Abstract

Science is one of the subjects of National Standard School Final Examination (UASBN) in SD/MI, hence the learning achievement of the subject determines the students’ graduation. UASBN topics are taken from fourth until sixth grade materials so that science learning achievement of fourth grader needs more attention. But the fact is, based on the data of fourth grader in SDN ‘X’ Yogyakarta, the average value for science is sequence to 9 of 11 subjects. Besides, the science average value is still lower than the minimum criteria for completeness (KKM) of science. For years, the method developing in school is the conventional method (Kumara, 2004; Brahim, 2007; Depdiknas, 2008), whereas science is a subject which needs skill of understanding, analyzing, and relating a phenomenon with other phenomenon (Depdiknas, 2007). The purpose of this research is to examine the capability of Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method to improve the fourth grader’s science learning achievement. This research used a quasi experimental method with an “untreated control group design with pretest and posttest“. Science test was given for pretest and posttest. The intervention was applied for 10 sessions (3 sessions a week), which was held in 75 minutes. There were 32 partisipants, divided into two groups, experimental group (n=22) and control group (n=10). The data was analyzed by T-test. The gain-score was used for the analysis. The result of independent sample t-test analysis showed the differences in science learning achievement between experimental and control group (t=3,878; p<0,01), while the results of paired sample t-test analysis showed a difference between pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group (t=-9.298, p<0.01). These results indicate that Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method could improve fourth grader’s science learning achievement. Keywords: Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method, science learning achievement, fourth grader

Abstract

Abstrak Minat terhadap pelajaran dan motivasi belajar merupakan faktor penting yang turut menentukan hasil belajar seseorang. Oleh karena itu, upaya pengembangan minat dan motivasi sangat perlu mendapat perhatian dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penerapan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri (PPBI) dengan strategi kooperatif pada peningkatan minat terhadap biologi dan motivasi belajar siswa SMA di kota Mataram. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam seting eksperimental semu dengan ran­cangan faktorial 2 x 2. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan teknik anakova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PPBI berpengaruh positif pada minat terhadap biologi dan motivasi belajar siswa (F= 22,1 dan 7,9). Strategi kooperatif juga memberikan pengaruh positif pada minat dan motivasi siswa (F = 21,23 dan 6,24). Minat terhadap biologi dan motivasi belajar siswa melalui strategi kooperatif STAD berbeda dengan siswa yang belajar melalui TGT (p≤0,05). Interaksi PPBI dengan strategi kooperatif berpengaruh signifikan pada minat siswa terhadap biologi (F=16,19) tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata pada peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa implementasi PPBI dengan strategi kooperatif memberikan pengaruh positif pada perkembangan minat terhadap biologi dan motivasi belajar siswa.   Kata kunci: PPBI, STAD, TGT, minat terhadap biologi, motivasi belajar

Abstract

Abstract-The biosurfactant activity are surface active compound produced by microorganism, these molecules reduce surface tension between aqueous solutions that diverse of polarity. Endophytic bacteria MFS3, isolated from sludge oil resources presented positive biosurfactant test. The aim of this study is to screen of biosurfactant activity from MFS3 endophytic bacteria, by using Parafilm hydrophobic M test and surface tension determination by using Du-Nouy-ring Tensiometer method. Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) The expedience degree of Biology interactive learning media based macromedia flash; (2) The responses of SMA Biology MGMP teachers; and (3) The responses of students as to Biology interactive learning media based macromedia flash in the material of Digestive System of Human at class XI SMA/MA. This development study which stages includes are: (1) Collect to information; (2) Planning (preparing benchmark reference test); (3) To develop an early form of product; (4) Validation of expert; (5) Revision; (6) Test final product; and (7) Revision of the eligibility of product. The test subject consists of validator in material experts, language expert, and learning design media experts, and one MGMP teacher with 36 students in MAN 1 Medan on small group trial, four MGMP teachers with 85 students in MAN 1 and MAN 2 Model Medan on middle group trial, and then nine MGMP teachers with 165 students in MAN 1, MAN 2 Model, and MAN 3 Medan on large group trial. Data collected by using a questionnaire. Data analyzed with descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results of this study showed that: (1) The Eligibility material content is in very good criteria (88%); (2) The Language of learning media is in very good criteria (85%); (3) The Media development product is in very good criteria (84%); (4) The responses of one MGMP teacher is in helping criteria (4,1) and 36 students are in very good criteria (82%); (5) The responses of four MGMP teachers are in very helping criteria (4,3) and 85 students are in very good criteria (82%); and (6) The responses of nine MGMP teachers are in very helping criteria (4,7) and 165 students are in very good criteria (84%).Keywords: Macromedia Flash, Digestive System of Human, Questionnaire, Descriptive Quantitative, and Qualitative.

Abstract

This study is an experimental study that aims to identify differences in learning outcomes through cooperative learning model of TPS ( Think Pair Share ) and use the model of Jigsaw the subject 's body structure plant eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura . Classes used in this study were three classes, randomly selected. Class used different study treated with the same material. Data collection techniquesin this study using the methods of documentation, observation, and post test. Analyze data using a statistical test of test validity,reliability,degree of difficulty, different power matter, normality, homogenity, and to test hypotheses using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U Test, assisted by SPSS 15.0 for Windows. Average cognitive learning outcomes VIIIG class with TPS models of 80.5 is lower than the class of models that use Jigsaw by 81 and conventional by 72. Results of the Kruskal-Wallis test hypotheses using model learning Jigsaw-TPS and obtained 0,000 < 0,05, then H0 is rejected so there is a difference between learning outcomes learning TPS, Jigsaw and control.Further test results using the Mann-Whitney U Test results of TPS-Jigsaw obtained 0.760 > 0.05 so H0 is accepted; Control stations obtained 0.000 < 0.05 H0 is rejected; Jigsaw-control obtained 0.000 < 0.05 H0 is rejected. Based on the results of the analysis ofthese data can be obtained conclusion: there are differences in learning outcomes between TPS learning models, Jigsaw, and Conventional (lectures) on the subjects of biological material of plant body structure Junior High School eighth grade 2 Kartasura academic year 2013/2014. The most effective learning jigsaw model used in the learning process plant material body structure compared to the learning model TPS (Think Pair Share) and lectures (conventional) in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura academic year 2013/2014. Keywords: TPS models, jigsaw models, results of learning

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Cellulose is a biopolymer whose numbers most  abundant in nature and have an important role as various kinds of industrial raw materials. In this study,  liquid waste of soy used as a growth medium  for A. xylinum bacteria to synthesize cellulose with  addition of molasses as carbon source. The aim of this research was to know the effect of different concentrations of molasses on cellulose layer weight and which is the best concentration of molasses that produce the highest weight of cellulose. Three  concentration of molasses were tested, namely 2%, 4% and 6%. Observation on layer cellulose weight produced was performed on day-10 . The study shows that the more concentrations of molasses is given, the more weight of the layer of cellulose, although this weight difference was not significant. 6% molasses concentration produces the most high cellulose weight.   keywords: cellulose , molase, liquid waste of soy, A. xylinum

Abstract

Proboscis monkey (Nasalislarvatus) is a species of primates endemic in Borneo. According to South Borneo Governor's Decree No. 29 Year 1990 dated January 16 at1990, proboscis monkey is set to be a mascot fauna of South Borneo Province. The habitat of proboscis monkeys are usually found along the rivers and swamp areas in Borneo. Research of proboscis monkeys who live in mountainous areas are still very rarely done so little known by the public. Therefore , to determine the condition of proboscis monkeys in a habitat of them to do research on the structure of the population. The purpose of this study was to calculate the number , density and age structure of the population pyramid illustrates the proboscis monkey (Nasalislarvatus). The method used is descriptive method by calculating the concentration technique (concentration count). The study was conducted on a population proboscis monkey (Nasalislarvatus)  in the area of BatuSawar Mount in Hulu Sungai Tengah District. Data analysis was performed by direct calculation during primate visible. The largest number of individuals encountered on a whole series of observations is assumed as the number of individuals that represent a group, whereas the smallest number of individuals encountered is assumed that the other individual is not visible at the time of observation.The observation of the proboscis monkeys (Nasalislarvatus) found in the area of research were adult proboscis monkey amounted to 17 with a density of 0,028 ind / ha, totaling 23 juveniles proboscis monkey with a density of 0.038 ind / ha, and child proboscis monkey amounted to 13 with a density of 0,022 ind / ha. The population structure of proboscis monkey (Nasalislarvatus) in the area of BatuSawarmountain in Hulu Sungai Tengah district if depicted using the age pyramid, the pyramid form a jug or bowl.Keywords: Proboscis Monkey, population structure, Batu Sawar Mountain

Abstract

Tagetes erecta is an annual plant that is, in addition, to be used as an ornamental plant, it can also be used as an agent for phytoremediation. Glomus intraradices is one of the species of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi which can be mutually symbiotic with various species of plants, including T. erecta.  This study was aimed to determine the effect of VAM fungi G. intraradices on the growth of T. erecta in growth media containing chromium. The study was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design with treatments, namely Cr6+ concentrations of 0, 5 and 10 ppm in the form of K2CrO7, and the addition of VAM fungi G. intraradices in the growth media in the form of soil and mixture of soil: textile sludge (1: 1).  T. erecta was grown in four different growth media (soil, soil: textile sludge (1:1), soil+VAM, soil: textile sludge (1:1)+VAM) that was treated with Cr6+ and G. intraradices for 1.5 months. The growth of T. erecta was determined based on plant height, root length, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, and percentage of mycorrhizal infection. Data were analyzed with two-way Analysis of Variance (two-way ANOVA) and DMRT (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) with a test level of 5%. The results showed that the growth of T. erecta in media containing Cr6+ (5 and 10 ppm) decreased significantly compared to controls (without Cr6+ treatment).  The highest reduction of plant growth was found in media containing Cr6+ of 10 ppm. The addition of VAM fungi G. intraradices in soil media and soil: textile sludge that treated with Cr6+ was able to increase the growth of T. erecta. These results indicated that the VAM fungi G. intraradices were able to improve the ability of T. erecta to deal with chromium heavy metal stress. That results were also supported by the percentage of mycorrhizal infection in the roots of T. erecta grown in soil and soil: textile sludge (1:1) media with treatments of Cr6+ and VAM G. intraradices were higher than the control plants that was grown in soil and soil: textile sludge (1:1) media without treatments of Cr6+ and VAM G. intraradices.

Abstract

Mealybug damage roselle plant, so it can reduce the productivity of the plant. The purpose of this study identification mealybug on roselle plant. Identification is done using existing preserved specimens using a Zeiss stereo microscope SV11 connected with the camera lucida. The observation of preserved existing infestation is obtained that has the following characteristics: 1) Body oval, convex and white color because his body is covered by a layer of wax, 2) antenna consists of 9 sections, 3) had a great circle of the majority has a great body 4-5 mm, 4) have a multilocular hole of segment VI or VII to VIII, 5) Legs with transparent holes on the stale of the femur and the tibia, 6) Anal Ring large. It can be concluded that these features are found in Phenacoccus solenopsis roselle plant. Keywords: mealybug, roselle, identification

Abstract

Local potential is one of the useful thing of biological resources. The use of biological resources was done to fulfill the needs of human life. The necessities of life is going increase that causes exploitation of biological resources continue to be made in larger numbers. Therefore, conservation efforts must begin immediately. This study aimed to determine human role in conservation efforts. Descriptive exploratory study method was used to know the role of communities around Mountains of Muria in conservation efforts. This study discussed the potency and conservation of parijoto. Some conservation efforts was carried out to protect parijoto in the area of Mountains of Muria they are cultivation of local crops either independently or with the help of the government, the use of local wisdom, the establishment of forest and conservation communities which be founded by the Foundation of Sunan Muria, and the news media roles. The results showed a wide range of local community participation, private organizations, and governments in conservation efforts parijoto. It was an effort to save the preservation one of biological resources in Indonesia especially in area of Muria Mountain. Results were directing human relate conserve biological resources.Keywords: concervation, biological resources, role of society
