Abstract

This article aims to analyze the integration of Pancasila values and the constitutional framework as the foundation of Indonesia’s national educational philosophy. The study employs a qualitative method using a library research approach through the analysis of normative documents, statutory regulations, and relevant scholarly literature. The data sources include normative documents such as the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Education System Act, educational regulations, academic books, and reputable scientific journals. Data analysis is conducted qualitatively through content analysis, normative interpretation, and conceptual synthesis to examine the integration of Pancasila values within the constitutional framework of national education. The findings indicate that the values of Pancasila elief in God, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice have been conceptually integrated into the goals, functions, and principles of national education as mandated by the 1945 Constitution and the National Education System Act. This constitutional framework emphasizes that education is not solely oriented toward intellectual development but also toward the formation of character, morality, and social responsibility among learners. Therefore, the integration of Pancasila values and the constitution serves as a crucial foundation for realizing a national education system that is character-based, equitable, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of applying translations of the works of Muslim scholars during the Renaissance as an important historical component in education. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data collection is conducted through a systematic review of relevant literature. The data sources include academic books, reputable scholarly journals, policy documents, research reports, and other relevant literature. Data analysis is carried out through categorization, interpretation, and thematic synthesis of the literature findings in order to draw systematic conceptual conclusions. To ensure data validity, this study applies source triangulation by comparing various references from different academic backgrounds. The results and discussion indicate that Islamic civilization played a significant role in the emergence of the Western Renaissance and the advancement of modern science. Scientific development occurred through cross-civilizational exchanges rather than in isolation. During the Islamic Golden Age, Muslim scholars developed intellectual traditions that integrated revelation, reason, and empiricism. The works of Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd, Al-Farabi, Al-Kindi, Al-Khawarizmi, and Ibn al-Haytham served as crucial bridges between Greek heritage and Europe’s intellectual revival. Through centers of learning in Baghdad, Andalusia, Cairo, and Damascus, Europe gained philosophy, medicine, mathematics, and scientific methods. The decline of Islamic science resulted from the collapse of political structures and scholarly institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to map research trends on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Visual Communication Design (VCD) during 2020–2025 through a Google Scholar–based bibliometric analysis. Bibliographic data were collected using Publish or Perish (PoP) with the query "problem based learning" AND ("visual communication design" OR "visual communication design"), and subsequently analyzed with VOSviewer to generate co-occurrence network, density, and temporal overlay visualizations. The final dataset consists of 200 documents, accumulating 927 citations, with an h-index of 15 and a g-index of 26. Visualization results indicate that dominant nodes are closely associated with applied learning contexts—particularly terms related to VCD and vocational/SMK settings—alongside terms related to learning evaluation and supporting instructional tools, such as outcome assessment (eg, posttest/test) and student activity enhancement. The density map confirms the concentration of terms around these dominant nodes, while the overlay map reveals temporal variation of terms within the visualized year range. Overall, the findings suggest that PBL research at the intersection of VCD captured by this corpus is more strongly oriented toward implementation and pedagogical outcomes than toward deeper conceptual elaboration specific to design reasoning. This study contributes a bibliometric evidence-based map of trends and thematic structure to support state-of-the-art reviews and sharpen future research agendas in PBL–VCD.

Abstract

This study aims to map the thematic development of research on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the context of Visual Communication Design (VCD) education linked to critical thinking and visual/creative thinking over the period 2015–2025, while identifying potential areas for research novelty. A bibliometric approach was employed by retrieving data using Publish or Perish (PoP) with Google Scholar as the data source and the following query: ("problem-based learning" OR "PBL") AND ("critical thinking") AND ("visual thinking" OR "creative thinking") AND ("visual communication design" OR "graphic design education" OR "design education"). Retrieved metadata were exported in .RIS format and analyzed using VOSviewer to generate term-mapping visualizations, including density, network, and overlay maps. The results indicate a corpus of 500 documents with 11,988 citations, an average of 23.98 citations per paper, and impact indices of h-index = 52 and g-index = 99. VOSviewer mapping shows “critical thinking” as the most dominant and central node, surrounded by pedagogical implementation and design terms such as implementation, model, and effect, as well as educational context terms including teaching, teacher, and higher education. The terms technology and collaboration also appear connected within the network, while visual-creative outcome terms such as creative thinking ability and students' creative thinking emerge as part of the thematic structure. Overall, these findings suggest that the retrieved research landscape is strongly centered on critical thinking and pedagogical implementation, with notable links to higher-education contexts and technology–collaboration supports.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of conventional Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Green Chemistry–integrated PjBL in improving learning outcomes and 21st-century skills in chemistry education. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by synthesizing findings from 17 national and international scholarly articles relevant to the research focus. The SLR process followed structured stages, including identification, selection, data extraction, and narrative synthesis. The variables analyzed included cognitive learning outcomes, 21st-century skills (Higher Order Thinking Skills, creativity, collaboration, and communication), learning engagement, environmental literacy, and project product quality. The results of the SLR indicate that both conventional PjBL and Green Chemistry–integrated PjBL are consistently reported to enhance learning outcomes and 21st-century skills compared to traditional instructional approaches. However, Green Chemistry–integrated PjBL demonstrates a broader range of learning impacts. In addition to improving academic achievement and 21st-century skills, this approach is reported to foster environmental literacy, understanding of Green Chemistry principles, student engagement, and the development of sustainability-oriented project products. These findings suggest that integrating Green Chemistry provides substantial added value to the implementation of PjBL in chemistry learning. This study concludes that Green Chemistry–integrated PjBL offers a more comprehensive pedagogical approach than conventional PjBL in supporting 21st-century chemistry education and Education for Sustainable Development. The findings are expected to serve as both a conceptual and practical reference for educators, researchers, and policymakers in designing project-based chemistry learning that emphasizes sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to map the scientific publication landscape on character education from an Islamic perspective using a Google Scholar–based bibliometric approach. Data were collected through Publish or Perish using the query (“character education” OR “moral education”) AND Islam for the 2015–2025 publication period, exported in RIS format, and analyzed in VOSviewer to generate keyword co-occurrence maps. The dataset consists of 500 documents with 18,309 total citations, averaging 1,664.45 citations per year and 36.62 citations per document. Citation impact indicators show an h-index of 62 and a g-index of 103, and most documents have received at least one citation (488 documents with ≥1 citation). VOSviewer visualizations position “character education” as the most dominant and central node, closely connected to conceptual and implementation-related themes such as “moral education,” “concept,” “school,” “Islamic boarding school/Islamic boarding school,” “management,” “character education program,” “family,” and “child,” while “digital era” emerges as a peripheral contemporary context. Overall, the mapping indicates that research on Islamic character education forms a thematic structure linking conceptual–normative foundations with institutional and programmatic dimensions of implementation. This study contributes a thematic roadmap that can inform more focused future research, particularly by strengthening connections across clusters and exploring still-peripheral topics.
