Abstract

This study explores the ethnomathematical elements in the architecture of the Kabanjahe Grand Mosque. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnographic lens, data was collected through observation, interviews, and visual documentation. The findings reveal that the mosque’s architecture incorporates geometric shapes, such as squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles, which reflect both mathematical and cultural significance. These elements demonstrate how mathematics can be integrated into local culture and used as a teaching resource. The research highlights the value of ethnomathematics in educational contexts, reinforcing the importance of incorporating cultural elements into mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study explores the mathematical concepts involved in tofu-making through an ethnomathematics approach, linking cultural practices with mathematics education. Using qualitative methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation, the research identifies seven stages in tofu production where mathematical concepts such as arithmetic, geometry, time comparison, and ratios are applied. Findings suggest that these concepts, which are relevant to school mathematics, can serve as a contextual learning resource. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating local culture into mathematics teaching, demonstrating that everyday activities like tofu-making offer valuable real-world applications for learning mathematical principles. This approach enhances students' understanding by connecting theory with practical, cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-reward content on consumptive behavior, with self-control as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 400 Generation Z respondents in Indonesia who actively use TikTok and have encountered self-reward-themed content. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, F-test, and path analysis to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results show that self-reward content has a significant positive effect on consumptive behavior (t = 52.939, p < 0.05) and also a significant positive effect on self-control (t = 6.373, p < 0.05). Meanwhile, self-control has a significant negative effect on consumptive behavior (t = -2.872, p < 0.05) and is proven to mediate the relationship between self-reward content and consumptive behavior based on the path analysis results (p = 0.009). These findings indicate that although self-reward content encourages consumptive behavior, strong self-control can mitigate its impact. This study offers new insights into the dynamics of digital consumptive behavior among Generation Z in today’s social media landscape.

Abstract

This study investigates the internal implementation of the hybrid contract in Murabahah bil Wakalah financing at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Pematangsiantar Perintis Branch, and evaluates its alignment with the DSN-MUI fatwa. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were obtained through in-depth interviews. The research reveals that the execution of the Murabahah bil Wakalah contract at BSI Pematangsiantar Perintis is not entirely in accordance with DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 04/DSN-MUI/IV/2000, as both the Murabahah and Wakalah agreements are conducted concurrently. Ideally, the Murabahah agreement should be concluded only after the bank legally possesses the goods via the Wakalah contract. While the simultaneous implementation simplifies the financing process, there is still a need for enhanced internal comprehension and continuous training to ensure full compliance with Islamic legal principles.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the leadership strategies of the madrasah principal in improving teacher performance through the implementation of academic supervision at MTs Negeri Binjai. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal a decline in teacher performance, characterized by poor punctuality, lack of instructional innovation, and insufficient attention to students' needs. The principal applied a humanistic and participative leadership strategy through a structured academic supervision process. These strategies included situational leadership styles, binding and bonding approaches, and collaborative reflection between teachers and leadership. Academic supervision served as a medium for teacher coaching and professional development through direct classroom observations, constructive feedback, and pedagogical dialogue. The results indicate that appropriate leadership strategies and continuous supervision can significantly enhance teachers’ competence and motivation. This study recommends strengthening participatory leadership practices and developing adaptive academic supervision systems as efforts to improve the quality of education in madrasahs.

Abstract

Food Estate is not a new term in Indonesia. Food Estate is a policy made by the government to maintain the stability and food security of the country during the food crisis that emerged when the Covid-19 Pandemic emerged. This paper aims to analyze the implementation pattern of the Food Estate policy in Riaria Village, Humbang Hasundutan Regency and its impact on the social, economic and political aspects of the local farming community. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, field observations and analysis of policy documents. The Food Estate policy is top-down and does not involve the participation of the community and local farmers. The government determines commodities such as shallots and potatoes that are not in accordance with local agricultural habits such as andaliman, frankincense, and coffee, which causes crop failure and economic losses. Labor restructuring, which disrupts gender roles and household food security, is an example of a social impact. Politically, this policy triggers agrarian conflicts and strengthens the power relations between the government, corporations, and farmers. The principles of food sovereignty and community participation are often ignored when the Food Estate is implemented in Ria-Ria Village. This policy increases farmers' dependence on corporations and endangers the local agricultural system. Strengthening farmer institutions, bottom-up approaches, and increasing transparency are some of the policy recommendations.

Abstract

This study discusses the application of contra legem in the custody (?adhanah) decision following a divorce involving a child who has not yet reached the age of discernment (non-mumayyiz), with a focus on Decision No. 361/Pdt.G/2018/PA.Dps. The research concentrates on three main aspects: the custody rights of non-mumayyiz children, the impact of divorce on caregiving responsibilities, and the legal conflict in the application of custody laws. The method used is normative juridical research, emphasizing the analysis of statutory regulations, legal literature, and relevant legal concepts. The data sources include primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The analysis is conducted qualitatively using juridical, sociological, and shar’i approaches. The findings indicate that Decision No. 361/Pdt.G/2018/PA.Dps is contra legem, deviating from the default legal provisions that assign ?adhanah to either the father or the mother. However, within the framework of Maq??id al-Shar??ah, custody was granted to the maternal grandmother based on legitimate shar’i grounds. Although the mother was deemed nasyuz (disobedient), and the father had a history of domestic violence, the court prioritized the child’s emotional welfare and stability. Therefore, placing the child with the maternal grandmother was considered the most appropriate choice to protect the child’s ma?la?ah (best interest) and fulfill the objectives of Islamic law (maq??id al-shar??ah). The decision aimed to safeguard the child’s life and intellect (?if? al-nafs and ?if? al-?aql). The ?illah qawiyyah (strong legal reasoning) in this case lies in the fact that both parents were deemed unfit, leading the judge to assign custody to the nearest capable relative — the maternal grandmother.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are non-formal educational institutions that are essential in shaping the character of students through discipline, which is vital for the effectiveness of learning. This study investigates the mediating role of santri discipline in controlling learning at An-Nur 2 Al-Murtadlo Islamic Boarding School in Malang. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a single case study, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with key informants and santri, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by reduction, presentation, and verification, supported by source triangulation. The results showed that santri discipline has a strategic role as a link in controlling learning. Discipline is formed from daily habituation, adherence to rules, and exemplary management. Systematic learning planning contributes to a disciplined environment. Control through supervision and coaching encourages orderly and responsible behavior. Strengthening discipline through educational rewards and punishments has proven effective. Thus, diniyah discipline is not only the result, but also the main driver for the achievement of effective and meaningful pesantren education goals.
