Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of Flipbook Maker-based learning media in Computer Graphics classes at vocational schools, resulting in conventional learning processes that are less appealing to students. This study aims to develop and determine the effectiveness of Flipbook Maker-based learning media in improving student learning outcomes. The research method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest model. The research subjects were 30 students in class X DKV 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Luragung. Data were collected through learning outcome tests in the form of pre-tests and post-tests, as well as student response questionnaires to determine the practicality of the media. Data analysis was conducted by comparing the average pretest and posttest scores and calculating the increase in learning outcomes using gain scores. The results showed that the average pretest score of 63.67 increased to 79.17 on the posttest, with a difference of 15.5 points. This increase shows that the use of Flipbook Maker media is effective in improving student learning outcomes in Computer Graphics. In addition, student response to this media was very good, as it was considered interesting, easy to use, and helpful in understanding the material. Thus, Flipbook Maker-based learning media is suitable for use as an innovative alternative in technology-based learning in vocational schools

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of non-formal education based on women’s empowerment in enhancing business competence, economic independence, and household welfare in the era of social transformation. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach through descriptive analysis. Data were obtained from Google Scholar and credible websites with a publication range between 1964–2025. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive analysis, which involved organising information, identifying key themes, comparing findings across studies, and presenting comprehensive interpretations. From 50 initial articles, after a strict selection process based on relevance and quality, 32 articles were used as the main sources. The results indicate that non-formal education contributes significantly to building women’s entrepreneurial skills, increasing financial independence, and strengthening family welfare. The integration of digital literacy, social capital reinforcement, and community support has proven to enhance the effectiveness of non-formal education programs amid the dynamics of social transformation. This study also highlights the relevance of Human Capital Theory, Empowerment Theory, Capability Approach, and Network Society in understanding the relationship between non-formal education and women’s empowerment. The findings provide practical implications for the development of community-based programs, theoretical implications in enriching the literature on women’s empowerment, and policy implications in formulating sustainable socio-economic development strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze multimodal discourse construction in digital-based Indonesian language learning materials with a case study on the SIPEBI platform. The approach used is descriptive-analytical qualitative with a Systemic Functional Multimodal Discourse Analysis (SF-MDA) theoretical framework to examine the relationship between modalities in constructing pedagogical meaning. The research object includes multimodal discourse in digital materials, which is examined through a comprehensive literature study of journals and academic books focusing on multimodal discourse analysis, multimodality theory, and technology-based language learning. The results show that SIPEBI is capable of integrating various modes, such as text, images, audio, video, and interactive elements that support each other in constructing learning meaning. The interaction between these modes produces three main functions, namely reinforcement, complementarity, and integration, which contribute to improving understanding, engagement, and adaptation to students' diverse learning styles. Thus, Indonesian language learning through SIPEBI becomes more contextual and meaningful.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), or the fear of being left behind in the flow of information and social interaction, is one of the factors that influence the psychological condition of adolescents in their use of social media. This study aims to analyse the forms of discourse expressing adolescent anxiety that appear on social media and to examine this phenomenon from a pragmatic perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach with pragmatic discourse analysis methods. Data in the form of adolescent speech quotations were collected from Instagram, X, and TikTok platforms by searching for hashtags relevant to the FOMO phenomenon. The results show that adolescents' expressions of anxiety due to FOMO are not always conveyed explicitly but are present in the form of implied meanings through certain word choices and language styles. Words such as ‘left behind’ or ‘out of date’ indicate a concern about missing important moments, while pragmatic strategies such as humour, irony, and repetition are used to mask feelings of anxiety. Teenagers' speech also reflects social pressure from their peer environment, which influences the way they communicate in the digital world. These findings confirm that FOMO plays an important role in shaping digital communication patterns and impacts the mental health of teenagers. Through pragmatic analysis, the results of this study can form the basis for the development of healthier digital literacy and strategies to prevent the negative impacts of social media.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the teacher's efforts in fostering the reading interest of third-grade students at SDN 15 Sungai Raya, focusing on four areas: (1) reading attention, (2) reading fondness, (3) reading time, and (4) the number of reading books. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques of interview and observation. The subject of this study was the III-C class teacher, and the object of this study was 25 students of class III-C at SDN 15 Sungai Raya, consisting of 12 male students and 13 female students. The research findings on the teacher's efforts to foster students' reading interest indicate that the third-grade teacher implemented various strategies to enhance students' reading interest, including habitual reading for fifteen minutes before lessons, providing attractive reading materials, giving motivation, and appreciation to actively reading students. Nevertheless, there are still obstacles such as the limited collection of reading books that match students' interests. Overall, the efforts made by the teacher have had a positive impact in forming a reading culture within the classroom environment.

Abstract

This study was motivated by preliminary findings from interviews with classroom teachers, which showed that some first-grade students at SDN 14 Sungai Raya still had difficulty with early reading. These difficulties included the ability to string together vowels, distinguish between letters that are similar in shape, such as b, d, p, n, m, v, and w, and read syllables consisting of more than three letters. Based on these conditions, this study aims to analyze the forms of difficulty in early reading among first-grade students at SDN 14 Sungai Raya. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through early reading tests covering aspects of letter recognition, reading meaningful and meaningless words, reading aloud, reading comprehension, and listening. The research subjects consisted of 18 students, namely 8 boys and 10 girls. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively by grouping the test results according to the students' reading ability categories. The results showed that most students still had difficulty recognizing letters, tended to read by spelling, and experienced difficulties in reading meaningless words. In addition, their reading aloud and reading comprehension skills were still low, while their listening skills varied among students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by preliminary observations that showed low levels of active participation, interest in learning, and engagement among students in class IV-B at SDN 15 Sungai Raya. These conditions prompted the need for a study on how teachers manage student motivation in the classroom. This study aims to describe how teachers manage student learning motivation in class IV-B. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through observation and interviews with teachers and students. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages. The results of the study show that teachers have been able to manage most aspects of student learning motivation well, including the desire and will to succeed, motivation to learn, future expectations, appreciation for learning, and interesting learning activities. However, the conducive learning environment aspect still needs to be improved so that students are more focused and comfortable during the learning process. Overall, the implementation of varied, interactive learning strategies that are tailored to student characteristics contributes positively to increasing learning motivation in the classroom

Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning styles of fourth-grade students in class IV-B at SDN 07 Pontianak City. The background of this research is based on the differences in students' learning characteristics observed during the learning process, where some students appear to understand the material more easily through visual means, while others through auditory or hands-on activities. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of the research are all 19 students of class IV-B. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations used to identify students' learning style tendencies based on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic categories. The data analysis technique is conducted through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that the learning styles of students in class IV-B of SDN 07 Pontianak Kota are diverse, but are dominated by the visual learning style. Based on the questionnaire, there are 9 students with a visual learning style, 3 auditory, and 7 kinesthetic. Meanwhile, the observation results show 8 students with a visual style, 7 auditory, and 4 kinesthetic. These findings indicate the importance for teachers to apply a variety of learning strategies that can adjust to students' learning style characteristics so that the learning process is more effective and enjoyable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of TikTok usage on the language habits of Generation Z in Indonesia. The background of this study stems from the widespread use of slang that has rapidly developed through social media, particularly TikTok, which has slowly shifted the use of standard Indonesian in everyday communication. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design. Data were collected through a survey of 63 active TikTok users and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that 41% of respondents often and 14% very often use slang such as mager, baper, bestie, gaje, and kepo in daily interactions, exceeding the use of standard Indonesian. The analysis of the findings shows that TikTok plays a significant role in strengthening the spread and normalization of informal language among Gen Z. Although this phenomenon reflects the linguistic creativity and identity of the younger generation, it also raises concerns about their formal language skills. Therefore, this study concludes that there is a need for balanced language education efforts so that Gen Z can use slang contextually without neglecting the accuracy of Indonesian language in formal settings

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Discourse of Modernism in Islamic Education from the Perspective of the Philosophy of Values. The type of research used is library research, which involves analyzing various conceptual information and data, both qualitative and quantitative, derived from previous scholarly articles. The data analysis techniques in this library research include data reduction, categorization, thematic synthesis, interpretation, and theoretical conclusion drawing. Based on the findings and discussion, the discourse of modernism in Islamic education from the perspective of the philosophy of values emphasizes the importance of harmonizing Islamic teachings with the development of modern science and technology in a selective manner. Modernism is not understood as blind acceptance of new ideas, but as a filtering process to ensure alignment with Islamic principles. Islamic education is required to integrate religious and general knowledge in order to produce a generation that is both Islamic in character and globally competitive. Value-related challenges arise from spiritual crises, materialism, and the negative impacts of technology. Therefore, the philosophy of values serves as a reconstructive approach to balance knowledge, faith, morality, and social responsibility in order to form insan kamil with an authentic Islamic identity.
