Abstract

Children with special needs, especially those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), require adaptive therapy services that are tailored to their developmental characteristics. The development of digital technology in the current era has opened up opportunities for the use of digital media as a tool in the therapy process for children with ADHD. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital technology use in therapy services for children with ADHD, identify the challenges faced by therapists, and formulate recommendations for the appropriate and safe use of digital technology. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects consisted of four therapists who provided therapy services to children with ADHD at a special needs child development therapy institution in Metro City, Lampung Province. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews and direct observation, then analyzed thematically. The results showed that the use of digital media can have a positive impact in the form of increased focus, motivation, and involvement of children in therapy, as well as helping to develop self-control skills. However, the use of digital media also poses challenges and negative impacts such as the risk of excessive distraction, gadget addiction, sleep pattern disorders, and limited digital competence of therapists. Therefore, the use of digital technology in ADHD therapy needs to be planned, directed, tailored to the child's needs, and supported by direct assistance from therapists and active involvement of parents.

Abstract

Career maturity among high school students needs attention because students are at an important stage in determining further study plans and future career choices. Some students still experience difficulties in recognizing their interests, understanding educational opportunities, interpreting career information, and making responsible decisions. This article aims to examine career guidance service strategies to support high school students' career maturity. This study used a literature review method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The reviewed literature consisted of national journal articles, academic books, and methodological references relevant to career guidance, career maturity, career planning, career exploration, digital media, self-concept, and guidance and counseling services. The findings show that career maturity can be supported through career information services, career exploration, classical guidance, group guidance, digital media utilization, self-concept strengthening, and collaboration between school counselors and the school environment. These strategies help students understand their potential, evaluate alternative choices, and develop more realistic career plans. This review emphasizes that career guidance should be designed systematically, contextually, and continuously.

Abstract

Bullying in boarding-based educational environments needs attention because students live in close, repeated, and not always well-supervised social spaces. One relational pattern that may influence this condition is seniority. Seniority can help junior students adapt to boarding school rules and culture, but it may also turn into a space of domination when it is not supported by clear boundaries, supervision, and educational values. This article aims to examine the dynamics of seniority and bullying behavior in boarding-based educational environments. This study used a literature review method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The reviewed literature consisted of national journal articles, official sources, and methodological references relevant to seniority, senior-junior relations, bullying, pesantren, boarding schools, and violence prevention. The findings show that seniority has educational value when practiced through role modeling, mentoring, responsibility, and supervision. Conversely, seniority accompanied by pressure, humiliation, domination, and normalized violence can encourage verbal, physical, social, and psychological bullying. Prevention should be directed through reorganizing senior roles, assisting junior students, strengthening caretaker supervision, developing continuous anti-bullying education, and providing safe reporting mechanisms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Andhap Asor culture in counseling communication using a qualitative approach with a literature review method. The value of Andhap Asor in Madurese culture describes a person as having humble behavior, politeness, and respect for one another. Andhap Asor culture is one of the important values that can influence the dynamics of communication in the counseling process, especially in building a therapeutic relationship between the counselor and counselee. The research method used is a literature review by examining several research sources found in Google Scholar and published between 2021-2026. The keywords used to explore the information are "Madurese culture, Andhap Asor, and counseling communication". The data analysis technique was carried out by collecting groupings and interpreting data to find patterns and meanings of the implementation of Andhap Asor cultural values in counseling communication practices in Madurese society. The results of the study indicate that Andhap Asor cultural values have an important role in increasing the effectiveness of counseling communication, especially in building a harmonious therapeutic relationship between counselors and clients. Values such as humility, politeness, and respect have been shown to create a sense of comfort, increase trust, and encourage clients to be open in expressing problems. Furthermore, the application of Andhap Asor in verbal and non verbal communication also contributes to clarifying messages and minimizing misunderstandings. Therefore, the culture of Andhap Asor can serve as a strategic foundation for local culture-based counseling communication practices.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of salat (Islamic prayer) as an Islamic psychotherapy approach in enhancing the psychological tranquility of students at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Amin Palangka Raya. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The participants consisted of five tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria, namely students who showed indications of anxiety, emotional distress, restlessness, or difficulties in concentration during learning activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The findings revealed that salat was perceived to contribute positively to students' psychological tranquility through three main themes. First, salat functions as an emotional regulation mechanism that helps students manage anxiety, restlessness, and psychological pressure. Second, salat serves as a form of spiritual coping that provides inner peace, hope, and strengthens spiritual closeness to Allah SWT when facing various life challenges. Third, the effectiveness of salat in enhancing psychological tranquility is reinforced by social support from family and peers, who serve as important sources of emotional support. The findings indicate that salat is not only understood as a religious obligation but also as a form of Islamic psychotherapy that helps students achieve inner peace and better mental health. Therefore, salat has the potential to be integrated as an approach within Islamic Guidance and Counseling services in schools.

Abstract

This study is a systematic review of the literature aiming to investigate the influence of social media on communication patterns and social relationships among Generation Z. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, literature sources were selected from Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar, with a publication period between 2014 and 2025. The analysis reveals that social media has a complex and diverse impact on the interpersonal communication patterns of Generation Z: increased communication frequency, shifts in communication style toward more visual and instant forms, and a decline in face-to-face communication skills. Although negative impacts such as dependency and interference in active listening skills were identified, social media also provides positive impacts including broader global connectivity. These findings are analyzed through the frameworks of Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC), Uses and Gratifications Theory, Social Presence Theory, and Media Richness Theory. The implications of these findings are relevant for Guidance and Counseling (BK) services, particularly in the development of digital literacy programs and prevention of social media addiction among students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of adolescent self-identity within the punk community in Pasar Rejosari, Salatiga City, using Erikson's identity development theory, Marcia's identity status theory, Tajfel's social identity theory, and Mead's symbolic interactionism as the analytical framework. This research employs a qualitative method with an exploratory approach to understand the subjective experiences of adolescents in constructing and interpreting their identities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving four informants who are members of the punk community. The findings reveal that adolescent self-identity is represented through three main aspects: physical appearance, social interaction, and self-meaning. Physical appearance such as dark clothing, tattoos, accessories, and distinctive hairstyles serves as symbols of self-expression and freedom, while social interaction fosters solidarity, belonging, and acceptance for marginalized adolescents. Analyzed through Erikson's and Marcia's lenses, the punk community functions as a psychosocial moratorium space in which adolescents explore and consolidate identity commitments, while from Tajfel's perspective, group membership provides a positive social identity and self-esteem amid stigma from out-groups. This study also proposes a conceptual model of adolescent identity formation within the punk community and discusses its implications for guidance and counseling practice, particularly in supporting marginalized youth and fostering positive self-concept.

Abstract

Academic pressure is one of the common challenges experienced by university students during their academic life. This condition may affect students’ psychological well-being and encourage the emergence of various coping behaviors, including doom spending. This study aimed to describe the levels of academic pressure and doom spending behavior among students of the Economic Education Study Program at Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University of Riau. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The sample was selected using purposive sampling and consisted of active students of the Economic Education Study Program. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring academic pressure and doom spending behavior. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating mean scores to determine the category of each variable. The findings revealed that the level of academic pressure was in the moderate category with a mean score of 3.00. Meanwhile, doom spending behavior was also categorized as moderate with a mean score of 2.33. These results indicate that students experience a considerable level of academic demands and that some students tend to engage in impulsive spending as a response to certain emotional conditions. Therefore, strengthening guidance and counseling services, stress management programs, and financial literacy education is necessary to help students cope with academic pressure more adaptively and reduce excessive consumptive behavior.
