Abstract

Learning media are developed based on the needs in learning to support the pursuit. Media needs in the banking industry because of material problems, inadequate school infrastructure. The study aimed to study the characteristics of the development of instructional media to strengthen the eco-literacy students at Al Islam 1 High School Surakarta. Development of learning media is included in R & D research (research and development) that can be done with the 4D model which consists of defining, designing, developing, and analyzing. Determination of the characteristics of the media is carried out on a set of definitions consisting of the initial analysis, task analysis, student analysis, and analysis. Analysis of instruments used in the form of draft interviews, questionnaires, questions, and NEP instruments. The subjects of the study were taken by purposive random sampling technique on the XI grade students totaling 50 students. The results of the study indicate the fact that learning media that need to be developed are made in the form of digital learning to support school facilities and are equipped with material specifically for ecosystems. Learning media as much as possible facilitates student practical activities so that they continue to carry out practicum outside the school, but still under the supervision of the teacher in the form of a database.

Abstract

Teaching materials tailored to the student's condition will make it easier for students to understand the material delivered and provide a memorable experience. It is therefore necessary to develop a Biology handout in the form of a catalog with color images on the Respiratory Material Material of quality in terms of validity, effectiveness and practicality. The development of this handout is displayed in the form of a catalog and is complemented by color images with the aim of motivating students to learn and make it easier to understand the material with the help of color images. The development model used is the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques use validation sheet instrument, observation sheet, test sheet and questionnaire. The results showed that Biology handouts in the form of catalogs with color images on the respiratory system material were declared valid, practical and effective and suitable for use as a learning medium for students.

Abstract

The study aimed to improve students' question through the implementation of Guided Inquiry Learning at class XI MIA in biology learning. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) completed in two cycles and each cycle consists of the following steps: planning, action, observation and reflection. Student’s question can be measured through the quantity and quality of questions. Data of student’s questions obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis using descriptive qualitative technique. The research procedure used a spiral model. The result of research is the increase of quantity of question number significantly in the end of cycle, while quantity of student which asking question more than 50% from total 40 students overall. Quality of questions spread to all level dimensions of cognitive processes in the end of cycle with the percentage in each level are C1 level 4,46%, C2 38,39%, C3 4,46%, C4 19,64%, C5 17,85%, and C6 15,17%. Question levels C2, C4, C5 and C6 reach the target of research, while the level of questions C1 and C3 can not reach the target research. Types of questions identified based on the dimensions of the cognitive process and the knowledge dimension in cycle II are 17 types of question.guided inquiry learning, student’s question, quantity of questions, quality of questions

Abstract

Chito-oligosakarida (COS) merupakan glikoprotein ikatan 1,4 glukosamin, hasil deasetilasi kitin dari limbah perikanan yang sangat potensial dan berlimpah di Indonesia. COS mempunyai keunikan yaitu bersifat polikationik yang mampu melindungi protein dan menekan laju pertumbuhan bakteri patogen.  Bekatul (rice bran) sebagai hasil samping penggilingan padi, diperoleh dari lapisan luar karyopsis beras; mengandung karbohidrat, protein, mineral, lemak, vitamin B kompleks, inositol, fitat, gama orizanol, fitosterol, tokotrienol, asam amino, asam lemak tak jenuh, nitrilosid ( zat anti kanker) dan dietary fiber . Probiotik merupakan biopreparasi sel hidup atau organisme alami yaitu kelompok BAL (Bakteri Asam Laktat) yang mampu berkolonisasi  sebagai  microflora saluran cerna yang dapat menstimulir proses digestive  dan imunitas. Konsep sinergistik dan sinbiotik (prebiotik dan probiotik) akhir-akhir ini dipakai untuk karakterisasi makanan peningkatan kesehatan sebagai biosuplemen dalam pangan fungsional.  Tujuan penelitian mengetahui efek sinergistik sinbiotik  yaitu Chito-oligosakarida dan bekatul sebagai prebiotik alami dengan probiotik sebagai imunostimulan  dalam pangan fungsional.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan potensi COS dan bekatul sebagai sumber prebiotik alami dan efek sinergistik sinbiotik (probiotik dan prebiotik) serta biopreparasinya dalam pangan fungsional sebagai biosuplemen yang aman tanpa menimbulkan residu, ekonomis dan multiguna khususnya di bidang kesehatan seperti  food additive, ’antibiotik alternatif’ dan imunostimulan. Abstract

Basil has been commonly consumed by the people of Indonesia as a complement to the dish. The people of South Sulawesi believe that basil has many benefits, one of which is to increase sexual desire. Library studies report that basil leaf extract can prolong the estrous phase in mice. Basil leaves also have a positive effect on the reproductive system of male rats. The use of basil leaf filtrate to explore its potential for reproductive capacity has never been done. Therefore, this study aims to study the effect of basil leaf filtrate on estrous phase length and structure of female reproductive organs in Wistar rats. A total of 10 mature reproductive individuals were divided into 3 groups: Treatment I = flexed basil leaf filtrate 4.1 g / kg bw; treatment II = strained basil leaf filtrate 12.3 g / kg bw, and control = fed aquades (placebo). It is carried out for 15 consecutive days after the animal is fasted. The phases in the estrous cycle are observed then compared before and during the treatment. Other parameters observed were body weight (BB), body temperature (SB), gonadosomatic index (IGS), and uterine index (IU). Data were analyzed statistically based on the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney U-test (α = 0.05). The results showed that the estrus and metestrus phase was prolonged in the treatment group compared to the control but not significant (p> 0.05). Meanwhile, BB, SB, IGS, and IU in all groups experienced an increase, although not significantly (p> 0.05). It is thought that the phytosterol content in basil leaves has an estrogenic effect that plays a role in the regulation of the female reproductive system, growth and maintenance of secondary sex characteristics, as well as the appearance of sexual drives. Based on these findings, research needs to be continued in order to obtain more complete data, including phytochemical tests, pharmacological effects, hormone analysis, and toxicity for safety information on consuming basil leaves as functional food.

Abstract

This reseacrch is based on the researcher’s desire to know the ability of MA Mambaul Ulum students in using blended learning based on dynamic intellectual  learning on the subjeccts of Biology class X of academic year 2017/2018. This study aims to: (1) khow the design of blended learning development based on dynamic intellectual learning, (2) to know the effectiveness of the use of blended learning based on dynamic intellectual learning on Biology class X add semester in MA Mambaul Ulum. The type of this research is development research using ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. Data collection is done by using document recording, questiononnaires,   and tests. The instruments of data collection used are document recording, questionnaire sheet, and multiple choice type objective test. Data analysis used is descriptive analusis of quolitative, quantitative descriptive, and inferential statistic (t-test). This means that blended learning proved to be effective can significantly improve Biology learning outcomes, so it is advisable to other researchers to develop semilar blended learning or other media that is more interesting as a learning media for students on Biology subjects and other subjects.

Abstract

Essential oil or known as the eteris oil (etheric oil) was result from secondary metabolism of a plant. In general essential oil contains of citronellal, Citronelal, Citronelol, Limonen, β-Pinene dan sabinene. The components essential oil derived from citrus plants commonly used by perfume industry, on other hand it is used as essentials oil orange flavour addition in some drinks and food, and also as an antioxidant and anti cancer. One of the essential oil is produced by Citrus aurantifolia and Citrus nobilis. The purpose of this research was to know the types of components essential oil from C. aurantifolia and C. nobilis leaves. The research used a method of descriptive, essential oil taken from steam distillation method. This research gives information about the components of a essential oil derived from both citrus plants so it can be utilized of high economic industrial. The C. aurantifolia leaves was taken from Ngadiluwih Sub District of Kediri District and C. nobilis leaves was taken from Sawahan Sub District of Nganjuk District. GC-MS test showed there was 81 components of essential oil exist in the leaves C.aurantifolia and 42 type derived from leaves C . nobilis.Keywords: C. aurantifolia , C . nobilis, component of the essentials oil

Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of metacognitive abilities in boarding school students towards biology learning on the subject of the ecosystem and relationship knowledge of cognition and regulation of cognition. The subjects of this researchare the students of class X in one of the boarding schools in Sukabumi. The Metacognitive Awareness Inventorythat is modified from Schraw and Dennison (1994) is used in this research in orderto reveal the metacognitive skills. The result shows thatmost students have sufficient metacognitive skills. Besides, the students have also a sufficient level of capability in the aspects of cognition and regulation of cognition. Knowledge of cognition has a significant relation towards regulation of cognition.Keywords: Metacognitive, metacognitive knowladge, regulation of cognition

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of concept maps as learning strategy and as an evaluation tools to assess students’ mastery of concepts. The sample in this study was students of grade IX in one of Junior High School in Bandung by using Pretest-Posttest Randomized Control Group Design. The subject learned was excretory system. In experimental group, the students were taught by using concept map strategy, whereas the students in control group were taught by using elaboration strategy that is taking notes. The method used in both classes were lecture and discussion. The effectiveness of concept map as a learning strategy was measured by using N-Gain value. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of concept map as an evaluation tool to assess students’ concepts mastery was seen from the relationship between students’ score in multiple-choice evaluation and the score of concept map evaluation based on class clasification from multiple choice score: upper class, middle class, and lower class. The result shows that the N-Gain in experimental group (0,73) is greater than N-Gain in control group (0,62). The effectiveness of concept maps as an evaluation tool is quite effective because otherwise the results showed that students' grades multiple-choice acquisition value is directly proportional to students in making a concept map. It can be conclude that concept maps can be used as a learning strategy as well as an evaluation tool. Keywords: concept map, learning strategy, evaluation tools, concept mastery, excretory system

Abstract

Beberapa mikroorganis medapat mendegradasi amilosa yang terdapat pada tanaman yang memiliki komponen patiter besar. Penelitian isolasi dan seleksi jamur pendegradasi amilosa pada empelur tanaman sagu (Metroxylon saguRottb.), telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat jenis jamur pada empelur tanaman sagu yang memiliki potensi mendegradasi amilosa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat jenis isolat jamur yang memiliki potensi yang baik dalam mendegradasi amilosa. Ke empat jenisisolat jamur yang ditemukan adalah Aspergillus niger, Geotrichumsp., Aspergillusoryzae, dan Rhizopusoyzae.
