Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to critically analyze and validate the applicability of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model within the framework of Islamic education. Specifically, it seeks to test, verify, and deepen theoretical understanding of the CIPP model by examining its relevance, strengths, and limitations when applied to a religiosity-based educational context. Methodology: Using a qualitative descriptive-evaluative design, data were collected through observations and semi-structured interviews with 15 participants the Director of KMI, 3 supervisors, 6 teachers, and 5 students selected via purposive sampling. Data were analyzed thematically based on the four CIPP components. Main Findings: The religiosity-based curriculum fundamentally contrasts with the liberal-humanistic paradigm, which places humans as the ultimate center and measure of all things while neglecting spiritual and divine values. From the perspective of Islamic education, such a humanistic-liberal model is inherently incompatible, as it disregards the transcendental relationship between humans and their Creator. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study presents a novel contribution by revealing that the conventional application of the CIPP evaluation model, though comprehensive in managerial and procedural aspects, remains insufficient to address the complex realities of educational practice particularly within the realm of Islamic education. The model’s limitation lies in its inability to capture the spiritual (ilahiyah) dimensions that are essential to a religiosity-based curriculum. To overcome this gap, the study proposes an integrative framework termed MHI, which stands for Management, Humanitarian, and Ilahiyah components.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The study aims to comprehensively map the ability of BIPA students from Timor-Leste in writing biographical texts, while identifying their strengths and weaknesses in several key aspects: clarity of content, writing structure, creativity and language style, adherence to theme, and spelling and grammar accuracy. Methodology: Data were collected through a biographical writing task, which was assessed using a specially designed rubric. A mixed-method approach was applied: quantitative analysis was used to examine the distribution of ability levels across categories, while qualitative analysis explored detailed patterns of strengths and weaknesses for each aspect. Main Findings: The findings show that most students achieved a medium level for clarity of content (57.5%) and writing structure (60%). However, creativity (65% low) and spelling and grammar (52.5% low) emerged as the main challenges. Specific difficulties were identified in the formation of derived words, the use of temporal conjunctions, and the construction of complex sentences. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study places biographical writing as an instrument for diagnosing the writing skills of BIPA students in the sociolinguistic context of Timor-Leste, a domain that is rarely explored. This approach allows for a more detailed mapping of students’ strengths and weaknesses rather than just measuring final scores for pedagogical intervention. The implications suggest that BIPA teachers should prioritize fostering grammatical cohesion, enhancing creativity, and refining the reorientation section of biographical texts. The implementation of a scaffolding model progressing from guided examples to independent production is recommended to systematically develop students’ writing competence.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to evaluate the factors influencing student acceptance and satisfaction with SIPDA, a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS), among accounting majors at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan. Methodology: A quantitative research design was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS. The study involved 213 accounting students from both regular and non-education programs, selected through a total sampling approach. Data were collected using structured questionnaires that measured five core constructs: instructor quality, content quality, perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and self-regulation. The collected data were analyzed using SEM-PLS to test the hypothesized relationships and assess model validity and reliability. Main Findings: Of the seven hypotheses tested, six were found to be positive and statistically significant. Instructor and content quality had strong positive effects on perceived usefulness and satisfaction, while perceived usefulness significantly enhanced satisfaction. However, self-regulation showed an adverse indirect effect on satisfaction through perceived usefulness (β = -0.061), indicating that highly self-regulated students are more critical when the LMS fails to meet their expectations. The model demonstrated high predictive validity (R² = 0.790) and fulfilled all reliability and construct validity criteria. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study reveals a counterintuitive relationship between self-regulation and satisfaction. While self-regulation typically fosters positive outcomes, students with greater autonomy and digital literacy are dissatisfied when LMS responsiveness and personalization are lacking. The findings emphasize the need for adaptive, learner-centered LMS designs tailored to self-regulated learners in higher education.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to evaluate the role of digital literacy and training in shaping teachers' self-efficacy and in contributing to the development of digital competencies among high school teachers. Methodology: A quantitative research design was used, employing a correlational survey. Data were collected from 100 high school teachers in East Java through an online questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis was performed using SmartPLS 4.0 software to evaluate measurement validity, structural paths, and mediation effects. Main Findings: Digital literacy, training, and self-efficacy have a significant, positive influence on teachers' digital competence. Both digital literacy and training also significantly influence teachers' self-efficacy, although the influence is relatively small. In addition, self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between digital literacy and training in digital competence, underscoring its strategic role in improving teachers' ability to integrate technology into education. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a new perspective by identifying self-efficacy as a psychological bridge between external support (training) and internal competency development. It enriches current knowledge by integrating personal belief systems into the digital competency framework and provides practical implications for designing more effective teacher professional development programs.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Improving the quality of research proposals is a challenge in Biology education at the tertiary level. Integrating project-based learning with artificial intelligence (AI) support offers an innovative approach to strengthening students’ proposal writing skills. This study aimed to determine the effect of AI-assisted project-based learning on the ability to write research proposals of Biology Education students. Methodology: This study used a pretest-posttest quasi-experiment design with a control group. Two classes of Biology Education students were purposively selected. The experimental class applied AI-assisted project learning, while the control class used conventional methods. Data were collected through the assessment of the research proposal rubric and analyzed by t-test to assess the difference between the scores of the control class and experimental classes’ scores. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using SPSS. Main Findings: The research finding show that the average score of the experimental class proposal writing ability of 86.2 is greater than that of the control class proposal writing ability of 78.7. The results also show that the Sig. 0.0001 is smaller than 0.05, meaning that AI-assisted project-based learning affects the ability to write research proposals. This finding indicates that AI effectively supports students in designing and writing better research proposals. Novelty/Originality of this study: Research on the use of AI in project learning to improve research proposal writing skills is still limited. This study contribute that AI effectively supports students in designing and writing better research proposals.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to meticulously explore the moderating effect of financial literacy on the influence of neurotransmitters on investment bias. As a pioneering effort in behavioral finance, this research highlights cognitive and psychological aspects of investors, focusing specifically on female investors, and represents the first study to integrate financial literacy as a moderating variable in the context of neurotransmitter effects. Methodology: A quantitative approach was employed, targeting female stock investors in Indonesia. Purposive sampling was used alongside a semantic differential scale. Data were collected through the distribution of closed-ended questionnaires, preceded by instrument testing and a pre-survey. A total of 581 respondents participated, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Main Findings: The main findings reveal that financial literacy negatively affects investment bias, indicating that greater financial knowledge tends to reduce behavioral bias. However, even financially literate individuals may still exhibit bias. Furthermore, neurotransmitter activity shows a significant positive effect on investment bias, suggesting that biological factors amplify biased decision-making. Importantly, financial literacy significantly moderates this relationship in a negative direction, meaning that higher levels of financial understanding weaken the influence of neurotransmitters on investment bias. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research contributes novel insights to the development of behavioral finance theory by introducing financial literacy as a moderating factor in the biological–psychological pathway influencing investment behavior. The practical implications highlight the critical role of financial education in reducing behavioral biases in investment decision-making, especially among female investors.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid advancement of digital technology demands strong digital competence, particularly among civil servants in educational institutions. This study aims to examine the influence of digital competence on civil servants’ performance, investigating both direct effects and indirect pathways through employee engagement and interpersonal communication. Methodology: A quantitative survey method was employed involving 150 civil servants working in public educational institutions in Riau, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Main Findings: The results indicate that digital competence has a significant positive impact on performance, both directly and indirectly. Employee engagement and interpersonal communication serve as effective mediators that enhance the relationship between digital competence and performance. The findings suggest that civil servants who possess strong digital skills, coupled with high engagement and effective interpersonal communication, demonstrate better job performance. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a novel contribution by integrating psychological (employee engagement) and relational (interpersonal communication) dimensions as mediators in the relationship between digital competence and performance. While previous studies have focused mainly on technological aspects, this research highlights the importance of human and social factors in driving performance in digitally transforming institutions. The implication of these findings points to the need for a more holistic approach to digital transformation policies in the public sector, where capacity building should not only address technical skills but also foster engagement and communication abilities among employees.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to describe the implementation of authentic assessment of literacy and numeracy based on local wisdom in elementary schools in Ternate City. Methodology: A mixed methods approach was employed involving both qualitative and quantitative data collection. The participants were 200 fifth-grade students from four schools Elementary School 1, Elementary School 2, Islamic Elementary School Nurul Hasan, and Islamic Elementary School Fathul Munir selected proportionally. Data were gathered through classroom observations, documentation, and authentic tasks integrated with local cultural contexts. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while descriptive statistics were used for quantitative analysis. Main Findings: The findings reveal that authentic assessment based on local wisdom in Ternate has not yet been systematically implemented in literacy and numeracy learning. However, several innovative teacher practices emerged, such as using the Ternate language for numeracy tasks, conducting literacy activities through interviews with market vendors, and applying mathematical concepts in real-life contexts like market transactions. These practices effectively connected students’ cultural experiences with learning objectives, enhancing engagement and conceptual understanding. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in integrating Ternate’s local wisdom as a contextual foundation for authentic literacy and numeracy assessment, bridging the gap between assessment theory and culturally grounded educational practice. The study contributes to the development of context-sensitive assessment instruments that promote equity, relevance, and cultural identity in education. Furthermore, it provides empirical evidence supporting culturally responsive pedagogy as a strategy for improving learning outcomes in diverse local contexts.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study examines the effectiveness of the Happy Holiday program in enhancing elementary students’ speaking skills through engaging, value-based learning activities grounded in Islamic teachings. Speaking ability is a fundamental component of children’s communicative competence, yet many students in Magelang City continue to experience difficulties in expressing ideas confidently in public settings. Methodology: Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research involved 193 students from grades III–V across several schools, with data collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with students and parents, and documentation of learning activities. Thematic analysis revealed that the program successfully created an enjoyable, interactive, and low-pressure environment that improved students’ fluency, vocabulary mastery, clarity of expression, and willingness to speak. Main Findings: Activities such as storytelling about the Prophet’s companions, collaborative discussions, and Islamic-themed educational games not only enhanced students’ linguistic performance but also strengthened moral values such as honesty, responsibility, respect, and self-confidence. Integrating ethical character formation into speaking practice proved effective in fostering polite and meaningful communication. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in its development of a culturally rooted pedagogical model that merges non-formal learning, Islamic character education, and oral language development an approach rarely explored in Indonesian elementary education research. By demonstrating that holiday-based programs can reduce gadget dependency while enriching both communication skills and moral awareness, this study offers an innovative framework for alternative language learning initiatives that are contextually relevant, enjoyable, and character-oriented.
