Abstract

Women during the national movement have seen that in addition to being a mother, they have the right to contribute, have an opinion and develop themselves. Elite women and those who were able to receive education at that time moved to inspire and make changes for Indonesian women to get their rights and progress afterward. For this reason, this article will discuss the rights of women who were fought for and the beginning of the existence of the movement to fighting for women's rights. From there it can be seen whether the rights that we get today are a gift from the struggle of the women's movement at that time and how hard they fought to get these rights. Because rights are what we can get regardless of age, gender and so on. By using data collection in the form of literature study and historical literature with related titles, then analyzed and poured descriptively. So, it can be said that the rights that were obtained by men at that time, we must also be able to get them. Then we have to maintain the rights that we have got and even have to advance them, or we develop again the rights that have not been fulfilled for women.

Abstract

The Catholic Church always provides space to fight for justice and gender equality in order to realize God's mission in the world. Women's lives have changed dramatically over the last quarter century. Progress on gender equality is still limited. The patriarchal culture that is still strong prolongs the suffering of the powerless and complicates the struggle and change towards justice and gender equality. Discrimination against women is a common problem in almost all occupations, even in most parts of the world. We can understand that gender is a difference that is not biological or not divine in nature. Through this article, the author wants to raise the theme of gender equality which is discussed based on the Catholic Church document, Gaudium Et Spes art. 29. This research uses a type of library research, which has the aim of tracing and analyzing data or information about the essence of the Gaudium Et Spes document Articles 9 and 29 in relation to Gender Equality. Gaudium Et Spes contribution document Articles 9 and Art. 29 is the similarity between men and women is through the institution of good will in the sense that both men and women participate in what the church stands for, namely the struggle to shape human life in a more humane way. The Catholic Church also emphasizes that this will take a long time, considering that the struggle for gender equality is not easy, especially in a world that is heavily influenced by patriarchalism social life.

Abstract

Roe V. Wade as an important ruling and guarantor of the life of United States women who want to have an abortion, has been officially canceled in 2022. The abolition of abortion rights, which has been around for nearly 50 years, was decided by the United States Supreme Court or SCOPUS, whose members are dominated by men, even though the people discriminated against here are 51% of the United States' population, which is their female population. The inability of U.S. women, particularly minority women and those in lower-middle-class economies, to fully hold autonomy over their respective bodies without prosecution is a form of neo-colonialism that can be explained from the research methods used is the review of the Literature, especially from the perspective of Gayatri C. Spivak in literature sources, namely her book Can the Subaltern Speaks, The subalterns in this discussion are a community of mothers who need medical attention related to pregnancy and their reproductive rights. Prohibited abortions here also count life-saving procedures for some women, rulings by a group of people considered highly exclusive and discriminatory against those who need legal protection for their actions. It should be that medical accessibility can include abortion surgery, and can be guaranteed by the state as a fair and thorough application of power. The silence of women's voices in deciding this policy is a form of discrimination, not only based on gender but also race.
