Abstract

The development of the 21st century has resulted in technology continuing to develop which has given rise to global interactions and connections. To overcome the loss of national culture, critical thinking ability and understanding of global diversity need to be implemented in schools. This can be done through introducing the culture around students. However, in reality, until now learning and assessment have not focused enough on critical thinking skills and global diversity because they focus more on content mastery and most teachers emphasize material mastery when conducting assessments. Therefore, to prove this problem, a needs analysis is needed. The method used in this research is through a qualitative descriptive method with documentation, literature study, and interviews with five science teachers in several junior high schools in the city of Surakarta. While quantitative through a questionnaire filled in by 42 students. The result of this needs analysis is that the development of assessment instruments used to measure critical thinking ability and culture-based global diversity at the junior high school level is very necessary, especially in science learning. It is hoped that the implications of the results of this research will be future research development regarding culture-based assessment instruments to measure critical thinking skills and global diversity at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the simultaneous and partial effects of ecological knowledge, cognitive skills, and environmental affective on problem-solving skills. Focusing on high school students in Cianjur Regency, grade 10, 66 students were selected using cluster random sampling as the sample. The research instruments included 15 essay questions on problem-solving skills, 10 multiple-choice questions on ecological knowledge, 7 questions on cognitive skills, and 15 items assessing environmental affective attitudes. Using multiple linear regression statistical analysis, the results showed no simultaneous influence of ecological knowledge, cognitive skills, and environmental affective factors on problem-solving skills, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.340. Additionally, the results showed no partial influence of each variable on problem solving skills. Statistical analysis also indicated that ecological knowledge, cognitive skills, and environmental affective only contributed 0.6% to problem-solving skills in the context of global warming and environmental pollution. Based on these research results, environmental literacy skills such as ecological knowledge, cognitive skills, and environmental affective skills in the context of global warming and environmental pollution are insufficient to develop good problem-solving skills. Therefore, problem-solving skills must still be trained even if students' environmental literacy skills are already sufficiently good.

Abstract

This study examines the role of science literacy in enhancing the competencies of Vocational High School (SMK)students through a systematic literature review. Science literacy, encompassing the understanding of scientificconcepts and their practical application, is crucial for preparing SMK students to meet the demands of a technology-driven and innovative industry. The research finds that science literacy not only improves technical skills andproblem-solving abilities but also contributes to the development of soft skills, such as critical thinking andcommunication. The implications of enhancing science literacy for curriculum development and teaching methodsin SMK highlight the need for integrating science with vocational skills, adopting project-based learningapproaches, and utilizing digital technology to enrich the learning experience. The findings are expected to provideinsights for educators and policymakers in developing effective strategies to strengthen science literacy in vocationaleducation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the practicality of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based e-module on the topic of Heat and Its Transfer. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, which was limited to the development (Develop) stage. The participants of the study consisted of 3 science teachers and 32 Grade VII students from SMP Negeri 2 Tambakrejo, selected through a random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaire instruments distributed to both the science teachers and the students. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach by calculating the average scores of the quantitative results. The findings revealed that the practicality test conducted by science teachers produced an average percentage of 94.74%, while the students’ responses reached 96.37%, both of which fall under the "very practical" category. These results indicate that the PBL based e-module on Heat and Its Transfer is highly practical and appropriate for use in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The implementation of the waste bank is social engineering to encourage people to sort waste. Through waste banks, an innovative solution was finally found to "force" people to sort waste. By equating waste with money or valuables that can be saved, people are finally educated to appreciate waste according to its type and value so that they are willing to sort waste. Implementation of 3R (reduce, reuse and recycle) in waste management at the source at the community. The "Tumras" Waste Bank is a Waste Bank located in Sagulingkolot , Rt/Rw 003/006 Saguling, Baregbeg, Ciamis. The formation of the Tumras Waste Bank and its management was approved by the Decree of the Head of  Saguling Number 147/Kpts.22/2019 on 30 July 2019. The existence of a Waste Bank can have a social impact, economic impact, and environmental impact. Problems related to waste management at the Waste Bank include social aspects, technical aspects, management aspects and institutional aspects. There are several strategy options based on this study, namely using technology as a medium for managing waste banks (digital literacy), holding regular meetings between managers and customers, communicating with the entire community to register as customers.

Abstract

One of the goals of the SDGs is quality education, ensures that all groups have good literacy and numeracy skills. Efforts made include implementing learning models that accustom students to literacy, Li-Pro-GP learning model. The purpose of the study was to analyze the scientific literacy skills of JHS students in the application of the Li-Pro-GP learning model to support the Education SDGs. The type of research is a pre-experimental design, a one-group posttest-only design. The study was conducted in August 2024 at a private JHS in Malang City. The research population was 43 students and the sample was 43 students using a saturated sampling technique. The technique of collecting data is done through tests and non-tests. Data collection instruments were essay questions and self-assessment questionnaires. Scientific literacy ability data were analyzed descriptively to determine the achievement of scientific literacy indicators. The results of the study showed that the ability of science literacy in the context aspect was 72% (good), competence 76% (good), knowledge 79% (good), and attitude 77% (good). The Li-Pro-GP learning model can be used as an alternative to support the SDGs of education because, in its implementation this model accustoms students always to be literate and integrates character-building.

Abstract

The development of sustainable and environmentally friendly cosmetic ingredients continues to be developed. One of the important ingredients in cosmetics is Lauric acid.  Lauric acid with high content can be obtained from the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens L.) larva oil or BSFL oil.  The aim of the study was to reveal the potential of lauric acid from BSFL oil as an important ingredient in cosmetics. From previous research, it was stated that BSFL oil contains about 17-22% lauric acid even higher depends on their substrate to growth. The relatively high content of lauric acid in the BSFL oil, provides better advantages, lower toxicity and environmentally friendly as antibacteria, antifungal, and a biosurfactant compared to surfactants from petroleum. The use of BSFL oil as a sustainable source of lauric acid is attractive, because these insects can grow in various organic waste substrates, so the production process is more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. In addition, lauric acid as a biosurfactant exhibits properties of surface and interfacial activity, emulsification, wetting, and foaming, which are critical for the performance of various cosmetic products. In addition, lauric acid biosurfactants have been shown to have good antibacterial and antioxidant properties.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of plants of the Asteraceae family in the environment of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. This type of research is field research with a qualitative-quantitative descriptive research approach. The research population is all plants of the Asteraceae family in the environment of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, the research sample is plants of the Asteraceae family in the environment of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin which were found by the exploration method and observation-documentation techniques to collect data. Data were analyzed descriptively exploratory using relevant literature. The results of the study found 11 species of plants of the Asteraceae family, namely Syndrella nodiflora Gaertn., Eclipta prostrata, Emilia sonchifolia, Cyanthilium cinereum L., Ageratum conyzoides, Mikania micrantha Kunth., Sphagneticola trilobata L., Gynura divaricata L., Bidens pilosa L., Cosmos caudatus Kunth., and Zinnia peruviana.

Abstract

Eko-enzim memiliki banyak manfaat bagi unsur abiotik dan medis. Secara medis, Eko-enzim berfungsi melawan kuman dan parasit sebab infeksi kulit, selain itu dapat digunakan untuk melawan peradangan paru-paru, sendi dan juga otak. Pembuatan sabun cair antiseptik berbahan Eko-enzim menjadi alternatif pemanfaatan Eko-enzim yang ramah lingkungan dan bermanfaat untuk kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui karakteristik sabun cair berbahan Eko-enzim. Karakteristik sabun yang diamati meliputi warna, penampilan, aroma, kualitas pembersihan, dan busa sabun. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 53 orang yang diambil secara acak (probability sampling). Data hasil penelitian selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 77,4% responden menyatakan bahwa warna sabun cair antiseptik berbahan ekoenzim cukup menarik, 81,1% responden menyatakan bahwa penampilan sabun sangat baik, 62,3% responden menyatakan bahwa aroma sabun cukup baik, 83% responden menyatakan bahwa sabun memiliki kualitas pembersihan sangat baik, dan 75,5% responden menyatakan bahwa busa yang dihasilkan sabun sangat baik. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa sabun cair berbahan Eko-enzim layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

Problem solving is a skill have a role in logical thinking. Logical thinking can be obtained by applying problem solving in learning by using media such as module. The module used in the study is the result of development according to indicators compiled based on aspects of problem solving and logical thinking. The purpose of thestudy is to show the effect of problem solving-based module to empower logical thinking on the Inheritance of Traits lessons. The research method is quasi-experiment with pretest post-test non-equivalent control group design. The research participants are high school students in grade XII. There are control classes andexperimental classes. The results of the study showed that: 1) The score post-test of logical thinking in the experimental class is significantly different from the control class (0.00<0.05); 2) The logical thinking score in the experimental class is higher than in the control class; 3) The problem-solving based module has an 18%effect on logical thinking. Therefore, the use of problem-solving based module has positive effect on logical thinking skills in the Inheritance of Traits lessons.
