of shoot-tip culture technique, root induction and acclimatization stages is remain developed. Keywords : kinetin, shoot-tip culture,multiplication,micropropagation.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to increase the students’ critical thinking through inquiry learning. This research was a classroom action research with 3 cycles conducted from March until April 2015. Each cycle consisted of 4 phases, i.e. planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The participants of the research are 34 students of grade XI MIA 6 SMAN 4 Surakarta. Data was obtained from questionnaire, multiple choices test, and interview. The main data of the students’ critical thinking includes several aspects as follows: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Data was analyzed descriptively, and validated using a triangulation method. The research procedure used was the spiral method by Kemmis and Mc.Taggart. The result of the research shows that inquiry learning increased the students’ critical thinking. The student’s critical thinking from the pre cycle is 35,04 %, the first cycle is 42,40 %, the second cycle is 51,71 %, the third cycle is 63,97 %.Keywords: Inquiry Learning, Critical Thinking, System of  Senses

Abstract

Spirullina  spp. merupakan tumbuhan air yang berukuran mikroskopik, memiliki berbagai potensi yang dapat dikembangkan sebagai sumber pakan, pangan, industri  farmasi, dan makanan suplemen dengan kandungan protein, karbohidrat, lipid, dan berbagai macam mineral serta digunakan dalam pengolahan limbah logam berat sebagai pengikat logam dan dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi alternatif untuk biodiesel. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak tauge, bekatul dan ekstrak kulit pisang sebagai medium tumbuh pada kultivasi Spirullina spp. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan air laut sebagai medium kontrol (-)  dan Zarrouk sebagai medium kontrol (+) serta ektrak tauge, bekatul dan ekstrak kulit pisang masing-masing dengan konsentrasi 15% (perlakuan 1 : 150 ml ekstrak + 750 ml air laut + 100 ml spiru), 30% (perlakuan 2 : 300 ml ekstrak + 600 ml air laut + 100 ml spiru) dan 45% (perlakuan 3 : 450 ml ekstrak + 450 ml air laut + 100 ml spiru) dengan 3 kali ulangan. Dari hasil screening, Spirullina spp. tumbuh baik pada medium medium kontrol (-) dan kontrol (+) dan bekatul pada semua ulangan dengan laju peningkatan densitas 0.16, 0.057, 0.314, 0.261, dan 0.106. Hasil uji kandungan Spirullina spp dari 1L kultur Bekatul Perlakuan 1 (PB1) diperoleh berat kering 49.40663% dengan protein sebesar 19.9682%, lemak 4.895633% dan karbohidrat 24.5428%. PB2 diperoleh berat kering 29.75523% dengan protein sebesar 12.70963%, lemak 5.053867% dan karbohidrat 11.99173%. PB3 diperoleh berat kering 55.79287% dengan  protein sebesar 42.09023%, lemak 6.271949% dan karbohidrat 7.430684%. Perlakuan kontrol (-) diperoleh berat kering 32.9367% dengan protein sebesar 3.1159%, lemak 3.110133% dan karbohidrat 26.71067%. Dan perlakuan  kontrol (+) diperoleh berat kering 76.06407% dengan protein sebesar 40.66107%, lemak 9.274067% dan karbohidrat 26.12893%.  Kata kunci : Bekatul, Kulit Pisang, Kultivasi, Spirullina Spp, Tauge

Abstract

ABSTRAK Fenomena merosotnya nilai-nilai perilaku masyarakat yang diaktualisasikan melalui kecenderungan perilaku non-edukatif semakin memprihatinkan, seperti: kekerasan, anarkhis, pornografi, korupsi, aksi terorisme, hingga berbagai modus kejahatan melalui sistem teknologi informasi. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa upaya pembangunan karakter melalui pengembangan nilai-nilai etika yang diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah belum berhasil, masih banyak guru di berbagai jenjang pendidikan mengajar biologi dengan metode ceramah, tekstual dan kurang berbasis proses ilmiah. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya karena pemahaman guru yang kurang benar terhadap biologi itu sendiri, akibatnya biologi belum diajarkan sesuai dengan hakikat pembelajarannya yang mengacu pada proses dan produk melainkan hanya sebagai produk (content).Pembelajaran biologi berbasis keterampilan proses merupakan pembelajaran yang mengembangkan berbagai keterampilan seperti: mengamati (observation), mengelompokkan (classification), menafsirkan (interpretation), meramalkan (prediction), mengajukan pertanyaan (question), berhipothesis (hipothesis), melakukan percobaan (experiment), mengkomunikasikan hasil percobaan (communication), sehingga peserta didik dapat memiliki pengalaman beraktivitas yang melibatkan keterampilan kognitif (minds on), keterampilan manual atau psikomotor (hands on) dan keterampilan sosial (hearts on). Melalui pembelajaran biologi berbasis keterampilan proses diharapkan dapat dikembangkan berbagai sikap ilmiah seperti: kesabaran, kejujuran, ketelitian, rasa tenggang rasa, dll., yang merupakan modal dasar dalam membangunan karakter peserta didik.  Namun, menerapkan pembelajaran biologi berbasis keterampilan proses memerlukan dukungan kesiapan guru, baik dalam menentukan strategi maupun instrumen pembelajarannya.        Kata kunci: Pembelajaran biologi berbasis keterampilan proses, sikap ilmiah, karakter peserta didik.

Abstract

Purwodadi Botanic Garden is an ex-situ plant conservation area that has a collection of plants for conservation, research, education, tourism and environmental services. Where the main characteristic of a botanic garden is the availability of documented collections of plants, equipped with seed and herbarium as supporting collections. Purwodadi Botanic Garden has routine activity to carry out exploration as a conservation effort. Exploration and plants collection activities aiming at conservation to save plants from extinction, as well as conducting research and documentation of plant diversity in that area. Sempu Island as a nature reserve has a diversity of ecosystem types and the diversity of flora and fauna that is endemic and unique. In this study aim to find out the plant monitoring of the Sempu Island exploration results that carried out in 2015 and 2016. This is a descriptive study, base on primary data from garden observation and secondary data from registration unit.From the plant exploration results obtained 518 numbers collection with a total number of plant materials were 2207 specimens divided into five teams, each of which amounted of number collection are 163; 111; 120; 112; and 12. From plant monitoring in 2017 and 2018 show that Sempu Island exploration result was planted in Garden 155 number collection. Its means that 45% from exploration become plant collection in Purwodadi Botanic Garden.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of biology learning in SMP Negeri 3 Semanding such as teacher still using lecture method, consequently less interesting students follow the learning process and result in low learning result. One to overcome these problems is to use cooperative script learning.The purpose of this research is to describe student learning outcomes through coopertive script learning, teacher activity and student activity during application of cooperative script.The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with research subjects class VII-B SMP Negeri 3 Semanding Tuban. Data analysis used is quantitative and qualitative data. Instrument in this research use observation sheet, and post test problem of cycle I and cycle II is used to know masip student mastery of learning material to applying cooperative script learning.Based on the analysis of data obtained during the implementation of Cooperative script learning model, then the results of research can be described that the results of student learning during cooperative script learning progress, in cycle I with an average of 70 percentage 62.5% said classical mastery has not been achieved, cycle II obtained an average of 80.2 with the percentage of classical completeness 83.3% and can be said that the classical completeness of student learning outcomes achieved. Activity of teacher with cycle I obtained 67,5% in cycle II is obtained 86,25%, while at activity of student in cycle I obtained 63,75% and in cycle II 85%, can be said student activity and activity of teacher also experience penenance.Based on the analysis result that cooperative script learning model is effectively applied in class VII-B SMP Negeri 3 Semanding Tuban Lesson Year 20017/2018.

Abstract

Advancement of science and technology requires people to be able to compete in sustaining life. Therefore, human resource through education can be improved and developed to be a quality resource. It can be seen from the achievement of learning achieved by students. Learning is good, when most students acquire learning outcomes as expected. But in fact, these efforts have not been done in the field with the maximum. This quasi-experimental study aimed at revealing the influence of the learning strategy PQ4R integrated concept maps on the biology of cognitive learning outcomes, the influence of gender on cognitive learning outcomes, as well as the interaction effect PQ4R integrated learning strategy map concept and gender on cognitive learning outcomes of students. The design of this study pretest-posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design ". Data collection dependent variable through the essay test. Cognitive learning outcomes assessment refers to Hart (1994). Data were analyzed with Anacova. The results showed that the learning strategy affects the outcome of cognitive learning. Gender differences have a significant influence on the cognitive achievement of students in class XI science high school in the city of Banjarmasin. Furthermore, there was no interaction effect of learning strategy and gender on cognitive learning outcomes of students in class XI science high school in the city of Banjarmasin.Keywords: PQ4R, Concept maps, cognitive learning, son, daughter

Abstract

This study aims to describe senior high school student’s critical thinking ability who has been taught through model of PBL integrated lesson study. This study is carried out in six stages: (1) preliminary study of learning condition; (2) the development of hypothetical strategies; (3) tryout in order to validate training strategy and prototype of PBL instruments; (4) modelling; (5) implementation; and (6) experiment in order to test the practicality and the effectiveness of training strategy. The teacher training strategy in this study is described in lesson study on the other hand, student training strategy is described in PBL learning in the classroom. PBL learning activity integrated lesson study is carried out for six cycle (six lesson plan). The results of the study shows that; (1) the implementation of PBL integrated in Lesson Study can improve student achievement in critical thinking, (2) student achievement in critical thinking for six cycle has improved from cycle to cycle. PBL barriers are mainly caused by limited of IT facilities and the study time allocation. The results showed that the teachers and students training strategy through model of PBL integrated lesson study can improve teacher's skills to design and manage PBL, improve students’ performance critical thinking.Keywords:        training of teachers and students, PBL, lesson study

Abstract

The aim of this research to determine the implementation of group investigation with media gadget on student activeness XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta year 2017/2018. Subjects in this study were students of SMA Negeri 4Surakarta class XIScience 4 with the number of 31 students.This research is classroom action research that refers to the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models that include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities in each cycle. The main data is the result of student activation observation during the learning process with cooperative group investigation learning model. Validation of data using triangulation method.Data analysis using qualitative descriptive consisting of three stages of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion.This classroom action research is carried out in two cycles, with each cycle being two meetings. The results showed that group investigation cooperative learning model with media gadgetis able to improve the student activenessXI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta year 2017/2018 before action 41%, first cycle is 60%, second cycle is 78%.

Abstract

Parasitology is the study of living organisms as parasites in humans and their relationship as causes of disease, disorders and death. In the course of parasitology, students are faced with the problem of some diseases by parasites that are widely circulated in society, so students are required to have a broader knowledge of a disease caused by parasitic organisms. Thus, the ability of literacy attitude is needed. Literacy of science is an important ability to support the ability to explain and apply science in life. However, in fact the ability of science literacy has not been trained properly. For that done a research in improving the attitude of science literacy in students. This study aims to analyze the improvement of science literacy attitude aspect in biology education students through the application of problem based learning model (PBL) in the course of parasitology. This study is a quasi experiment with non-equivalent pretest research design and posttest control group desaign. The sample of this study consists of 36 students who take the course of parasitology. Technique of data collecting is done by using scale scale of science literacy attitude which arranged by likert scale. Data analysis used SPSS 22 program. The result showed that the N-gain class of experiment and control class were in medium category (0,56 and 0,44). It can be concluded that the learning model of Problem Based Learning can improve the science literacy aspect in biology education students who take the course of parasitology.
