Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study investigates the extent of teachers’ instructional strategies, the level of students’ academic (skill) achievement, and the relationship between the two among children with special needs in special schools across North Sulawesi. Methodology: Employing a quantitative, descriptive-correlational research design, the study was conducted during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. A total of 95 teacher respondents from 12 special education schools were selected through total population sampling. Data were collected using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, and the results were analyzed using correlation analysis to determine the strength and significance of the relationship between instructional strategies and student achievement. Main Findings: Findings reveal that teachers demonstrate a consistently high level of instructional strategies. Specifically, the mean scores were as follows: understanding of students’ characteristics (M = 4.50), fulfilling roles as educators, instructors, mentors, and content deliverers (M = 4.57), and efforts in fostering creativity (M = 4.63). In terms of student academic (skill) achievement, the mean score was 4.46, suggesting a high level of learning outcomes among students with special needs. Most notably, the study found a statistically significant and strong correlation between teachers’ instructional strategies and students’ academic achievement, indicating that effective pedagogical approaches directly influence skill development in special education contexts. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the nuanced relationship between instructional strategies and skill-based achievement within the under-researched demographic of special needs learners in Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to map and analyze publication trends related to Social Studies (IPS) learning models at the elementary school level using bibliometric data from the Scopus database covering the period 2014–2024. Methodology: This study employs a qualitative bibliometric method with four stages: Identification, Screening, Eligibility, and Inclusion. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database using the keywords TITLE-ABS-KEY(“social sciences”) AND TITLE-ABS-KEY(“learning model”) AND TITLE-ABS-KEY(“primary school”). Analysis tools used include Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer version 1.6.19. Main Findings: Publication trends fluctuate over the years with an increase in 2024. Scientific articles are the dominant document type (73.3%), and social sciences are the most frequently studied field (53.6%). Spain ranks first in publication and citation counts. Keyword co-occurrence analysis reveals “curriculum,” “education,” and “social sciences” as the most connected terms. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides the first bibliometric mapping of a global study on social studies learning models at the elementary level using Scopus data. This study advances new insights on understanding through publication trend patterns by identifying so as to support future policymaking, curriculum planning, and research direction in primary education. This study is used to recommend the development of social studies learning models that are relevant to 21st-century needs, such as the integration of digital literacy, collaboration, and project-based learning.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid pace of digitalization among elementary school children, particularly through social media such as TikTok, has raised concerns about the erosion of religious values instilled in madrasah environments. The emergence of the TikTok syndrome—characterized by dependence on short digital content—has the potential to shift children's focus away from religious practices and spiritual character development. Methodology: The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method. The research subjects were 60 fifth-grade students at an elementary madrasah located in Sumenep Regency, selected through random sampling. The instrument used was a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 25 statements, with two main variables: religious character and TikTok syndrome symptoms. Main Findings: The results of the study indicate that students generally have good religious character, as evidenced by their practice of praying five times a day, honesty, and respect for teachers and parents. However, the level of TikTok consumption is quite high, with some students showing signs of disruption, such as forgetting to study and delaying prayers. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is among the first to empirically examine the intersection between TikTok usage and religious character formation in early-grade Islamic education. It introduces the concept of "TikTok syndrome" in the context of spiritual development among children—a construct that remains underexplored in existing literature. Theoretically, this study contributes to the growing scholarship on media-socialization and religious identity construction in digital contexts.

Abstract

Purpose of the study:This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of TANDUR-based Quantum Teaching in improving student learning outcomes in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) at the elementary school level. Methodology:This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The instruments used include a written test, learning motivation questionnaire, and performance observation sheet. The sample consisted of 42 fifth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Main Findings:Students taught using the Quantum Teaching model scored higher in cognitive (78.12), affective (3.29), and psychomotor (80.10) domains than those in the control group. Statistical analysis showed significant differences (p < 0.05), with a dominant increase in learning motivation and social skills. Novelty/Originality of this study:This study presents the comprehensive application of TANDUR-based Quantum Teaching in citizenship education to foster character development through cultural diversity. It contributes a holistic, engaging, and contextual learning model aligned with the principles of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to examine the transformation of teachers' roles in facing the challenges of implementing the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools and understand how teachers adapt to these educational changes. Methodology: This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with exploratory case study design. Data collection methods include direct classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving teachers actively implementing the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools. Main Findings: Teachers face significant obstacles in understanding learning outcomes, implementing project-based learning, and utilizing learning technology optimally. Despite available training programs, teacher participation remains sporadic with limited impact on practice changes. Teachers respond through self-training strategies, informal collaboration, and pedagogical reflection, though lacking institutional mentoring support. Role transformation occurs contextually and gradually, depending on individual initiative and school environment support. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research contributes by uncovering teacher role dynamics in marginalized schools previously underexplored in Independent Curriculum studies, providing insights for developing contextual, collaborative, and sustainable teacher capacity building policies.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: In the context of the digital era, the transmission of moral values faces increasing challenges due to the dominance of globalized, visual, and fast-paced content. This study aims to explore how Gendang Bugis a traditional Bugis musical performance, functions as a medium of moral pedagogy when represented and recontextualized on digital platforms Methodology: This research adopts an exploratory qualitative approach, employing digital ethnographic techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and content analysis of Gendang Bugis representations on social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Survey instruments: semi-structured interview guide and observation checklist. Main Findings: The main results indicate that digital performances of Gendang Bugis effectively transmit core moral values such as discipline, respect, solidarity, and cooperation. Senior performers act as moral role models, while youth audiences engage through affective and interactive virtual platforms. This online interaction fosters deeper value internalization. Moreover, digital platforms broaden access, promote intergenerational moral dialogue, and reinforce the pedagogical strength of traditional arts, even amid concerns over cultural authenticity and shifting modes of transmission in modern contexts Novelty/Originality of this study: This study presents a novel evaluative framework that integrates traditional performance pedagogy with digital ethnography. The results highlight the active role of digitalized traditional arts in moral education. It emphasizes the urgency of developing culturally grounded, digitally adaptive educational content and encourages the integration of traditional arts into both formal and informal education systems in a relevant and contextual manner.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) analyzes research trends in Educational Tourism (2019–2024) by applying Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) framework. The study specifically investigates how the Educational Tourism approach supports the principles of Sustainable Tourism and its positioning in addressing the complex issue of Climate Change. Methodology: The research employed an SLR supported by bibliometric analysis and thematic synthesis of 447 Scopus-indexed articles. The ELT framework (comprising Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation) was used as a conceptual lens to test the balance of thematic focus across the literature. Main Findings: The analysis revealed a systemic imbalance within the literature. While the Abstract Conceptualization and Concrete Experience stages show strong documentation, the Reflective Observation is the most minimally discussed theme (65.55%). This gap indicates that current research tends to bypass the critical evaluation process, thus failing to methodologically validate the internal mechanism required to link direct experience to lasting sustainable behavior. This methodological weakness hinders the sector's ability to effectively tackle complex, large-scale issues like Climate Change and Environmental Protection. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes by being the first to systematically apply the ELT framework to diagnose the thematic maturity of Educational Tourism, explicitly identifying Reflective Observation as the most critical theoretical and methodological gap.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to provide insights into how edugames can assess children’s cognitive abilities across various intelligence domains such as logical-mathematical, spatial, linguistic, interpersonal, and bodily-kinesthetic. Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative research design with a case study approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with educators and edugame developers, classroom observations of students using the games, and document analysis. The study focused on a specific early childhood school institution where edugames were integrated into the curriculum. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key patterns and insights from the data. Main Findings: The findings reveal that edugames are effective in assessing a wide range of intelligences, engaging children in tasks that reflect different cognitive and social abilities. The games were particularly effective in evaluating logical-mathematical, spatial, linguistic, interpersonal, and bodily-kinesthetic intelligences. Educators reported that edugames allowed them to assess diverse abilities often overlooked by traditional assessment methods. However, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and the need for adaptive features in games were identified. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research contributes to the emerging field of digital tools in early childhood education by presenting edugames as effective methods for assessing multiple intelligences. The implications for educational practice suggest that incorporating edugames into early childhood curricula can provide a more inclusive, dynamic, and accurate assessment of children's cognitive and social skills. Future research should focus on overcoming the identified challenges, such as the need for adaptive game features and better technological infrastructure.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The This study aims to explore Indonesian Muslim women's understanding of sexual and reproductive health education in an Islamic perspective. The study also seeks to identify the factors that cause low levels of knowledge and formulate recommendations to improve sexual and reproductive literacy based on Islamic values. Methodology: This study used a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method of four groups of Muslim women of various age ranges. The data is analyzed through interactive analysis techniques that include three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. Main Findings: The results showed that as many as 92.6% of participants had a low understanding of sexual and reproductive health education from an Islamic perspective. The main obstacles include the existence of social and cultural stigma on this issue, the assumption that sexual education is only the responsibility of religious leaders, the lack of education from an early age, and the lack of repetition programs from formal educational institutions. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study emphasizes the importance of a collaborative approach in Islamic-based sexuality education, by synergistically involving parents, educators, religious leaders, and the government. The uniqueness of this research lies in its approach that combines religious values and social-educational strategies to create a comprehensive and non-fragmented learning system.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis of various studies discussing the implementation of the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) in differentiated learning based on the lesson study approach across different educational levels. Methodology: The study employs a quantitative meta-analysis method by analyzing 88 articles published between 2020 and 2025, retrieved from several academic databases such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, PubMed, WorldCat, Dimensions, and Portal Garuda. Main Findings: The findings show a very high overall effect size (ES = 1.086; SE = 0.157). Specifically, elementary (ES = 1.049) and senior high schools (ES = 0.826) show high effects, while junior high schools demonstrate the strongest and most consistent impact (ES = 1.475). Novelty/Originality of this study: This study’s novelty lies in integrating differentiated learning with the lesson study approach under the Independent Curriculum, offering empirical evidence of its strong positive effect on learning quality across educational levels and highlighting its potential as an innovative model for improving teaching effectiveness in Indonesian schools.
