Based on the concept the study design to find out the effect of isolated and combined core strength and yoga practices on selected biomotor parameters of adolescence boys. For the purpose of the study 45 Adolescent School boys from Government Higher Secondary school Barbugh Imamsahib Shopian were selected as subjects. The age rang of the selected subjects from 14 years to 17 years. The subjects were divided into three groups of fifteen namely core strength training group (n=15), yoga practice group (n=15) and combined core strength yoga practices group (n=15). The speed and explosive power were selected as biomotor variables. The variables were tested by using 50 m dash and Sarjent jump. The experimental groups underwent there training for 12 weeks, 4 days per week, 45 to 60 minutes per day with suitable warming up and cooling down exercise. The criterion variables were tested prior to and immediately after the training programme. The collected data were analysed using ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) and scheffe’s post hoc test was applied to know the paired mean differences if the optioned ‘f’ ratio was significant. The level of significance fixed at.05. After investigating the study, there was a significant difference among experimental groups on selected speed and power parameters. The study also shows that the combined training group shows better improvement on criterion variables when compared with isolated training groups.

Abstract

This research explores the Interaction of Disasters and the Agricultural Sector on Food Security utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) approach. Food security is crucial for human survival and well-being, making it a priority in any country. Indonesia has been one of the countries prone to disasters over the past decade, impacting the prevalence of food insecurity. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of disasters on food security mediated by the agricultural sector. Sample selection involved a saturated sampling technique comprising 23 regencies/cities in the Province of Aceh. Data analysis in this research utilized SEM-PLS. The findings indicate that disasters do not influence food security, but they do affect the agricultural sector. Conversely, the research results demonstrate that the agricultural sector does not influence food security. Another significant finding in this study is that the agricultural sector does not significantly mediate the impact of disasters on food security.

Abstract

Spatial planning is arranged in a tiered hierarchy with spatial planning and regulation arranged through different levels, starting from the national level to the regional level. Each level has its own role and authority in preparing spatial plans which must be in harmony with the level above it. This hierarchy ensures that every spatial plan at the lower level must refer to and be in harmony with the spatial plan at the upper level, so as to create harmony and integration in the planning and use of space throughout Indonesia. The basic problems and conflicts in space utilization are the existence of significant challenges due to overlapping policies, regulations and geospatial information. The research is in Tebing Tinggi City, where in 2023 the Tebing Tinggi City Government and the North Sumatra Provincial Government will have revised the RTRW, so that a spatial study of the synchronization of the Provincial RTRW and City RTRW is needed. This research aims to provide an overview of the evaluation of the discrepancies in the revised spatial pattern plan of Tebing Tinggi City with the Revised RTRW of North Sumatra Province and to provide steps to resolve the discrepancies that occur which are useful as material for discussion and evaluation of the Revised RTRW of Tebing Tinggi City at the North Sumatra Province level. The research method uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with spatial exploration. Spatial analysis uses the ArcGIS 10.8 application to overlay which produces a comparison scheme. The matching scheme is then grouped into categories and typologies of "No Problem" and "Indication of Problem" suitability. Then the typology of conformity in "Problem Indications" becomes a priority follow-up to synchronize spatial pattern plans on non-conformity contents. The research results show that there are 3 (three) discrepancies in the typology of "Problem Indications", namely discrepancies in regional boundaries, discrepancies in protected rice fields (LSD), and inconsistencies in defense and security areas with a total area of 51.17 hectares (1.30%). The follow-up to resolving discrepancies as a synchronization effort is in the form of improvements to the Tebing Tinggi City RTRW Revision document in accordance with the latest regulatory data which has also been adopted by the North Sumatra Province RTRW Revision.

Abstract

Abstract: We evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of South Africa’s industrial policy between 1994 and 2023, to provide policy makers with informed recommendations for improving the effectiveness of this policy. The methodology used in this paper is that of the desktop literature review of government policy documents, legislation, industrial output reports, and academic work related to South African industrialization. We find that South Africa’s industrial policy in South Africa failed to reach its stated targets as there were many problems that contributed to its ineffective implementation. The study recommends that policymakers must revise its industrial policies (to improve its clarity, consistency, and scope) and improve the services provided by the public sector, to enhance industrialization’s effectiveness in growing South Africa’s economy.

Abstract

Climate change as a human security threat has weakened the ability of states to deal with severe weather patterns, droughts, land degradation, flooding, and other climate-related changes. This has significantly affected poor communities in developing countries as they are prone to low precipitation, high temperatures, and high poverty levels. In light of this, communities in Lesotho have for generations been adapting to climate induced hazards and risks by developing situation specific livelihood practices and building resilience of their households and communities. Nonetheless, in recent years, the increasing intensity and frequencies of climate extremes have revealed the limitations of indigenous and local knowledge in dealing with the scourge of climate change. As such, the need for the integration of indigenous and scientific knowledge systems in coping with and adapting to climate change. The study being qualitative in nature relied on the extensive review of purposively selected written sources which include journal articles, books, book chapters, Government publications, newspapers, magazines as well as a Key Informant interview to collect data which was analysed using thematic and content analysis techniques. The study established that, integrating traditional and scientific knowledge systems in dealing with climate change vulnerability and impacts in Lesotho is critical for policy makers to develop multi-level, multi-dimensional, multi-hazard and multi-disciplinary adaptation and resilience-building strategies and solutions that are sustainable, cost-effective and participatory. The integration of the scientific and indigenous knowledge and practices will help in proactively identifying current and future risks and hazards thus enabling the better implementation of climate-change policies in Lesotho.

Abstract

When a person decides to blow the whistle on wrongdoing in their workplace, they do so at great risk. This risk is not only posed to their employment but also to themselves and their loved ones as persons implicated often resort to retaliation. Therefore, whistle-blowers must be afforded maximum protection to cover all such risks. The Protected Disclosures Act (PDA) was enacted to protect whistle-blowers from retaliation. While the Act has been amended to include independent contractors and agents as some of the individuals who may receive protection, it does not provide for the concealment of the identity of the whistle-blower, or the information being disclosed. When no measures are taken to conceal the identity of the whistle-blower, they may be easily identified by the wrongdoer who may then ensue acts of retaliation. This research assesses the importance of confidentiality in whistle-blower protection. A comparative analysis is conducted to assess how some developed countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand have incorporated confidentiality in whistle-blower protection laws. This comparison allows some lessons to be drawn which can be adopted in South Africa to improve whistle-blower protection. In this research, it is therefore agreed that the lack of firm and reliable whistle-blower protection clauses in South African law, has devastating consequences for those who blow or intend to blow the whistle.

Abstract

The study evaluates the role played by the Civil Service Commission in promoting sound employment relations in Zimbabwe’s public sector specifically at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in the Mutare District from 2012 to 2016. The article delves on the nature of the Civil Service Commission, employment relations, the role of the CSC in promoting sound employment relations among a multiplicity of issues. The research explored the functions of the CSC and the challenges it is facing in the promotion of sound employment relations in Zimbabwe’s educational sector. The study relied on the mixed methods approach hence it incorporated qualitative and quantitative methods in the selection of the participants, data collection and data analysis. The findings of the research study indicated that Zimbabwe has not fully managed to promote sound employment relations in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education as it faces a myriad of challenges which include: political instability and economic decay, delays in service delivery, mismanagement of public funds and abuse of office. To address the identified challenges the study recommended the comprehensive adoption of noble corporate governance practices in the public sector and the privatization of the CSC in order to cease the government’s intervention in its processes.
