Abstract

The present paper brings forth visual perception privacy issue in mass housing in Algiers. Considering a correlation between obstruction rates and visual perception privacy, the case study was selected to measure dwellers’ satisfaction according to Altman’s theoretical framework. A qualitative method was adopted and a semi-guided interview was conducted with 28 downtown mass housing residents in Algiers. On the other hand, to understand outsiders’ perspective regarding downtown dwellings’ perception, the qualitative method was supplemented by a survey involving 94 participants. Both methodological tools were structured according to previous non-participatory observation. Finally, the investigated area appears as being double-scaled: on an urban scale visual perception privacy measurement, people are satisfied, while on the residential scale, dissatisfaction prevails. From outsiders’ perspective, dynamic motions combined to street furniture create a visual protective shield between dwellers and unfamiliar outsiders, as the later perceive environment on a cognitive dimension, while familiar outsiders perceive it on an affective-emotional symbolic dimension.

Abstract

Environmental considerations or individual intentions influence taxpayer behavior. VAT changes may be a reaction to behavior either overtly or covertly. This research applies an approach approach with the method of interviews conducted with business actors. However, VAT can reduce profits by influencing consumers to spend resources and look for lower prices. Regarding the VAT rate, it is still considered unfair. Furthermore, double recording or splitting the business into several forms is implemented, which is passed on to other family members. Another option is to do tax planning to meet the tax burden. Decisions in the information action model can be based on rationality, routine behavior, nature/tradition and subjective norms / perceptual behavior. Findings from an environmental perspective are formed from the level of experience and age, as well as the encouragement of social communities and provide psychological stimuli for taxpayer behavior in assessing changes in tax regulations, especially about VAT rates.

Abstract

In the context of Algerian energy and environmental concerns and its aspirations for energy transition, this article examines the pre- and post-state of a multi-family residential building in the city of Skikda, in northern Algeria, utilizing the UBEM reduced-order approach, alongside QGIS, CEA and METEONORM tools. Primarily focusing on the building's solar exposure, energy aspects, and environmental considerations. Six hybrid renovation scenarios were considered then, and assessed for their contribution for energy savings and ecological improvement. The main results revealed that 87% of annual energy requirements were related to heating and hot water, which are supplied by a natural gas system, a source of various types of greenhouse gases, which suggested the use of triple glazing, with or without two selective low-emissivity coatings only, or be combined by changing hot-water supply system to an electric one, alongside the installation of the hybrid PVT panels on the south façade. This triple glazing was joint in another scenario by integrating the same type of panels on the roof alongside a seasonal thermal energy storage system. This latter scenario being the best in terms of energy and ecology, and making the building highly performant in both aspects.

Abstract

The present study addresses the multifaceted aspects of teaching translation by investigating students' perceptions and influences, considering both qualitative and quantitative standards. It explores the contributions of these standards to the translation teaching process and evaluates the predictive capability of quantitative standards. Focusing on 183 male and female students from Saida and El-Bayah Universities, the study used a questionnaire to collect data and statistical analysis using SPSS techniques. The findings showed a positive correlation between students' perceptions of teaching translation and both qualitative and quantitative standards. Furthermore, these standards were found to make significant contributions to teaching translation, indicating that teaching translation may be predicted using quantitative criteria. The study offers insightful information that can be used for enhancing translation programs, creating engaging learning environments, and improving teacher training in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This research examines in more depth how legal certainty regarding the validity of marriage certificates of different religions is held abroad after being recorded and reported to the Population and Civil Registry Office (Dukcapil), where the couple resides upon returning to the homeland. With lex loci celebrationis and lex fori principles, the state is expected to accept, recognize, and respect as the basis for recording and registration with the Dukcapil. This type of research is normative research using a statutory and factual approach. The data collection method used literature study, field research, and interviews. Based on the results and discussion of the research, it is found that Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who enter into marriages of different religions abroad under International Civil Law (HPI) are valid and recognized. However, when viewed from the applicable marriage law in Indonesia, it is invalid because it still has to be based on religious law. However, sociologically, the community still recognizes and accepts the existence of interfaith marriages.

Abstract

Cases of stunting and malnutrition that children suffer from or have the potential to have negative consequences for the future of the younger generation. There are 91 cases in Cipocok Jaya District spread across 8 villages. This occurs due to various factors including poverty, low education, lack of knowledge regarding good nutritional intake for children. A strategy is needed to communicate intensively with communities with stunted and malnourished children so that they can get out of this situation. This research uses a qualitative approach through observation and interview data collection. The research results show that the communication strategy in handling stunting and malnutrition through the Stunting Free 2023 (Bessan) program in Cipocok Jaya District, Serang City uses a communication strategy approach which includes getting to know the audience, compiling messages, determining methods and selection and use of media which has been effective. The communication strategy to get to know the audience is carried out through surveys and data collection, identifying indicators of sufferers and potential stunting. The second strategy determines the micro-scale goal of reducing stunting sufferers, the macro-scale of stunting cases at zero, where this treatment accommodates community self-help. The next communication strategy is to develop messages so that people's lifestyle behavior becomes healthy by conveying the importance of nutritious food intake for children. Methods for determining the methods used are socialization and counseling, accommodating community self-help through healthy exercise activities, regular recitations, and Gowes Lur events. This series of activities is a collaborative innovation in Cipocok Jaya District which involves stackholders starting from the Serang City Health Office, Serang City DP3AKB, KUA, as well as cadres from both posyandu cadres and PKK Community Institution cadres. Research findings show the importance of consistent mentoring or accompanying posyandu cadres and PKK community organizations as an important instrument for a sustainable communication strategy in efforts to reduce stunting and malnutrition rates.

The results of the study show that the actors involved in the protection of women migrant workers have shown cross-sectoral collaboration named Migrant Worker Resources Center one-stop service (LTSA- MRC) with gender sensitivity perspectives.
