Abstract

The paper, "Resistance and Rebellion: Tribal Responses to Babur's Rule," provides an insightful look into the most formidable and multi-dimensional challenges for the founder of the Mughal Empire, Babur, in consolidating power over the Indian subcontinent. Tribal responses emerged with the fiercest opposition from various tribes in the form of mounting resistances and rebellions against Babur for the continuation of their independence, traditional customs, and economic power. Some of the causes of tribal resistance include the desire for sovereign existence and cultural identity and even economic and religious reasons. During the early 16th century, the Indian subcontinent comprised separate tribal polities, exercising their range of independence under regional chieftains. Territories within such regions as northwest India and Rajasthan and central India were governed by tribes like the Afghans, Rajputs, Bhils, and Gonds. Their military and political power was an intense counter force to Babur's centralized Mughal state. The most significant uprisings were by Rana Sanga amongst the Rajputs. Afghan tribes in the east launched multiple uprisings to assert their independence. The native people in central India used their strategic locations effectively to resist Babur's advances. This essay seeks to analyze the various dimensions of rebellion and strategic steps that Babur undertakes, ranging from military campaigns to diplomatic efforts and even tribal chiefs entering into his administration. Military subjugation was the very necessity, but Babur's input of assimilating tribal elites through land assignments and other titles also played a crucial role in consolidating his power. These tactics emerged only to suppress the immediate resistance and laid the bases for more sophisticated practices under his successors for the Mughal Empire. This book explores major tribal uprisings and their relevance by showing how such resistance took shape in the political and administrative geography of the early Mughal Empire, and situates this within broader socio-political dynamics in the context of how deep-rooted tribalism was an autonomous nature in early Mughal India.

Abstract

Effective procurement is critical to improving business operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring that required goods and services are available at the right quality and on time. In the 2020–2023 period, PT PLN (Persero) UIP Sumbagut faced problems in achieving contracted work targets, with an average of only 50% of the procurement plan. To achieve this, research needs to be conducted to evaluate the various components that influence procurement performance and develop solutions for improvement. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through observation and distribution of questionnaires, as well as case analysis and literature approaches. The TOWS analysis method is used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced during the procurement process. The results of the internal factor evaluation (IFE) and external factor evaluation (EFE) matrices show that this strategy is in Quadrant III, or the stabilization stage. The focus of this strategy is to maximize strengths and opportunities while reducing weaknesses and threats. The resulting strategies are accelerating the readiness of tender documents, optimizing the use of digital procurement, standardizing and updating tender documents and creating work instructions, utilizing information technology, increasing risk mitigation, increasing synergy and collaboration with stakeholders, as well as increasing HR competency.

One strategy that farmers can employ to mitigate this impact is integration, which establishes a mutually beneficial relationship between the two agricultural practices. This study examines the potential benefits of integrating coffee and honeybee cultivation (Inkolema) for increasing coffee productivity, farmers' income and the sustainability of coffee farming in Bener Meriah Regency. The research was conducted over the period from October 2023 to September 2024, with a total of 65 coffee farmers who had implemented Inkolema, in addition to five key respondents. The method of analysis was descriptive. Initially, the difference test of coffee productivity and farmers' income was conducted using paired sample t-tests on the SPSS software. Subsequently, a multi-dimensional scale (MDS) sustainability analysis was performed with the Rapcoffee application, which is a modification of Rapfish. The findings indicated a notable disparity in coffee productivity and farmers' income on coffee farms prior to and following the implementation of Inkolema. The placement of 13 bee colonies on one hectare of coffee land has been found to increase coffee productivity by 2.87% and 4.44% has been increasing farmer income from the coffee sources. The implementation of Inkolema has been observed to positively impact crop pollination and pest control, thereby increasing the quality and quantity of production. The sustainability index analysis indicates that the implementation of Inkolema can be classified as moderately sustainable, with a multidimensional index value of 73.25%, encompassing ecological, economic, and social dimensions. The utilization of coffee skin waste, waste disposal, income comparison with district minimum wage, land area, education participation, and extension roles were identified as sensitive factors in sustainability. In finally the study concluded that Inkolema has the potential to improve farmers' economic welfare through resource efficiency, income diversification and contribute to the sustainability of coffee farming.

Abstract

The prevailing business paradigm, largely rooted in Western economic principles, relies heavily on capital acquisition through bank loans. This model is mirrored by CV Mitra Karya Lima Sukses (MKLS), a construction and procurement firm that employs a collaborative management approach. While the community often turns to interest-bearing loans or loan sharks, MKLS recognizes the inherent inefficiencies associated with non-value-added interest. To mitigate this, the company has implemented strategies that include collective capital contributions from its employees. However, a comprehensive oversight framework for other business activities remains elusive. Implementing robust control activities is imperative to ensure smooth and effective operations. The COSO model, encompassing environmental control, risk assessment, activity control, information and communication, and monitoring, provides a suitable framework for achieving this goal. Research indicates potential risks, including the threat of fraud within collaborative endeavors. To address these concerns, agreements and insurance mechanisms can be employed to mitigate risks and promote equitable outcomes.

Abstract

In this modern era, talking about information technology is no longer a new thing. Information technology has become an integral element in everyday life and plays an important role in supporting various human activities. Many organizations compete to create applications to solve various problems faced. Every time a new problem arises, applications are often considered the main solution that can be relied on. However, this tendency can cause new problems. The applications created sometimes overlap and cause data redundancy and increase the volume of work, so that information technology created to make work easier on the other hand actually adds to the work. This study discusses how to align business strategies and information technology so that the information technology used can make work more effective and efficient. This study uses TOGAF as the main tool to create the right information technology management strategy. This study found that integrated information technology can be used as a solution to reduce redundancy.
