Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study examines the effectiveness of the “Kabulok Komad Quartet Card” learning media in improving students’ learning interest and learning outcomes in science (IPAS) learning at the elementary school level. Methodology: A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental posttest non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 22 fourth-grade students at Elementary School 01 Nambangan Lor, Madiun City, divided into an experimental group (n = 11) that utilized the Kabulok Komad Quartet Card learning media and a control group (n = 11) that used conventional textbook-based learning media. Data were collected using a learning interest questionnaire and a learning outcomes test, then analyzed through descriptive statistics and independent sample t-tests at a 0.05 significance level. Main Findings: The results reveal that students in the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher learning interest and learning outcomes compared to those in the control group. The t-test results indicate a significant difference in learning interest (t = 5.358, p < 0.05) and learning outcomes (t = 5.194, p < 0.05) between the two groups. These findings suggest that the Kabulok Komad Quartet Card learning media is effective in creating an engaging, contextual, and student-centered learning environment. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides empirical evidence that integrating local cultural content through game-based learning media can enhance both affective and cognitive aspects of learning in elementary science education.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on fostering religious moderation attitudes among class XI students at MAN IC Bengkulu Tengah. Methodology: The research employs a quantitative approach with a sample of class XI students at MAN IC Bengkulu Tengah. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation to determine the relationship between PBL implementation and students' religious moderation attitudes. Observations, pretests, and posttests were conducted to support data reliability and validity. Main Findings: The results demonstrate that the PBL model significantly contributes to developing religious moderation attitudes, with a 92% improvement observed among the participants. Through active engagement in problem-solving, students enhanced their critical thinking and analytical skills, enabling them to apply balanced and moderate perspectives in religious and social contexts. The study highlights that integrating real-world issues into Akidah Akhlak lessons through PBL effectively encourages students to embrace diversity and avoid radical tendencies. Novelty/Originality of the Study: This research pioneers the application of PBL in Islamic education, particularly in fostering religious moderation, a critical value in pluralistic societies. It addresses a significant gap in the literature by offering evidence-based insights into the role of innovative pedagogical models in shaping attitudes aligned with inclusivity and tolerance. The study also underscores the potential of PBL to modernize Islamic education by bridging theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications, thereby advancing students' holistic character development.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Assessment of students' critical thinking skills and environmental care attitudes is crucial for science learning. This research aims to develop an essay test instrument for critical thinking and a questionnaire for environmental care attitudes, evaluating their validity through expert assessments and trials. Methodology: Utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) model by Oriondo & Dallo-Antoio (1998), the study comprises three stages: test planning, trials, and validation. A random sampling technique was employed, involving 267 students. The critical thinking instrument consists of essay questions, while the environmental care attitudes are measured using a prosocial intentions questionnaire. Main Findings: Validity results indicate a high Aiken index of 0.96 for critical thinking essays and 1.0 for the environmental care questionnaire. Reliability estimates were 0.73 for critical thinking and 0.71 for environmental attitudes, both good. The difficulty level for the critical thinking instrument was classified as medium (0.68), while the environmental care instrument was deemed difficult (1.65). Limitations include focusing solely on science subjects, trials restricted to one area, and reliance on self-reports for environmental attitudes, which may introduce bias. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in integrating critical thinking assessment with environmental care attitudes, a rare approach in previous research. In conclusion, the developed instruments effectively measure students' critical thinking skills and environmental care attitudes in science education, particularly regarding global warming.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study investigates the initial needs of teachers for the development of interactive multimedia based on Augmented Reality (AR) for physics education, specifically in the context of kinetic gas theory. As part of development research at the preliminary study stage, the goal is to design innovative teaching tools that simplify complex physics concepts and enhance student engagement. Methodology: A survey-based research design was adopted, with data collected via questionnaires distributed to middle and high school physics teachers using the Google Form platform. The study examined teacher perspectives on AR-based learning media's necessity, usability, and potential impact in their classrooms. Main Findings: The results revealed a strong demand among physics teachers for AR-based interactive multimedia, highlighting its potential to address the challenges of teaching physics concepts often perceived as abstract and complex by students. Teachers emphasized the need for tools that make the learning process more engaging, interactive, and relatable. The findings also indicated that AR-based multimedia offers a promising solution, aligning with the growing integration of digital technology in education. Teachers noted that AR tools could increase efficiency, foster active learning, and cater to diverse learning styles, making physics more accessible and enjoyable. Novelty/Originality of the Study: This study contributes to the growing field of digital education by emphasizing the application of AR technology in physics learning. It provides a novel perspective on how AR can bridge the gap between theoretical physics and practical understanding, fostering curiosity and deeper comprehension.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study evaluates the implementation of school financial management within the free school program at Senior High School 3 Palembang using the Stake evaluation model to assess effectiveness, transparency, and accountability in fund management. As education funding is crucial in ensuring equal learning opportunities, examining how financial resources are managed within tuition-free programs is essential for sustainable policy implementation. Despite regulatory guidelines, financial management in free school programs often encounters obstacles in coordination, supervision, and transparency. Methodology: This research adopts a qualitative case study approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis to gather in-depth insights. The Stake model framework evaluates the program through four dimensions: context, input, process, and product. Main Findings: Findings reveal that while financial management at Senior High School Palembang adheres to procedural standards, significant challenges persist in supervision mechanisms and budget reporting. Inefficiencies in fund allocation and monitoring impact the program’s effectiveness, highlighting the need for improved financial literacy among administrators and enhanced accountability measures. Novelty/Originality of the Study: The novelty of this study lies in its application of the Stake model to assess financial governance in free school programs, a relatively unexplored area in education management research. By providing a localized evaluation, this study enriches existing literature and offers practical recommendations for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders. Strengthening financial transparency and accountability is crucial to ensuring that free education programs fulfill their intended objectives, fostering equitable access to quality education while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
