Jurnal Pendidikan dan Ilmu Fisika (JPIF) is a peer-reviewed journal that is intended as a medium for disseminating ideas and research results in the fields of physics education and physics. The scope of this journal includes physics education, theory and application of physics. This journal is published twice a year, in June and December by Fakultas Pendidikan Islam dan Keguruan, Universitas Garut, Indonesia. The review process in this journal employs a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to experimentally verify Hooke’s Law and examine the elastic characteristics of a metal spring within its elastic region. A laboratory experimental method with a descriptive quantitative approach was employed by applying incremental loads of 50–80 g, where each load was measured through three repeated trials (n = 3) to improve data reliability. The resulting elongation was analyzed using linear regression between applied force and elongation. The results show a strong linear relationship, yielding an average spring constant of approximately 2.9 N/m, with the regression equation and a coefficient of determination close to 1.00, indicating high linearity. Measurement uncertainties arose primarily from instrument resolution (±0.5 mm) and possible parallax errors; however, these variations remained within acceptable limits and did not significantly affect the linear trend. These findings confirm that the spring operated within its elastic region and empirically support Hooke’s Law. The study also highlights the pedagogical value of experimental activities in enhancing students’ understanding of elasticity concepts and awareness of measurement uncertainty.

Abstract

The research is aim to determine the use of PhET simulation in physics learning on direct current (DC) electrical circuits through the design and analysis of a simple power bank with the help of PhET simulation. The experiment was conducted using the Circuit Construction Kit: DC module to build a circuit consisting of an electrical power source (battery), a load (resistor), a switch, and a current and voltage measuring instrument. With variations in resistance values, the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance was observed based on Ohm's Law. Through this activity, students can understand the basic concepts of direct current, electrical measurements, and the simple working principle of a power bank. PhET simulation has proven effective as an interactive learning medium because it facilitates visualization of current flow and helps analyze results without the need for physical laboratory equipment.   Keywords: DC, power bank,, Ohm law, PhET, interractive learning

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of a cookbook-based practicum method as an experimental technique in physics learning, particularly for the concept of liquid surface tension, and to examine its limitations related to the effects of temperature and rope length. The experiment was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung using simple materials such as soapy water, yarn, chopsticks, and a thermometer. This study examines the relationship between temperature and surface tension, which is theoretically inversely proportional. However, the experimental results show that surface tension increases with increasing temperature, indicating a direct relationship. This discrepancy between experimental results and theory occurs due to a decrease in liquid temperature during the practicum process, where the initial temperature of the hot water at  72°C decreased to near room temperature (22°C) by the end of the experiment, thereby affecting the measured surface tension values. The study also shows that variations in rope length affect the radius and surface tension of the liquid, indicating a shift in the distribution of intermolecular forces at the surface. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of monitoring experimental conditions and the need for a laboratory approach that is both more accurate and practical for educational purposes. These findings further emphasize that the cookbook-based practicum method is effective in supporting qualitative understanding of surface tension concepts, but has limitations in quantitative accuracy. Therefore, this study encourages the development of more structured and controlled simple practicum guidelines to support physics learning in educational laboratories.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model combined with E-Modules in improving high school students' science literacy in the subject of sound and light waves. The background to this study is the low level of science literacy among Indonesian students according to the PISA report, which ranks Indonesia at the bottom. PBL was chosen because it emphasises real-world problem solving, thereby encouraging active engagement, scientific reasoning, and collaborative skills. E-Modules are used as interactive, flexible, and independent learning-supporting digital teaching materials. This research sample consisted of 60 Grade XI students from Mitra Inalum Private High School, comprising 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The results of the analysis show that the application of PBL assisted by E-Modules has a significant effect on improving science literacy, as evidenced by the Independent Sample T-Test at α = 0.05 with a 2-tailed sig. of 0.000 and N-Gain value of 0.70 for the experimental class and 0.65 for the control class, indicating a higher increase in science literacy in the experimental class. In addition, 84.41% of students responded positively to the use of E-Modules. Thus, the integration of PBL and E-Modules is effective as a 21st-century physics learning strategy.
