JOYCED Journal of Early Childhood Education is published for a global audience working to create positive, sustainable futures for children by seeking out and developing innovative solutions to education challenges. Our target audience includes practitioners in schools, non governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and education academics interested in innovative ideas and practices; global education advocates are foundations, government agencies, and college students. Abstract

Each child has a different character. In this case, the role of the family, especially the mother, is very supportive of the child in instilling the child's character according to his potential. The purpose of this study was to improve the character of children's courage through their mother tongue by using the classroom action research method conducted at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten in Sungai Pinang Ogan Ilir by researching two cycles consisting of 3 meetings with planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. Based on the research results in the first cycle, the minimum category developed as expected 67%, with the dominant indicator appearing as the attitude of doing something without worrying about the difficulties. In comparison, the minimum category increased to 87% in the second cycle, indicating that the child can face something with great confidence and great results. This shows that using the mother tongue can improve the character of the courage of early childhood.

Abstract

One way to build character early is through games, including traditional games. Apart from building character, this game can also develop aspects of children's religious and moral values. The purpose of this research is to make children's character. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research with an inductive approach, data collection techniques used are primary and secondary data through inductive methods. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, it shows that traditional games performed for early childhood using cublak-cublak suweng games can help train and develop the development of religious and moral values ​​in children aged 4-6 years by training children to behave well, honest, polite behavior, tolerance, train cooperation, and train children's creativity.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of playing while learning children with the hook method and its implications for language development for early childhood at Roudhoh Depok tutoring. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were PAUD students and educators at the Roudhoh Learning Guidance, Depok. Methods of data collection with interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses data analysis techniques from the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that the implementation of playing while learning with the hook method is a learning method that is given to introduce letters and how to read without coercion but with games that use visual aids and systems. Not spell, but hooks, which combine two letters (consonants and vowels) read together. The implication for the development of linguistic intelligence in early childhood is that it can produce students who can develop linguistic intelligence according to standards.

Abstract

Oral communication has an important aspect in early childhood. There are various activities that can be carried out in developing oral communication for early childhood, but sometimes children feel bored and bored in class because teachers teach only focused on magazines which causes the development of oral communication has not developed. The purpose of this study was to develop children's oral communication through the show and tell method at Karana Jaya Kindergarten, Lampung. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 19 children aged 5-6 years. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that in addition to the activities contained in the magazine to develop children's creativity, This show and tell activity is one of the right activities to do in developing children's oral communication. The conclusion of this research is to develop and improve oral communication skills through the show and tell method.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of parenting education programs among teachers and parents in education units that intend to improve children’s cognitive development. This research uses more descriptive qualitative research. They conducted this research in TK LKMD Catur Tunggal Piyungan with the research source of principals, teachers, and parents. The research data were obtained from interviews using the Google Form or WA application and also document studies. The study results explain that the application of parenting education can improve the cognitive development of early childhood. This is because 1) parents get knowledge related to STPPA or Childhood Development Achievement Level Standard so that the treatment of parents in conducting learning assistance is more conditioned. 2) parents get a way to do learning to children to assist children well, and children get a good stimulus in improving cognitive development.

Abstract

It is undeniable that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on society, especially in early childhood. Government policies to study from home increase stress both among parents and students. Teachers must design fun learning for children to attract children's interest in learning from home. This study provides an overview of the influence of loose part materials on children's creativity to provide an overview to educators and parents to utilize loose part materials in the surrounding environment. This research is qualitative descriptive research with the subjects in this study were children aged 4-7 years. Meanwhile, the sources of information or informants can be teachers and parents. Data collection in the field using observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique used is a data reduction technique to focus attention and select the data needed in research, presentation of data, and withdrawal of conclusions. The results show that loose part media has a tremendous influence on the development of children's creativity. Children can explore and experiment with loose parts to form works according to their imagination.

Abstract

Early childhood is the basis for instilling life values ​​in order to become creative and innovative human beings and have skills, one of which is by utilizing used materials in a learning activity at school. The purpose of this study was to find out more about the use of used materials as a medium to increase artistic creativity in early childhood in Flamboyan Kindergarten. This study uses a qualitative research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Observation, interview, and documentation are data collection techniques. While the data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing concluding. The results showed that the use of used materials can increase artistic creativity in Kindergarten Flamboyan which is used as teaching material by paying attention to aspects of child development. This is evidenced by the children exploring and creating works from used materials accompanied by their homeroom teacher.

Abstract

Worship guidance is explanation parents, or teachers give to their children to know the relationship between humans and God. This research aims to describe the guidance of parents in instilling independence in children's worship. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research results show that parents use various strategies, namely exemplary, habituation and advice. Parents seek these multiple strategies to instill religious independence. Some parents have not fully implemented it, so the level of maturity is not optimal. Parents should be a good mirror for them. The implication is that it is easier for children to understand if given real examples, not just advice and prohibitions. An activity will belong to the child, and the child will understand what should be done.

Abstract

This research was carried out to provide knowledge or choices to parents and teachers or educators that cognitive development can be improved through playing educational games. This research is qualitative descriptive research. With data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the research were the children of class B Maria Al-Qibty Islamic Kindergarten Al-Ittifaqiah Indralaya Ogan Ilir South Sumatra, amounting to 20 people. The results showed that there was an increase in children's cognitive abilities through educational games. This is evidenced by the increased cognitive abilities of children with the application of educational games, such as being able to classify differences according to type and color, comparing shapes around them, understanding various number concepts, distinguishing large and small, long and short, time, space, and so on. able to make good pictures or designs.

Abstract

Temper tantrums are angry reactions from early childhood that often occur when children show negative attitudes. This study aims to determine how the effect of parenting on temper tantrums in early childhood at RA Al-Azhar Langsa. This type of research is field research with a qualitative approach. Sources of data used are people who are the target of research, namely children, teachers, and parents. The data collection technique used is observation followed by interviews. To compose a research analysis, three lines of activities co-occur data reduction, presentation of three data, and concluding/verification. The author can suggest that parents can use appropriate parenting patterns to overcome children's temper tantrum behavior because there are positive things that can be seen from children's temper tantrum behavior. Namely, with temper tantrums, the child wants to show independence, desire, expression of expression, and frustration.
