Abstract

This community service partnership program between UNS research group and a small scale batik home industry Puspita Batik located in Bantul, Yogyakarta aims at empowering the small scale batik home industry in producing natural indigo dye. This empowerment program was conducted by: (1) introducing a new indigo plant species to the partner Puspita Batik; (2) cultivating Indigofera longeracemosa for producing indigo dye; (3) improving the quality of indigo natural dye; (4) introducing a convective drying technology for producing indigo dye powder; and (5) widening the target market by developing the website owned by the enterprise. The method used for implementing this program was an action research method, which included discussion, indigo plant nursery and cultivation, production of indigo paste, production of indigo dye powder using convective drying technology, and application of indigo dye powder for producing batik. The first harvest was in August 2021, producing 200 kg indigo leaves, all of which were used to produce 25 kg indigo paste, which was then used to produce 10 kg indigo dye powder. The outcome of this program was an improvement of production capacity of 100%, which was followed by an improvement of sales of 100%. This outcome was due to the output of this program as follows: (1) the cultivation of a new variety of indigo plant; (2) the superior harvest and product quality of Indigofera longeracemosa; (3) a more selling web content and design for marketing; (4) a better way of educating target buyers; and (5) a more effective indigo dye powder packaging which results in low-cost shipping, especially to the buyers abroad.

Abstract

Community service activities were held on July 11, 12 & 30, 2021 at RT 0-02 / RW 09 and RT04/RW02, Amban Village of West Papua. Budikdamber and hydroponics are alternative development techniques for fish and vegetable cultivation on limited land. This activity is limited by the Implementation of PPKM in Manokwari Regency, which began on July 12, 2021. This activity is divided into two, namely, making educational videos offline and sharing educational videos online using the WhatsApp application. There were 22 respondents at RT 0-02 / RW 09 and 7 respondents at RT04/RW02. The average community satisfaction with devotion is 85.55%, with the category "excellent".

Abstract

This research was a classroom action research that aims to increase the result of students’ Biology study through the use of Prezi Desktop learning. The subject of this research was students of XI IPA SMA Negeri 3 Makassar, in even semester, in academic year 2018/2019. They were 29 students. This research was accomplished into 2 cycles. The data collected was analyzed by using quantitative descriptive analysis. The result of data analysis as belows: (1) The result of students’ biology study by looking at average value after using Prezi Desktop learning media. It increased from 68.23 in the 1st cycle to be 81,50 in the 2nd cycle, the percentage of thorough students was 37.71% in the 1st cycle to be 83.95% in the 2nd Cycle. (2) After using Prezi Desktop media, attitude of the students towards the media was 100% positive. It can be concluded that there was increasing during learning process after applying the use of Prezi Desktop leraning media, and the students also supported 100% towards Prezi Desktop media in learning process at SMA Negeri 3 Makasar.

Abstract

Intrinsic cognitive load is related with the load of processing information received. This study aims to control the intrinsic cognitive load students by applying chunking technique of the human reproductive system learning. The research was conducted at one of the public Senior High School in Tasikmalaya City on 2020/2021 academic year. The research method used is a quasi-experimental with a posttest only control group design. The research subject were 56 samples which were divided into two group, namely the experimental group and the control group. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study is a subjective rating scale with an assessment rubric of a scale of 1 – 8 including indicators of student responses about the material given by the teacher, student responses about prior knowledge, student responses about information components, and student responses in integrating information. The results show that learning using chunking techniques can help students process information better than conventional learning. The experimental group had a lower intrinsic cognitive load than the control group, so that the chunking technique can control students' intrinsic cognitive load.

Abstract

Community service aims to carry out the dissemination of development research for students of the Biology Tadris Study Program, Antasari State Islamic University, Banjarmasin. The activity was carried out for five months (July-November 2021). Online activities are held once a week for four meetings. The subjects (target audience) were 33 students of the Biology Education Tadris Study Program at IUN Antasari Banjarmasin in the sixth semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, and six biology education lecturers. The implementation method includes three things, namely 1) planning, 2) implementing activities, and 3) evaluation. Community service activities obtained 1) Students of the Biology Tadris Study Program at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin have produced 38 drafts of research proposals for development. One draft proposal that was worked on by a team of lecturers from the Department of Biology became a development research proposal. 2) Students of the Biology Tadris Study Program at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin have been given guidance on scientific publications that become an integral part of the thesis through development research, 3) Students of the Biology Tadris Study Program at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin are given roles and responsibilities to improve teaching materials with ISBN as a supplement to research development.

Abstract

Cassava chips are one of the favorite snacks of various people who are cheap. The cassava chips home industry in Karangduren Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency revealed that there are still many problems related to the production, packaging, marketing, and waste processing processes that affect the quality of chips and reduce partner income. The objectives of this service activity are 1). Improving the quality of the process and product of cassava chips which are preferred in the community to increase the income of the owner, 2). Assisting the home industry of chips in managing waste to increase the environmental aesthetics and provide added value. The methods implemented in this service activity are 1. Introduction of an oil draining machine and assistance in developing chip products 2. Improvement of production process facilities. 3. Training the employee on the use of animal feed and making compost from waste banana peels and cassava. The result of this activity is that several new product variants have been produced with a better taste and appearance of the packaging, such as cassava hot chips, cassava cheese, cassava leaf chips, a more hygienic and standardized environment for producing chips, as well as by-products from waste treatment. such as animal feed and compost.

Abstract

Poultry is a livestock commodity that is in great demand by many people. However, poultry egg production often declines and does not provide maximum results for farmers due to molting, and several other environmental factors. The use of high protein ingredients is known to increase the length of the reproductive tract of poultry, which is associated with an increased amount of egg production. Snail meat which contains a lot of protein can be used as animal feed. Based on this description, it can be predicted that snail meat can be used toimprove the decline in poultry egg production due to environmental influence. The performance of the snail meat content is improved by fermentation technology with lactic acid bacteria that are naturally found in aquatic animals.

Abstract

Covid-19 as a global pandemic has an impact on accelerating technological transformation. Teachers are expected to master technological advances to become innovative, creative, and able to work together, one of which is in learning science. This study was conducted to analyze the collaborative activities of science teachers using the google docs application during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were science teachers, totaling 90 people. The data collection technique used is observation and field notes. The research was conducted online using Google docs, Zoom, and Whatsapp. Technical analysis of the data using the Miles & Huberman model consists of data reduction, data display, and verification. The results showed that 83.3% of collaborations were very good, while the remaining 16.7% were considered good collaborations. The result is because the collaboration participants are enthusiastic and interested in participating in the collaboration. It is shown by the participants' active participation and participation in questions and answers during the discussion. However, the collaboration of science teachers was not fully achieved following the indicators of collaboration activity due to obstacles during the implementation of collaboration, such as unstable internet networks, inadequate gadgets, and limited LKPP processing time.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the argumentation skills of class X high school students by applying the Inquiry Lesson model with Google Classroom in biology learning. This research is a classroom action research which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class X SMA Negeri in Sukoharjo. The argumentation skill data is taken with an essay test instrument that refers to aspects of claim, data and reasoning. The argumentation skill data was analyzed descriptively quantitatively with the percentage technique. The results showed that the percentage score of argumentation skills in cycle 1 was 78% (28 out of 36 students) and cycle 2 was 92% (33 out of 36 students). The research data shows an increase in argumentation skills from cycle 1 to cycle 2 by 18% through the application of the inquiry lesson model. Argumentation skills are one of the main goals of science learning because students who study science must know scientific explanations about natural phenomena and use argumentation to solve problems. Argumentation skills are important for students as skills needed in the 21st century.

Abstract

Di tengah pandemi covid-19, pembelajaran tetap berlangsung dengan tiga macam metode yaitu dalam jaringan (daring), luar jaringan (luring), dan kombinasi (dalam dan luar jaringan). Ada sejumlah kendala yang dihadapi pada saat pembelajaran daring yakni keterbatasan fasilitas penunjang seperti handphone, laptop, dan kuota yang tidak semua peserta didik mampu memilikinya. Pembelajaran luring hanya bisa dilaksanakan pada wilayah zona hijau dengan mengikuti protokol kesehatan yang telah ditentukan. Saat ini beberapa daerah di Indonesia yang tidak menerapkan Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM) juga dapat melaksanakan pembelajaran secara luring dengan ketentuan guru dan peserta didik wajib vaksin. Keterbatasan penguasaan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dijumpai di sekolah dasar di Desa Tandui Kabupaten Tapin, baik di kalangan guru maupun peserta didik. Hal inilah yang membuat mahasiswa tergerak untuk membantu sekolah tersebut agar dapat melakasanakan pembelajaran pada masa covid-19. Langkah yang dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan keterampilan guru dalam membuat media dan melaksanakan pembelajaran yang dikemas dalam penelitian tindakan kelas. Upaya ini ditempuh agar guru menjadi lebih kreatif dan inovatif dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran dengan sentuhan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Bagi kaum ibu diberikan keterampilan pertanian modern (hidroponik), bank sampah, pupuk kompos, dan ecobrick berbasis potensi lokal masyarakat Desa Tandui. Produk di bidang pembelajaran pada covid-19 telah menghasilkan empat buah laporan penelitian tindakan kelas dan sebagai bentuk pemberdayaan masyarakat.
