Abstract

A learning method is necessary in supporting learning activity. Thus, a learning method applied in inclusive school should reinforce learning interests and outcomes of students, both normal students and students with special needs. This research aims to determine the effect of Talking Drawing Strategy (TDS) to improve learning interests of the inclusive primary school students in Surakarta. The research applied random sampling technique with 52 respondents of fourth-class students in two inclusive primary schools in Surakarta. The respondents consist of normal students and students with special needs. Data were gathered by observations of students’ learning interests and a questionnaire about the students learning interest with TDS. Based on descriptive statistical analysis, the research showed that learning activities with TDS can decrease the negative learning behaviours up to 50% in all respondents, 52% in normal respondents, and 45% in respondents with special needs. The research also revealed that (1) 79% of the students like to learn with TDS; (2) 79% of the students stated that TDS is useful in understanding subject matter; and (3) 52% of the students stated that learning with TDS is easy to do. To sum up, TDS improves the learning interests of the inclusive primary school students in Surakarta.

Abstract

Students of Special Education (SE) are expected to have a high interest in the social service work field so that there is a compatibility with their education. However, the education selection of SE students is not always based on interest in the social service work field, so there is a possibility that SE students will not pursue a career in social service work field after they graduated. This study aims to determine the interest of SE students in the social service work field in the SE field. The respondents were 73 fifth semester SE students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), consisting of 54 female students and 19 male students. The sampling technique used is a non-random purposive sampling. RMIB interest test and a career interest questionnaire are used to collect the data. Data were analyzed by using frequency analysis. The results shows that (1) Based on the RMIB interest test, 79% of SE-UNS students have a high interest in the social service work field; (2) Based on the questionnaire, 60% of SE-UNS students choose to work in the social service field, such as teachers, social workers, heads of social foundations, sign language interpreters, principals, and social volunteers. Thus, it can be concluded that the majority of SE-UNS students have had interests in the social service work field in accordance with the SE field.

Abstract

Science is one of the subjects of National Standard School Final Examination (UASBN) in SD/MI, hence the learning achievement of the subject determines the students’ graduation. UASBN topics are taken from fourth until sixth grade materials so that science learning achievement of fourth grader needs more attention. But the fact is, based on the data of fourth grader in SDN ‘X’ Yogyakarta, the average value for science is sequence to 9 of 11 subjects. Besides, the science average value is still lower than the minimum criteria for completeness (KKM) of science. For years, the method developing in school is the conventional method (Kumara, 2004; Brahim, 2007; Depdiknas, 2008), whereas science is a subject which needs skill of understanding, analyzing, and relating a phenomenon with other phenomenon (Depdiknas, 2007). The purpose of this research is to examine the capability of Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method to improve the fourth grader’s science learning achievement. This research used a quasi experimental method with an “untreated control group design with pretest and posttest“. Science test was given for pretest and posttest. The intervention was applied for 10 sessions (3 sessions a week), which was held in 75 minutes. There were 32 partisipants, divided into two groups, experimental group (n=22) and control group (n=10). The data was analyzed by T-test. The gain-score was used for the analysis. The result of independent sample t-test analysis showed the differences in science learning achievement between experimental and control group (t=3,878; p<0,01), while the results of paired sample t-test analysis showed a difference between pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group (t=-9.298, p<0.01). These results indicate that Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method could improve fourth grader’s science learning achievement. Keywords: Menggambar-Menceritakan Gambar method, science learning achievement, fourth grader

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pembelajaran Virtual Reality for Identification and Assessment Sebelas Maret University (VRiDAS-SMART) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman penyusunan profil belajar siswa (PBS) bagi mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Luar Biasa Universitas Sebelas Maret (PLB UNS) di kelas inklusif. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen kuasi One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 15 orang mahasiswa (3 tunanetra, 3 tunarungu, 9 non-disabilitas) yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah Identifikasi dan Asesmen bagi Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (IDAS ABK). Pengukuran terhadap pemahaman materi PBS dilakukan sebanyak dua kali, yaitu sebelum (pretest) dan sesudah (posttest) pemberian media VRiDAS-SMART. Analisis data dilakukan dengan paired t-test dan didapatkan hasil rata-rata skor pretest sebesar 4.87 dan skor posttest sebesar 7.20 dengan nilai t = -4.466 dan p=0.001 (p<0.05). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran VRiDAS-SMART dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa PLB UNS tentang penyusunan PBS pada kelas inklusif perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi guru Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri Sragen dalam pemetaan minat yaitu keberagaman minat Peserta Didik Berkebutuhan Khusus (PDBK), keberagaman keterampilan vokasi bagi PDBK di SLB, pemetaan minat yang belum didasarkan pada instrumen yang objektif, serta belum adanya pendampingan bagi guru terkait pemetaan minat PDBK untuk vocational placement di SLB. Guru membutuhkan instrumen yang dapat mendukung tugasnya dalam melakukan pemetaan minat untuk vocational placement pada PDBK. Salah satu instrumen digital yang dapat digunakan dalam melakukan pemetaan minat untuk vocational placement pada PDBK adalah aplikasi IDESMART, dengan demikian, tim pengabdian melakukan pendampingan bagi guru dalam melakukan pemetaan minat untuk vocational placement pada PDBK dengan aplikasi IDESMART. Pendampingan pemetaan minat untuk vocational placement pada PDBK dengan aplikasi IDESMART dilaksanakan di SLB Negeri Sragen selaku mitra, yang melibatkan 54 guru di SLB tersebut. Tahapan kegiatan pendampingan terdiri dari tahap persiapan, penyusunan desain pendampingan, pelaksanaan pendampingan, evaluasi, dan pelaporan. Hasil kegiatan pendampingan berupa pemahaman guru terkait kurikulum vokasional di SLB, pemahaman guru terkait konsep minat PDBK, pemahaman guru terkait aplikasi IDESMART, praktek pemanfaatan aplikasi IDESMART, serta kerjasama yang berkelanjutan terkait pendampingan dalam pemetaaan minat PDBK di SLB Negeri Sragen.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital identification instrument-based Decision Support System (DSS) for mentally disabled children. First-year research consisted of three stages, namely (a) instrument need analysis, (b) instrument prototype development, (c) instrument validation. The study involved 20 special schools taken by purposive sampling from eight districts/cities in Central Java. The method of collecting data at the needs analysis stage uses a questionnaire given to 32 respondents (teachers and principals). At the stage of prototype development, data collection is done by using a web-based DSS development technique. Furthermore, the instrument validation stage is done through professional judgment with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques involving special education experts, information and technology experts, psychometric experts, language experts, psychologists, and users/teachers. Data analysis was performed with quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study at the needs analysis stage showed that 75% of respondents had difficulty in compiling identification instruments for mentally disabled children; all respondents (100%) needed the development of identification instruments for mentally disabled children, and 50% of respondents chose identification instruments in digital form. At the instrument development stage, mentally disabled children's characteristics based on the previous DSM-V criteria are described in the indicators. This digital instrument's identification results are still limited to indications, so that it needs to be continued with more in-depth assessment by authorized professionals. Expert validation results at the instrument validation stage indicate that this digital identification instrument for mentally disabled children meets the eligibility criteria with improvements in language, web appearance, and the instrument's technical operation. Furthermore, the instrument prototype is repaired and will be continued with small-scale and wide-scale trials.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of finger painting activities on the fine motor skills cerebral palsy in inclusive center therapy services in Kecamatan Karanganom, Kabupaten Klaten. This research uses quantitative methods with Single Subject Research (SSR). The design used in this study was A1-B-A2 or baseline1 – intervention – baseline2. The subject used in this study was a cerebral palsy child in the inclusive center therapy service in Kecamatan Karanganom, Kabupaten Klaten. The technique used in data collection is a performance test with 21 questions. The validity test uses the content validity test. This study used inter-ratter reliability. The assessment instruments in this study have been validated to three experts in the fields of materials, media and measurement. The data from the study were analyzed using descriptive analysis presented in the form tables and graphs using analysis components in conditions and between conditions. The results showed an increase in fine motor skills through finger painting activities with a mean at baseline1 of 49,31, intervention of 62,32 and baseline2 of 73,33. Based on the results this study, it can be concluded that finger painting activities have an effect on improving fine motor skills of cerebral palsy children in inclusive center therapy services in Kecamatan Karanganom Kabupaten Klaten.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi SUPERSMART terhadap pemahaman vocational placement peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus pada guru Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri Salatiga. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 25 guru SLB, yaitu 22 guru perempuan dan 3 guru laki-laki. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes pemahaman vocational placement secara online. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji beda T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil pretest dan posttest dengan t = -3,988; dengan taraf signifikansi p = 0,001. Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan aplikasi SUPERSMART berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman vocational placement untuk peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus pada guru SLB Negeri Salatiga. Oleh karena itu, aplikasi SUPERSMART dapat dimanfaatkan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman vocational placement untuk peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus pada guru SLB Negeri Salatiga.
