Abstract

Hypertension and elevated blood glucose levels are two chronic conditions that are often found concurrently and are major risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Although the relationship between the two has been extensively studied, specific data within certain professional groups such as police officers remain limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between hypertension and blood glucose levels among police officers aged 30–60 years at the Pasuruan Police Resort. The study employed a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 60 police officers selected using purposive sampling. Data were obtained through blood pressure measurements and random blood glucose tests, and then analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Fisher’s Exact Test. The results showed that 83.3% of respondents had hypertension, and 13.3% of them had elevated blood glucose levels. Statistical analysis using Fisher’s Exact Test revealed no significant relationship between hypertension and blood glucose levels (p = 0.330). It can therefore be concluded that there is no significant association between hypertension and blood glucose levels among police officers aged 30–60 years at the Pasuruan Police Resort. Further research is needed, taking into account other risk factors such as dietary patterns, physical activity, and family medical history.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of a forensic examination of a victim of alleged sexual abuse by her own father, reported by the South Sulawesi Regional Police. The forensic examination was conducted at the Forensic Medicine Unit of a hospital in Makassar on a 21-year-old woman. The comprehensive examination by the forensic team revealed no signs of acute physical violence. This means there was no evidence of fresh wounds caused by blunt or sharp objects, nor any signs of recent sexual penetration. This is a crucial finding, indicating that the alleged violence reported did not leave any traces of recent or active physical violence at the time of the examination. However, another crucial finding was the presence of an old tear in the hymen. The presence of this wound indicates that an injury had occurred in that area and that the wound had healed. This wound to the hymen can originate from various causes, including but not limited to old trauma, previous medical procedures, or even wounds related to past violent incidents that have undergone a healing process. The discovery of this old wound to the hymen requires further interpretation and needs to be linked to the victim's medical history and testimony in more depth to understand its context and cause. Even though there are no signs of new violence, the presence of old wounds that have healed remains important information in the investigation process and forensic assessment of cases of alleged sexual violence.

Abstract

Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) tuberculosis was tuberculosis resistance to at least two first-line drugs: isoniazid and rifampicin. This resistance meant that rifampicin and isoniazid were ineffective in eradicating the Mycobacterium bacteria. The primary factor contributing to MDR TB was treatment adherence. Non-adherence led to high rates of treatment failure and was directly linked to an increase in MDR TB cases. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the contributing factors of MDR TB to prevent and reduce new occurrences. To analyze the risk factors causing MDR TB incidence in Indonesia through a literature review. The study employed a literature review method, with data obtained from Google Scholar, Research Gate, Connected Papers, and Google Books. The study found several factors that contributed to MDR TB incidence, including patient adherence, motivation, alcohol consumption, smoking, nutritional status, diabetes mellitus, history of previous treatment, the role of healthcare workers, and contact with other TB patients. The conclusion of the 13 articles reviewed shows that adherence to treatment, motivation, alcohol consumption, smoking, nutritional status, diabetes mellitus, history of treatment, role of health workers, and contact with patients were factors influencing the occurrence of MDR-TB.

Abstract

Toddlerhood is often referred to as the golden age where humans experience rapid growth and development so that optimal nutritional fulfillment is needed. The problem of malnutrition in toddlers is a significant issue in Indonesia, especially in areas with limited access to health services. Mothers' lack of knowledge about nutrition and inadequate parenting patterns are contributing factors to this problem. A good health promotion strategy is needed to help the community in providing good knowledge and understanding to the community to overcome this problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the health promotion strategies by health workers and integrated health post cadres in an effort to prevent malnutrition in toddlers. The study used a qualitative method with in-depth interviews with 7 key informants: health workers, Posyandu cadres, local RTs, and mothers of toddlers at the Melati integrated health post at the Radamata Community Health Center . The results found that the health promotion strategy was implemented through community empowerment, involving Posyandu cadres to provide supplementary feeding to toddlers. A climate-building strategy was also implemented, but was not optimal due to the unconducive educational environment. Advocacy has been conducted with the local government to develop policies to support supplementary feeding through village funds. Partnerships have been established with the local Health Office to help monitor the nutritional status of toddlers at the Posyandu and provide counseling to the community. It was concluded that the health promotion strategy at the Melati Posyandu at the Radamata Community Health Center has been implemented, but has not been optimally implemented.

Abstract

Anterior crowding occurs due to a lack of coordination and disparity between tooth size and dental arch, resulting in available space limitation causing anterior tooth rotation and overlap. Removable orthodontic appliances combined with the Interproximal Reduction (IPR) technique have been used to correct anterior crowding. Case: A 26-year-old female came to Soelastri Dental and Oral Hospital of The Muhammadiyah Surakarta University with Angle Class I Dewey Type 1 malocclusion and individual dental malposition of maxillary and mandibular anterior (SNA 81°; SNB 78°; ANB 3°; overjet 3.3 mm; overbite 3.75 mm; convex profile). The treatment was carried out using removable orthodontic appliances combined with the IPR technique. Case Management: The Hawley appliances, consisting of labial arches and Adam clasps with active components were used for this case. A design modification of a U-shaped maxillary acrylic baseplate was made to free the torus on the palatal area. The IPR technique was done on the anterior teeth by slicing 0.25 mm for each side. The patient was instructed to use the appliances for 20 - 22 hours daily. Dental evaluation was scheduled every week to reactivate the springs. After 6 months, both mandibular canines were corrected and 41 showed significant movement mesiolabially. Conclusion: Patient compliance in wearing and maintaining the appliance could affect the correction of anterior crowding.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major global health issue contributing to cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, and premature death. Its prevalence continues to rise both globally and in Indonesia. Effective management often involves pharmacological treatment, with valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), widely used due to its efficacy and safety profile. This study aims to describe blood pressure changes in hypertensive patients treated with valsartan at one of hospital at Jember district. A descriptive observational study was conducted using medical records of patients receiving valsartan therapy from January to October 2022. A total of 4,907 patients were recorded, making hypertension one of the top ten most frequent diagnoses in the hospital. Results showed that valsartan effectively reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, with most patients achieving target levels after treatment. These findings suggest that valsartan is effective in managing hypertension and preventing complications when properly administered and adhered to. Continued monitoring and appropriate treatment selection remain essential for optimal patient outcomes.
