Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve students active participation through the aplication of the learning cycle 5E model in class X-3 SMAN Gondangrejo in academic year 2015/2016. This research was a classroom action research with two cycles conducted from March until April 2016. Each cycle consisted of 4 phases, i.e. planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The participants of the research are 37 students of grade X-3 SMAN Gondangrejo Karanganyar. Data was obtained from observation, documentation, and interview. The main data of active participation includes several aspects as follows: question, opinions, and discussion. Data was analyzed descriptively, and validated using a triangulation method. The research procedure used was the spiral method by Kemmis and Mc.Taggart. The result of the research shows that learning cycle 5E increased the students’ active participation.. Observations show that the number of students who asked questions on pre-action of three students, or 8%, the first cycle of 10 students or 27%, and the second cycle 20 students or 54%. Students who express opinions on the pre-action as much as four students, or 10%, the first cycle of 15 students or 40%, and the second cycle 19 students or 51%. The average score of student participation in discussions on pre-action was 2,17 points, the first cycle of 2,79 points and the second cycle of 3,65 points.Key Words : learning cycle 5E, active participation, questions, opinions, discussion

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan bahan ajar ilmu kesehatan dan gizi (Health and Nutrition) dan mengaplikasikannya dalam pembelajaran melalui lesson study guna meningkatkan kualitas belajar dari aspek interaksi mahasiswa serta hasil belajar mahasiswa.Penelitian dilakukan dengan kegiatan penyusunan buku ajar Ilmu Kesehatan dan Gizi (Health and Nutrition) serta diimplementasikan melalui lesson study.  Proses lesson study melalui tahapan  pembentukan tim, perumusan tim apa yang akan dibelajarkan pada mahasiswa, penyusunan disain pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran, analisa pembelajaran dan pengulangan tahap pembelajaran dengan perbaikan.   Efektivitas adanya buku ajar diketahui melalui aspek pengamatan interaksi mahasiswa  dalam proses pembelajaran serta hasil belajar.Berdasar hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada akhir penelitian telah dihasilkan luaran buku ajar IKG (Health and Nutrition) yang telah diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran melalui lesson study dan diketahui efektif meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dari aspek interaksi mahasiswa (mahasiswa antar mahasiswa, mahasiswa dengan dosen, mahasiswa dengan media) serta peningkatan hasil belajar (100% mahasiswa tuntas mencapai hasil belajar di atas 70) Kata kunci : bahan ajar, lesson study, Ilmu Kesehatan dan Gizi, Health and Nutrition

Abstract

This research aims to find out the adsorption capability of combination of rice husk andbagasse fly ashas Cu metal adsorbent in batch system. The methode of research included preparation of materials, activation of materials using HCl and NaOH solutions, characterization test using SEM, FTIR, and AAS. Determination of surface structure of rice husk and bagasse fly ash adsorbent using SEM instrument.Determination of functional group of rice husk and bagasse fly ash adsorbent using FTIR instrument.Determination of adsorption capacity test of rice husk and bagasse fly ash as adsorbent on variation of adsorbent composition, adsorbent mass, adsorbate concentration using AAS instrument. The results showed that rice husk and bagasse fly ash can be used as adsorbent because there were pores on surface structur of rice husk and bagasse fly ash.  There is OH function group at wave number 3424,75968 cm-1 and Si-O function group from Si-O-Si at the wave number 1048,3565 cm-1 in combination of rice husk and bagasse fly ash adsorbent, the optimum composition ratio of rice husk and bagasse fly ash adsorbent was 1:2 with the precentage of 97%  adsorbed Cu and adsorption capacity is 0,9164 mg/g, the optimum adsorbent mass in Cu adsorption was 0,2 g with the precentage of 99,77% adsorbed Cu, and  the optimum concentration of adsorbate was 10,1984 mg/L with the precentage of 97,22% adsorbed Cu and adsorption capacity 0,4958 mg/g. The isotherm of adsorption pattern follows the Langmuir isotherm wich means the adsorption process tends chemically.

Abstract

Lack of student awareness and participation in environmental sustainable management is caused in learning natural science has not provided a deeper portion of the formation of critical thinking skills and character building care about the environment.To provide a sufficient portion of the problem is done with the integration of environmental and ethical application of project assessment in learning natural science. Objectives to be achieved are 1) Develop a learning model integration of environmental ethics and  assessment project in learning Natural science, 2) Whether  the application learning models of environmental ethics and  assessment project in learning Natural science can increase student participation and awareness in environmental sustainable management ?Results of study are 1 ) Outline of the Learning Model, This learning model focused on how the application of environmental ethics of ethics "thank-you" with the assumption that building ethical relationship between humans and the environment. Human  who was accept all  needs of the environment must provide a response in the form of a sense of "love" to the environment. The realization of this character is a sense of caring, loving and arbitrarily against fellow beings and the environment.While the application of project assessment focuses formation of character in the form of critical thinking skills of observation, exploration, find a hypothesis, generalization and inquiry . 2) Development of learning objectives Model, Ethics and character development of students to participate and care about the environment through learning that is a mind on to  hand on shift, the goal is the building  of character expected of students who have the skills to think critically and be able to apply environmental ethics in everyday behavior through application of ethics "thank-you "in appreciating the relationship between living things and the environment 3) Model implementation of learning in the classroom,Application of learning models and the integration of environmental ethics in project appraisal given in class 7A SMP N 1 Klaten  school year 2011/2012 in semester 2.The objective of this model is  to know the level of participation and awareness of students on the environment. To determine the level of student participation and awareness of the environment is done by Daily observations of student behavior through peer assessment,Giving questionnaires and Implement the program "foster plant ". This program assigns students to grow plants in pots and kept in the school. Species is determined by the group and each student gets a small one plant.The application of such models in the study with the following results; 1) Daily behavioral observations 7A graders have changed hygiene behavior, especially in the classroom, responsibility in the completion of tasks, saving electric and water  and care plant   fosterage and other plants that exist in schools. Giving results of the questionnaire on the students obtained the level of awareness and participation of students on the environment reached 51.56% (cycle 1) and 77.3% (cycle 2) with the level of awareness and participation rates of students on the environment at a high level.2 )Foster the implementation of the plant in early trials of many plants which die, especially in boys. After the student is given motivation and guidance about what it has given plants on living things and how to apply any intelligent human ethics "thank-you" then the next month going enhancing students' awareness and participation for  foster care  and maintain our plant.  Keywords: environmental ethics, project assesment , participation, the management of sustainable environment.

Abstract

The Application of new regulations in the UMS is 2 SKS likes 100 minutes imposed on schedule online cause practical implementation in the education department of biology FKIP UMS academic year (TA) 2012/2013 unchanged unlike the previous year. This resulted in the practicuml implementation of the system changes from the planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation of learning lab system that can affect to the student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the Animal Anatomy lab in biology laboratories of the academic year 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 based on the end of the value of the final practicum. This type of research is descriptive quantitative test effectiveness ratio to determine how much percentage rate target is achieved above the target set in the practicum implementation Anatomy Animals (AH) at TA 2011/2012 and TA 2012/2013 and Mann-Whitney test (non-parametric ) to determine differences in effectiveness between the implementation of AH practical at TA 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 in terms of the value of the final practicum. Sources of data in this study were obtained through the techniques of documentation by gathering data on their respective academic year. The results of the test showed that the ratio of the effectiveness ratio was 122.34% in TA 2011/2012 and the effectiveness ratio was 145.56% in TA 2012/2013. An activity is said to be effective if  the ratio of the effectiveness is reaches above one hundred percent. The results of Mann-Whitney test showed that the probability value is 0.000 <0.05, then H0 is rejected it means that there is no significancy differences in the effectiveness between of implementation AH practicum in biology lab UMS in academic year 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 based on of the value of the final practicum, It can be concluded that, the implementation AH practical in biology lab FKIP UMS at TA 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 have been effective, but there are significant differences in the effectiveness between the implementation AH practicum at TA 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 based on the value of the final practicum.Keywords: learning management, animal anatomy, effectiveness, effectiveness ratio

Abstract

Abstrak -Roro Kuning merupakan salah satu kawasan wisata di Kabupaten Nganjuk yang masih alami dan berperan penting dalam menjaga kelestarian hayati. Secara keseluruhan kawasan wisata Roro Kuning memiliki berbagai macam tumbuhan termasuk tumbuhan lumut (Bryophyta). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis lumut teresterial atau yang tumbuh di tanah lembab. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode transek jalur. Sampel lumut yang diambil dilengkapi data sekunder yang meliputi suhu tanah, suhu udara, pH, kelembapan, kecepatan angin, dan intensitas cahaya. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 5 jenis lumut yakni Marchantia emarginata, Marchantia geminata, Pallavicinia subciliata, Pogonatum macrophyllum dan Plagiochila pereloides.  Kata kunci : Lumut Teresterial, Roro Kuning Nganjuk

Abstract

The demand for curriculum 2013 requires students to think critically in the learning process. However, the current process of learning in schools about the aspect of critical thinking has not been empowered. In addition, another aspect that has also not been considered is the cognitive style of students. The cognitive style of the students shows the variation of student learning styles. The purpose of this research is to describe critical thinking based on reflective and impulsive cognitive style on students of SMP Muhammadiyah 15 Sedayulawas class VII-B in biology study of environmental pollution subject through Think Pairs Share model and poster media. This research is a descriptive explorative research type. Subjects in this study were students of SMP Muhammadiyah 15 Sedayulawas class VII-B consisting of 9 students of reflective cognitive style and 9 students of cognitive impulsive style. Data of critical thinking ability was obtained from the critical thinking test sheet of critical thinking indicator which refers to bloom taxonomy on C3 (Applied) and C4 (Analysis) level, while cognitive style data obtained from cognitive style test refers to known cognitive style test instrument (MFFT).Data analysis technique of critical thinking ability in non parametric statistical analysis with Mann Whitney test. For analysis of cognitive style data obtained by Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT) test. From the results of data analysis, students with reflective cognitive styles have higher critical thinking skills compared to students of impulsive cognitive styles. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the students' critical thinking ability with reflective cognitive style is better than the cognitive impulsive students after through the TPS (Think Pairs Share) learning model combined with the poster media.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Isu lingkungan seperti pencemaran udara, pemanasan global, dan zero waste telah mendorong peningkatan perhatian pada sumber-sumber energi terbarukan. Harga bahan bakar minyak (fosil) yang semakin mahal menjadi salah satu alasan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi, salah satu diantaranya berupa biogas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui produksi biogas dari limbah makanan dengan peningkatan suhu dalam biodigester anaerob.Penelitian dilaksanakan di Sub Laboratorium Biologi, UPT Lab. Pusat MIPA Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, dari bulan Mei sampai dengan September 2009. Biodigester  digunakan jerigen plastik bervolume 5 liter dengan volume kerja 4 liter (sumber inokulum : substrat,  20% : 80%). Perlakuan percobaan diberikan dalam bentuk penambahan suhu biodigester dari berbagai sumber inokulum: inokulum kotoran sapi dan kotoran ayam pada suhu tinggi (50ºC) dan suhu ruang (31ºC) dengan substrat utama limbah makanan. Parameter diamati meliputi pH, suhu, COD, BOD, TS, VS, dan produksi biogas. Data hasil pengamatan di analisis dengan sidik ragam GLM univariate dan uji lanjut DMRT.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produksi biogas dari substrat limbah makanan terbaik diperoleh dengan sumber inokulum kotoran ayam yaitu 0,91 (l/hari) biogas pada suhu tinggi (500C) dengan efisiensi reduksi organik BOD 80,9% / COD 85,2%, dan efisiensi reduksi organik TS 80% / VS 78,2%. Kata kunci : biogas, suhu biodigester anaerob, kotoran ayam.

Abstract

This research aims to study (1) the pattern of scientific communication in biology classes, and (2) the factors and reasons hinder the communication process during the learning process. This is a classroom observation conducted in two classes of grade XI Science of Gondangrejo High School, which were selected randomly. Fifty-five students participated, and two biology teachers had also been involved. The pattern of scientific communication was analyzed based on 10 times observations of both classes, then all communications recorded and analyzed based on VICS Flanders. The hindrances of communication were checked based on categorization introduced by Lunenburg, which consists of four: process, physics, semantic, and psycho social. The findings of the research shows that the pattern of communication is mostly balance between teacher and students, which is represented by region C G J K L M P R (52.43%). Whilst, the area of teacher's domination is 24.79% (A B D E F H I ), and the area of student’s domination scores 22.78% (N O S T). The pattern of scientific communication is two ways communication between teacher and students, but the frequency of student to initiate the communication remains low. The factors hinder the communication process are process barriers.

Abstract

This research aimed to reveal the effect of guided inquiry based learning module using on (1) improvement of student’s learning motivation, (2) improvement of student’s critical thinking skills, and (3) reveal the relationship between student’s learning motivation with student’s critical thinking skills. This research is considered as quasi experiment research, Pretest-Posttest with Control Group Design was used as research design to facilitate the data collection. Population of this research were all students in X grade of SMA N 1 Ngemplak, Boyolali. The sample of this research was established by Purposive Sampling. The samples were X-6 as experimental class and X-8 as control class. Experimental class has given guided inquiry based learning module as a treatment, while control class has not given guided inquiry based learning module. The data were collected using test (pre-test and post-test) and non-test (observation sheet, questionnaire, and  documentation). Hypothesis was analyzed using ANOVA by SPSS 16 software with 0.05 significant index. The procedure of this research was planning,  and data analysis. The results of this research showed that guided inquiry based learning module using had effect on improvement of student’s learning motivation and student’s critical thinking skills. Based on result of observation sheet and questionnaire, the percentage of experimental class’ learning motivation before a treatment was given is 67.2% as low category, after a treatment was given to, the percentage of experimental class’ learning motivation is 78.11% as enough category. The percentage of experimental class’ critical thinking skills from questionnaire before a treatment was given is 36.5% as low category, after a treatment was given to, the percentage of experimental class’ critical thinking is 73.42% as good category. The post-test score of experimental class was higher than control class’. Based on correlation analysis, student’s learning motivation had positive relationship with student’s critical thinking skills.Keywords:        guided inquiry based learning module, learning motivation, critical thinking skills
