Abstract

Introduction: Academic satisfaction is a key indicator of the quality of education in higher education, which not only reflects the quality of service but also affects students' emotional well-being and the image and reputation of the institution. To improve the quality of academic services, higher education institutions must design innovative strategies that can optimally meet student needs.  Objectives: This study aims to analyze the academic satisfaction of undergraduate nursing students.  Method: This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique used a total sampling of 330 undergraduate nursing students in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Data collection used the Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI) questionnaire developed by Noel Levitz. Data analysis used descriptive statistics to assess the quality of education, guided by the size of the performance gap, the difference between the level of importance (importance rating), and the level of satisfaction (satisfaction rating), and the Importance Satisfaction Matrix analysis.  Result: The study showed that the dimension with the highest level of conformity was service excellence (99.34%), while the lowest was campus support services (76.72%). The Importance Satisfaction Matrix contains 10 items from six dimensions that need serious attention in quadrant I, namely ease of access to computers and Wi-Fi networks, laboratory equipment and learning support, completeness of books/journals/literature, student rights are respected in campus life, well-organized lecture and exam schedules, curriculum is designed according to current needs, ease of new student registration procedures, ease of obtaining scholarship information, administrative services that are not long-winded, campus policies consider the interests and impacts on students. Conclusion: Undergraduate nursing education institutions must conduct periodic evaluations through the Faculty Quality Assurance Unit (SJMF) and campus support service facilities to ensure that student rights are guaranteed and the academic experience meets student expectations.

Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is one of the leading global health problems and is often a complication of various degenerative diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. The prevalence of stroke as a degenerative condition has reached approximately 104.2 million people worldwide over the past three years. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of auricular acupressure in reducing depression among stroke patients. Methods: A randomized controlled trial design was used involving 24 respondents. Depression levels were measured before and after the intervention. Result: The findings revealed that the mean depression score before the intervention was 63.9 (SD =8.76), which significantly decreased to 50.6 (SD = 9.47) after the intervention. The effect size analysis yielded a value of -3.97, indicating a substantial effect of the intervention. Moreover, the p-value of 0.000 confirmed the statistical significance of this reduction. Conclusion: These findings support the hypothesis that auricular acupressure is effective in reducing depression levels among stroke patients. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and single-site setting, which may affect the generalizability of the results. Further studies with larger and more diverse populations are recommended.

Abstract

Introduction: Familiar Auditory Sensory Training (FAST) is an intervention that involves playing recorded sounds familiar to the patient to stimulate the auditory sense and increase the level of consciousness. This study assesses the effectiveness of FAST in enhancing Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores in stroke patients with impaired consciousness. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of FAST on improving the consciousness level in stroke patients who experience decreased consciousness. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements. The research subjects were stroke patients with decreased consciousness who received the FAST intervention. GCS scores were measured before and after the intervention to evaluate changes in the level of consciousness. Result: Data analysis showed that there was a significant increase in GCS scores after the implementation of FAST. Before the intervention, the average GCS score was 5.40, which increased to 6.40 after the intervention with a p-value of 0.006 < 0.05 and an effect size of 0.8 (strong effect). Conclusion: Familiar Auditory Sensory Training (FAST) was proven effective in increasing the level of consciousness in stroke patients with decreased consciousness, as evidenced by a significant increase in GCS scores. These results support the use of FAST as a non-invasive intervention to stimulate consciousness in patients with impaired consciousness.
