Abstract

Healthcare services in Indonesia, as a multicultural country, face challenges in providing culturally sensitive nursing care. Clinical leadership plays a crucial role in developing nurses’ cultural competence to reduce patient anxiety, which can influence the healing process. This study aimed to examine the influence of clinical leadership on nurses’ cultural competence and its role in reducing patient anxiety in the inpatient ward of Nurul Hasanah Hospital. This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design, involving 120 nurses and 150 patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Clinical Leadership Survey, Intercultural Competence Scale in Nursing, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that clinical leadership was rated high (mean = 3.82), cultural competence moderate (mean = 3.45), and patient anxiety moderate (mean = 42.8). Clinical leadership had a positive effect on cultural competence (β = 0.687, p < 0.001) and a negative effect on patient anxiety (β = -0.214, p = 0.004). Cultural competence negatively affected patient anxiety (β = -0.478, p < 0.001) and partially mediated the relationship between clinical leadership and patient anxiety (β = -0.328, p < 0.001). Clinical leadership effectively reduces patient anxiety both directly and indirectly by enhancing nurses’ cultural competence. Strengthening clinical leadership and cultural competence may contribute to more culturally responsive and psychologically safe inpatient care.

Head nurses play a key role in creating a work environment that supports cultural safety. Transformational leadership enhances motivation, strengthens cross-cultural empathy, and fosters innovation in patient-centered care. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the head nurse’s leadership style and the implementation of cultural safety by nurses in pediatric care. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted using total sampling involving 45 pediatric ward nurses. Data were collected using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) Form 5X and a cultural safety assessment tool. Analysis was performed using the Chi-square test (α = 0.05). The results showed that most respondents were aged 26–35 years (53.3%), female (84.4%), held a Diploma in Nursing (62.2%), and had 1–5 years of work experience (40%). The predominant leadership style was transformational (46.7%). Cultural safety implementation was high (42.2%) and moderate (40.0%). A significant relationship was found between leadership style and cultural safety (p-value = 0.018). Transformational leadership was the most effective in enhancing cultural safety, with 66.7% of nurses under this leadership reporting a high level of cultural safety, compared to 56.3% moderate under transactional leadership and 62.5% low under laissez-faire. Abstract

The increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus has encouraged the search for more natural and sustainable management alternatives, one of which is through nutritional intervention using soluble fiber such as psyllium. This study aims to examine the effects of psyllium on blood glucose control and other metabolic parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes. The method used is a literature study from various relevant field studies, focusing on the results of psyllium consumption for a certain duration. The results of the study showed that psyllium was able to reduce fasting blood glucose levels, HbA1c, and increase insulin sensitivity. In addition, psyllium also contributes to weight loss and improving lipid profiles, such as reducing LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL. Thus, psyllium has great potential to be part of a comprehensive nutritional therapy that is safe and effective in managing type 2 diabetes.

Abstract

In this study, the case raised was a 17-year-old patient with Bell's Palsy Dextra who experienced complaints in the form of a deviation of the face to the left, weakness of the muscles of the right face, and disturbances when eating and drinking. Based on theory and literature review, the management of physiotherapy in Bell's Palsy includes the use of Infra Red to improve blood circulation and reduce pain, Electrical Stimulation to stimulate facial muscles and nerves, and Massage to improve the strength and function of facial muscles. Method In this research, this is a case study, raising patient cases and collecting data through the physiotherapy process. The modalities provided are Infra Red, Electrical Stimulation, and Massage. Conclusion In this study, the management of physiotherapy with Infra Red, Electrical Stimulation, and Massage for four times of therapy was proven to be effective in increasing facial muscle strength, reducing the level of pressure pain, and improving facial expression function in patients with Bell's Palsy Dextra. These results support that the combination of these three modalities can speed up the rehabilitation process and improve the overall quality of life of patients.

Abstract

Every pregnant woman will experience a process of adjusting the body to pregnancy according to the trimester stage being experienced. The first trimester causes nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum) in pregnant women. Nausea and vomiting usually occur in the morning (morning sickness), but some occur at night. Changes in the mother's body system during pregnancy require both physical and psychological adaptation so that it is not uncommon for mothers to experience discomfort in these changes so that prevention and treatment are needed. This study uses a quantitative research analytical type, a Quasi-experimental research design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. This research design has carried out the first observation (pretest) so that researchers can test the changes that occur after the treatment, but in this design there is no control group (comparison). the sample size used in this study used a sample of 20 pregnant women in TM I. Sampling by purposive sampling. There is a difference before and after being given peppermint aromatherapy on reducing nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester with a p value of 0.000. There is an effect of giving peppermint aromatherapy on reducing nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester at the Bantur Health Center, Malang Regency.

Abstract

Implantable contraceptives are highly effective as they can delay or prevent conception for a maximum of three years. Results from implanted contraceptives are as high as 97–99% effective. Finding out what makes pregnant women interested in implanted contraception was the driving force for this research. The research consisted of a cross-sectional analytic survey with 83 participants selected using a non-probability sampling procedure. The data was gathered using a questionnaire and subsequently analyzed using chi-square and spearman tests. An association between husband support (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05) and the interest of reproductive-age women in using implanted contraceptives was found in the data. Additionally, a correlation between interest and health worker information (p-value 0.009 < 0.005) was reported. Females of reproductive age who are interested in using implanted contraceptives do not differ according to age, education, knowledge, parity, or career. Husband support and health worker knowledge are the elements that are connected with the interest of women of childbearing age (PUS) towards the use of implant contraceptives, according to these data. Health care practitioners are encouraged to enhance therapy approaches by include spouses into counseling sessions and helping them choose a strategy of family planning. There is a high expectation that they would dispel myths and misconceptions regarding implanted contraceptives and provide comprehensive community education on the process.
