This study used quasi experimental design with pre-test and post-test design approach. The population of this study was 299 tenth grade students of MAN 1 Pontianak in academic year 2016/2017. By using simple random sampling, the researcher took two classes as the samples of this study. The samples were XMIPA 1 as the experimental class which was taught by using action movie trailer and XMIPA 2 as the control class which was taught without using action movie trailer. The experimental class consisted of 35 students and the control class consisted of 36 students. Pre-test was given before the implementation of the treatment and post-test was given after the treatment to both groups. The instrument used in this study was writing test in which the students were asked to write a narrative text. The results of this study showed that action movie trailer was effective and the criteria of the effect size was categorized strong. As the result, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Hence, it was concluded that action movie trailer is strongly effective in teaching writing of narrative text. Keywords: Action Movie Trailer, Writing, Narrative Text

To design the product, the researcher first analyzed the students and teacher condition and also their problems and needs toward English teaching and learning process. After that the researcher selected and collected the interesting materials then started to make a comic. Futhermore, the researcher asked two experts to validate the comic whether it was appropriate or not to support the teaching and learning process of narrative text reading by using an assessment rubric. The result shows that the product was classified as Very Good with the score of percentage 93%. It meant that the comic can be used to support teaching and learning narrative text reading. Keywords: Development Research, Comic, Narrative text, Reading.

AbstractThe development of learning modules is based on the low learning outcomes of learners and the limited teaching materials available in schools. The purpose of the development research is to produce the learning module development design, to describe the learning of Indonesian language by using learning module, and to know the result of learning speaking skill through the use of learning module. This research is development research with Borg and Gall stage: research and data collection, planning, product draft development, expert validation, revision of expert commentary, trial, revision of trial commentary result, and final product refinement. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and documentation. Data collection tools are observation sheet, interview guide, and questionnaire. Data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the study were: (1) research and information collecting, (2) planning stage, (3) development stage, (4) expert validation stage, (5) trial stage, (6) ) refinement of the final product. Learning Indonesian uses learning modules starting with preparation, introduction, core activities (exploration, elaboration, and confirmation), assessing the work of learners, evaluation, and closing. Learning outcomes of learners after the use of learning modules showed an increase, it is seen from the result of pretest 47.5 while the result of posttest 85.3. The increase can also be seen from the result of t test 2 paired samples showing t statistics > t table (36> 1.708), meaning there is difference of learning result using learning module.Key words: Learning modules, speaking skills, learning outcomes

Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this research were to determine  whether there is a difference in understanding the concept of students class taught by environmental-based practice method with taught convensional  student class on the reaction rate material and determine of the influence of the use of practice method based on the understanding of the concept of students on the reaction rate material. This form of research is a quasi experiment with the design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this research is class XI IPA which is divided into two groups, the first group as the experimental class and the second group as the control class. The worksheet were used are instruments and concept comprehension test. Based on the U Mann-Whitne testwith significance level α = 5% indicates that there is a difference between understanding the concept of students taught by environment-based practice method with those taught without using environment-based practicum methods. The value of effect size  is 1.06  with high category and gave the contribution 35,54%, it means the use of environment-based practice method influence the students' concept of understanding. The purpose of developing an interactive module to produce instructional media used independently by students. The development research procedure taken from Borg and Gall consists of 10 steps: data collection, planning, product development, expert validation, revision of expert comments, trials, revisions of comments, and final product improvements. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and documents. The research instruments are observation sheet, interview guide, and questionnaire. Data analysis using qualitative and quantitative. The result of the module has been constructed through research and development, has been tested able to improve students' speaking ability. This is evidenced by the increase. Improving students' speaking skills using interactive module shows improvement, this is seen from pretest result 68,63 while posttest result 77,22. The increase can also be seen from the 2 paired sample t test that shows the value of t arithmetic> t table (11,09> 1,708), it means there is improvement of student's speaking skill using interactive module. This module can be used for Indonesian language speaking aspectKeywords: interactive module, speaking skill, skill enhancement

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to describe  the influence of the use of a model Make a Match of the results of the learning civic eduacation  a student of class V SDN 09 West Pontianak. Research method used is experimental method with Quasi Eksperimental Design with Design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Population in this research is all students grade V B and V C academic year 2016 / 2017 which consisted of 68 people. Subjects of the sample were V B students consisting of 34 students (experiments) and 34 students (control) V C class. The research instrument is a matter of multiple choice test with 35 questions. Based on data analysis, the average of post test control class result is 60,06 and average result of post test of experiment class 70,24. Based on the T test obtained tarithmetic 3,6930 and ttable α = 5% equal to 1,998, which means tarithmetic (3,6930)> ttabel (1,998),  then alternative hypothesis be accepted.  Of reckoning as effect size (ES), obtained effect size  of 0,96 ( high criteria ) .
