Abstract

This study investigates the collaboration between teachers and parents in instilling religious responsibility in students at An-Nizam Private Junior High School in Medan. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive field study design, involving participant observation and in-depth interviews with teachers and parents. The results show that effective cooperation between teachers and parents significantly enhances students' commitment to religious practices, such as performing Dhuha prayer, congregational Zuhur prayer, and Quran memorization. The study highlights that a strong partnership, facilitated by regular communication and shared responsibilities, is essential for fostering students' religious discipline. This collaboration also strengthens character development, contributing to both academic and spiritual growth. These findings emphasize the need for schools and parents to work together in nurturing students' religious responsibility.

Abstract

In the digital era, Civic Education must evolve to address students’ online behaviors, responsibilities, and participation as digital citizens. However, many high school educators in Indonesia lack the guidance, confidence, and institutional support to meaningfully integrate digital citizenship into their teaching. This study aims to explore the challenges and needs experienced by Civic Education teachers and experts, and to develop a practical school-based framework for implementing digital citizenship in senior high schools in Banda Aceh. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven Civic Education teachers and three national education experts. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns across participant narratives. The findings reveal major challenges, including uncertainty in curriculum integration, low teacher digital literacy, and limited stakeholder collaboration. Teachers expressed a need for structured training, contextualized teaching templates, and stronger institutional support. Based on these insights, the study proposes a three-phase implementation framework: (1) planning and stakeholder engagement, (2) curriculum-based integration using active learning, and (3) continuous evaluation and reflection. The study concludes that successful integration of digital citizenship requires systemic collaboration, professional development, and adaptive policy reforms. These findings contribute theoretically by advancing context-sensitive models of digital civic education grounded in empirical teacher perspectives, and practically by offering an actionable framework to guide schools, policymakers, and curriculum developers in fostering responsible and participatory digital citizens within the Indonesian education system.

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of fifteen tenth-grade students from a secondary school in Medan, Indonesia, using the Quizizz platform to improve their English writing skills and enhance their writing motivation. A phenomenological qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicated that Quizizz had a positive impact on students' motivation, self-confidence, and learning autonomy. The platform’s gamification features and instant feedback encouraged students to write more actively, take risks, and independently correct mistakes. However, the effectiveness of Quizizz was found to depend largely on the teacher-designed tasks and the technical conditions supporting the platform. This study suggests integrating Quizizz into well-designed, sustainable, technology-based writing lessons to foster improved writing skills and sustained motivation among students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the leadership strategies of regional heads during the transition period in optimizing development programs in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research focuses on how the Acting Regent designs, implements, and optimizes strategies through special programs during the transition period. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, and data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, literature review, and documentation. The results indicate that regional heads play a strategic role in initiating the Bubur Pedas (Bupati Collaborates to Pursue Regional Development Until Completed) program, a form of adaptive, collaborative, and innovative leadership. This program is able to build synergy between stakeholders and the community. However, obstacles such as limited fiscal resources, short terms in office, and negative public stereotypes pose challenges. This study confirms that the success of optimizing development programs is greatly influenced by the capacity and leadership style of regional heads during the transition period.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the legal considerations by the judges of the Panyabungan Religious Court in assessing and deciding cases of polygamy permits submitted based on diabetes reasons. This study uses a research method with a type of library research with a descriptive analytical sesearch nature, and the approach is carried out with a case approach, and uses the decision of the Panyabungan Religious Court judge, especially in the decision of case Number: 465/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Pyb. The sources of legal materials use Primary Legal materials, namely Law No. 1 of 1974 concerning marriage and Secondary Legal materials, namely Legal books including theses, dissertations and articles in Legal journals. The results of this study are that the judge granted the application for permission for polygamy on the grounds of worship and the wife having ahistory of diabetes resulting in less than optimal service to the applicant. So it can be concluded that the reason for diabetes in the perspective of the compilation of IslamicLaw could be valid, but whwn viewed from the perspective of the theory of justice, the court must treating a sick wife has the same right to be protected without reducing her value because of ilness. Then it is expected to provide the gratest benefit to the less fortunate and perhaps more relevantly should be tested whether the reason maintains the wife’s rights, provides benefitsto the wife, for example getting better care or economic security.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of zakat collection by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of North Sumatra Province, which is carried out based on voluntary principles from the perspective of maqashid sharia. This study uses a qualitative approach with a normative-empirical research type based on secondary data. Data were collected through a documentary study of official BAZNAS reports, local government publications, and scientific articles from nationally accredited journals. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and qualitatively with a thematic and normative approach, then examined within the framework of sharia objectives (maqashid sharia). The results show that although BAZNAS has implemented various strategies such as service digitization, zakat campaigns, and the involvement of religious leaders, the effectiveness of zakat collection is still low compared to the existing potential. The main factors affecting effectiveness include low public zakat literacy, weak trust in zakat institutions, limited institutional capacity, and minimal regulatory support at the regional level. In the perspective of maqashid sharia, the voluntary principle will have beneficial value if managed through a strong, professional system and impact on the empowerment of mustahik. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen regional regulations, increase public literacy, and create institutional synergy so that zakat can become an effective and sustainable instrument of distributive justice.

Abstract

North Sumatra is a province with high ethnic and cultural diversity, making it a dynamic yet challenging social space. Medan City, as the provincial capital, is a hub for interaction among Batak, Malay, and Chinese communities. This study examines the dynamics of these interethnic relations in the context of history, urbanization, and contemporary multiculturalism. Using a qualitative approach with historical and sociocultural methods, data were collected through literature review, in-depth interviews with community leaders and academics, and participatory observation. The findings reveal that interethnic relations in Medan are shaped by colonial legacies, social inequality, prejudice, and limited intercultural dialogue. Although cultural initiatives such as festivals foster symbolic interaction, they have not resolved structural issues of segregation. Strengthening social integration requires inclusive public policies, intercultural education, and urban planning that promotes equal encounters. This study contributes to understanding multicultural dynamics in urban Indonesia and offers insights for fostering social harmony in diverse societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of trends, lifestyles, and community consumerism on coffee production in Medan City and examine the urgency of halal certification in this context. Using a quantitative approach with phenomenological properties, this study involves collecting data through questionnaires distributed to consumers and coffee business actors in Medan City. The analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between variables using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results of this study show that trends, lifestyle, and consumerism significantly affect coffee purchase decisions in Medan City. Trends contributed 13.47%, lifestyle 9.49%, and consumerism 7.89%, with a total simultaneous contribution of 18.1%. Coffee consumption now reflects social identity, self-existence, and visual cultural pressures, not just functional needs. In the review of sharia economics, this pattern shows a tendency of excessive consumption (israf) and symbolism that is contrary to the principles of halal-thayyib, tawazun (balance), and wasathiyah (moderation). Therefore, consumption needs to be directed towards spiritual awareness, blessings, and ethical values.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the accuracy of production cost calculations, which serve as the foundation for determining an appropriate cost of sales. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through direct observation and interviews. The data includes production details, raw material costs, labor costs, and factory overhead costs over a specified period. The study highlights the potential impact of pricing strategies on consumer behavior: a selling price that is too high compared to competitors may lead consumers to opt for cheaper alternatives, while an excessively low price risks underpricing. The findings revealed significant discrepancies in production cost calculations. The company's simplified method resulted in lower costs compared to both the variable costing and full costing methods. The difference between the company's method and full costing suggests the potential for underpricing, as it neglects certain cost components, particularly fixed overhead costs. In contrast, the full costing method offers a more comprehensive and accurate cost analysis, which is crucial for determining sustainable and competitive selling prices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the intensity and pattern of social media use on the formation of a culture of alone together among young users. The phenomenon of alone together refers to a condition in which individuals are physically present with others, but are psychologically separated due to the focus on digital devices, especially social media. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 96 respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of the F test showed that all independent variables simultaneously had a significant effect on the culture alone together (Sig. F = 0.000 < 0.05). The t-test showed that several variables had a partial significant influence, namely X1 (frequency of social media access every day), X5 (comfort in expressing oneself on social media), and X8 (habit of checking notifications while studying/studying). An R-Square value of 0.586 indicates that 58.6% of the variation in the culture alone together can be explained by the ten variables studied. These findings indicate that intense social media use may reinforce an individual's tendency to be isolated in social spaces even when physically with others. This study recommends the need for increased digital literacy and awareness of the importance of direct social interaction to maintain balance in modern social life.
