The data were collected through deep interview, non participant observation, and document study. The data analysis was done through three phases namely data reduction, data validation, and data verification. The grand theory used as the basis for this research were theory of Yoseph Juran, Deming (1982), Crosby and Ishikawa, theory of organizational climate and culture by Gamage & Pang (2003), theory of total quality management by Sallis (2012), and also supported by theory of  developing visionary leadership by Hidayah N (2014), theory of school parenting in elementary school or school-based involvement (Hill & Taylor, 2004) and brain-based learning (i-Think) by Erick Jensen (2008). Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that quality culture management in Paon Temaga National School Malaysia started from developing School Parenting and i-Think as the leading program until they get the predicate of excellent cluster school at national rank. Abstract

AbstractStudents’ engagement impacts significantly to students’ achievement. When students are engaged in learning activity, it will be easy for them to understand the materials given by the teacher and they are able to focus on the lesson. Students’ engagemet will have a good effect to students’ self confidence, interest, and motivation. In teaching, the writer found that most of the students were not engaged in learning activity escpecially the students of IX E at MTsN 2 Pontianak that consists of thirty eight students, in  academic year 2017-2018. It could be seen from the students attitude toward the lesson. Most of the students exhibited low interest in learning. It was hard for them to focus on the teacher’s explanation. They also had low motivation and less attention. To overcome this problem, the writer chose one of the cooperative learning model namely Student Teams Achievement Division or STAD. STAD is made up of five major components: class presentation, teams, quizzes, individual improvement scores, and team recognition. This research aimed at enhancing students’ engagement in reading comprehension of procedure text. STAD can be used as an alternative method for teaching reading and it can make students more active in participating or interacting with their friends to answer the questions. In this research, the writer applied a classroom action research in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. The data have been collected by using the observation checklist, field notes, and questionnaire. After conducting the research, there was a significant improvement on students’ reading comprehension and especially on students’ engagement in teaching learning process. According to the writer, STAD can be used as one of the alternatives to enhance students’ engagement and students’ motivation as well. By learning in a group, the students are able to improve their self confidence, their self esteem and their competences. Keywords: CAR, Cooperative Learning, Reading Comprehension, STAD.

Abstract

AbstractThe general problem in this research is "Is there a correlation between emotional intelligence with learning outcomes in the Science lesson study class V 66 Pontianak City State Elementary School?". This research uses a descriptive method with a form of relationship study research. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of State Elementary School 66 Pontianak City. The sample in this research are 15 students grade VA and 15 students grade VB totaling 30 students drawn using probability sampling technique with simple random sampling type. Data collection tools and techniques used are indirect communication with a data collector in the form of a questionnaire and documentary study technique that is a data collector in the form of even semester report cards on Science subjects. The results showed emotional intelligence in Pontianak City 66 Elementary School was classified as good at 77.98%, and learning outcomes in subjects gained an average value of 76.97 is good because it goes in the 70-79 range. The values are then compared with r tablel at 5% for N = 30 is 0,316. Thus r count> from rtable or 0.413> 0.316, then Ha is accepted, which means that there is a correlation between emotional intelligence and learning outcomes in the Science lesson class V 66 Primary School Pontianak City. Keywords: Emotional intelligence , Learning Outcomes, Science.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the relationship between initial ability and the application of group work methods with student learning outcomes in learning citizenship education class III LKIA Pontianak Selatan Elementary School. The subjects of this study were third grade students of South Pontianak LKIA Elementary School in 2019/2020 school year. The object of this study is the initial ability, group work methods, and student learning outcomes. In this research the method chosen is descriptive method, with a form of interrelation study (interrelative study). This is because this study intends to describe the relationship of the independent variable or variable X, namely the initial ability and group work with the dependent variable or variable Y, namely learning outcomes. This study examined the population of all grade III students of South Pontianak LKIA Elementary School, which totaled 21 students. Data obtained through the students' initial abilities, the application of group work methods, and the student's final results. Data analysis techniques in this study used hypothesis testing (product moment correlation). The results showed that at an error rate of 5%, the magnitude of the correlation between initial ability, group work methods, and student learning outcomes (r count) was 0.974 with a rtable of 0.413. Because rcount> rtable it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between initial abilities, group work methods, and student learning outcomes. Keywords : Relationships, Initial Skills, Group Work Methods, Learning Outcomes, and Citizenship Education

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study describes the problem-solving behavior based on students’ level of mathematics self-efficacy in accomplishing problem-solving test equation. This study is using descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study is 28 students of IX G class in SMP Negeri 12 Pontianak who had obtained learning material to build flat side space. The result showed that in problem-solving test questions the behavior of subjects with high self-efficacy has a tendency to read repeatedly, record information, determine the strategy, according to the context of the problem, explain all the steps and give an answer reason. However, subject with low self-efficacy have a tendency to record information, according to the context of the problem, include results without read the questions repeatedly and do not specify strategies causing students difficult in explaining all steps and giving reasons for the answer. Keywords: Problem-Solving, Problem-Solving Behavior, Self-Efficacy
