Abstract

This study investigates the influence of leadership and the work environment on employee performance, with human resource development (HRD) serving as a mediating variable within a local government context. This research addresses the persistent issue of low employee productivity and limited professional growth in Indonesia's public sector, where leadership practices are predominantly transactional and developmental programs are underutilized. Employing a quantitative and explanatory approach, data were collected from civil servants at the Melayu Village Office, Tenggarong, East Kalimantan. The analysis utilized partial least squares structural equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that leadership has a significant positive effect on both HRD and employee performance, whereas work environment does not directly impact performance. Additionally, HRD mediates the relationship between leadership and employee performance but does not mediate the connection between the work environment and performance. These findings underscore HRD as a strategic mechanism by which leadership enhances employee outcomes. Theoretically, this study extends the human capital and transformational leadership frameworks to the public sector in developing countries. Practically, it emphasizes the importance of leadership-driven HRD programs in cultivating a competent, motivated, and high-performance workforce within local government institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of collaborative leadership and competence on employee performance, focusing on the mediating role of collaborative behavior among administrative civil servants at the Rectorate of Universitas Mulawarman, Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative explanatory design utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4. Data were gathered from 168 respondents using a validated questionnaire assessing leadership, competence, collaboration, and performance indicators. The findings indicate that both collaborative leadership and competence exert significant positive effects on collaborative behavior, which, in turn, significantly enhances employee performance. Although collaborative leadership does not directly affect performance, it indirectly affects it through collaborative behavior, suggesting a full mediation pattern. Competence has both direct and indirect effects on performance, affirming that technical, digital, interpersonal, analytical, and adaptive competencies improve performance outcomes when manifested in collaborative action. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding by refining social exchange theory and competency-based human resource management within a behavioral collaboration framework. It identifies collaborative behavior as a central mechanism linking managerial capability and professional competence to institutional performance. The results offer practical implications for higher education governance, highlighting the importance of participatory decision-making, transparent information systems, and integrated competency development programs that promote interunit collaboration and enhance service quality.

Abstract

Digital transformation has emerged as a significant catalyst for change within contemporary organizations, necessitating modifications to strategy, structure, processes, and work culture. This study explores the relationship between digital transformation and organizational development (OD) by emphasizing three critical dimensions: structural adaptation, process innovation, and organizational cultural readiness. Employing a systematic literature review methodology, this study analyzed 25 scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2025. Articles were selected from reputable databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight, and Taylor & Francis based on criteria including publication in indexed journals, a focus on digital transformation and organizational development, and the use of both empirical and conceptual approaches. The findings indicate that the success of digital transformation is contingent on the integration of organizational restructuring, renewal of work processes, and establishment of a technology-adaptive culture. Structural adaptation enhances organizational agility and effectiveness through decentralization and cross-functional collaborations. Process innovation bolsters efficiency and productivity through the digitalization of work systems and enhancement of human resource competencies. Organizational cultural readiness contributes to the sustainability of transformation through continuous learning, digital leadership and team collaboration. This study confirms that organizational development in the digital era no longer prioritizes administrative efficiency but focuses on cultivating adaptive and innovative capabilities that reinforce organizational resilience. Theoretically, this study proposes a Digital Organizational Development (DOD) framework that integrates these three key dimensions as a model for modern organizational development. Practically, the study's findings offer guidance for organizations to balance technology strategies with structural and cultural interventions to achieve effective and sustainable digital transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether the balance of company value measured by PBV is determined by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Current Ratio (CR), and Return on Assets (ROA) in the consumer goods industry sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Using a quantitative approach, data was collected from the financial statements of listed companies during the period 2021-2023. The results show that DER and CR are not determinants of PBV, meaning that the share price formed in the market as the equilibrium value of the company is not determined by the size of the capital structure and the company's ability to pay debts, but only by ROA or the company's ability to earn profits or the company's ability to use its assets to generate profits. The greater the company's ability to generate returns in the form of profits on the assets utilized by the company, the more investors view it as a good operation, thereby increasing investor interest in companies that demonstrate a high balance of firm value.

Abstract

This paper examines the dynamics of the church's decolonization of Batak culture in the context of the HKBP Parsaoran Dame congregation, as a theological effort to free itself from the hegemony of Western theology that historically shaped the colonial mission paradigm. To date, the church's mission has often operated within a dualistic framework that separates the Gospel from custom, faith from culture, and the sacred from the profane, thus creating epistemological tension between Christian faith and local cultural identity. Three theoretical frameworks are used: A. Afaradi's decolonial theology on epistemic liberation from Western domination; Homi K. Bhabha's concept of hybridity and third space, which explains the process of negotiating the meaning of faith in a cultural context; and Robert Sibarani's idea of Dalihan Na Tolu as a source of Batak ethics and spirituality. HKBP Parsaoran Dame is experiencing a mission paradigm shift toward an inclusive, dialogical, and collaborative approach. This process of integration between faith and culture produces a form of religious hybridity that affirms the rootedness of Christian faith in Batak values without losing its universal dimension. Theologically, mission decolonization is understood not merely as the replacement of Western symbols with local elements, but as an epistemic and spiritual liberation that places local culture as the locus theologicus of the space where God is presented and experienced through the language, symbols, and values of society. This research emphasizes that a decolonized church is a church that is culturally rooted yet remains universal in the love of Christ, and makes the values of marsiadapari (mutual cooperation) and marsilupahon (mutual support) the foundation of contextual, liberating, and transformative mission practice. This paper was developed with a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and participatory observation, this research combines contextual theology and decolonial theory as the basis for analysis.

Abstract

This study examines the main ideas of Martin Luther's Reformation, the development of the church movement, and its implications for Christian Religious Education (CRE). The Reformation, initiated by Luther in the 16th century, was not merely a reaction to the deviations of the Catholic Church, but a spiritual calling rooted in the experience of justification by faith (Romans 1:17). Luther opposed the church's abuse of indulgences and established key theological principles: Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria. These principles gave rise to major changes in theology, church life, and faith education. The Lutheran movement expanded through the Augsburg Confession of 1530, which became the foundation of the teachings and identity of Protestant churches. The core of Luther's teaching, the doctrine of justification by faith, frees people from the fear of God's wrath and directs the focus of faith solely on Christ. This study uses qualitative methods with a library study, examining Luther's works and secondary literature. The results show that Luther's thoughts have had a significant impact on CHE, namely, faith education centered on Scripture, emphasizing a personal relationship with Christ, and a pedagogical vision that upholds access to education for all. The practical implication is that Christian Religious Education is called to develop a faith that is critical, reflective, and faithful to the Word, enabling students to become witnesses of Christ in society. The main ideas of Luther's Reformation remain relevant for renewing church life and Christian education today.

Abstract

The research was conducted from February to April 2024 in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. Rainfall is a very important climatic factor in influencing crop growth and production, including oil palm. The purpose of this study was to examine how rainfall affects the planting area and production of oil palm in the highlands of North Sumatra. The study used secondary data in the form of information on planting area and production in Deli Serdang Regency during 2019-2023, obtained from the Deli Serdang Regency Agriculture Office and the Food Security and Horticulture Office, as well as the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The results showed that there was a negative correlation between rainfall and oil palm planting area and production, with values of -0.599 and -0.645, respectively. This means that there is a moderate negative relationship between rainfall and oil palm planting area and production, where higher rainfall results in lower oil palm planting area and production, although this is not statistically significant.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Environmental Management Accounting (EMA) in supporting corporate Environmental Performance (EP). With the increasing importance of environmental sustainability and pressure from stakeholders, companies are encouraged to integrate environmental accountability into their decision-making processes, particularly in addressing global issues such as the increase in electronic waste (e-waste). Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 20 research articles published between 2021 and 2025, the results of this study indicate that EMA has a significant positive impact on corporate environmental performance. EMA serves as a comprehensive information system that identifies, measures, and analyzes environmental costs (monetary) and physical data (such as waste and emissions). The implementation of EMA not only helps companies manage resources efficiently, reduce waste, and improve regulatory compliance, but also encourages Green Innovation, which acts as a key mediating pathway for improving environmental performance. The effectiveness of EMA is strengthened by several factors, namely top management support, institutional and regulatory pressure, and stakeholder integration. In addition, the influence of EMA on environmental performance is found to be stronger in developing countries compared to developed countries. Conceptually, the role of EMA is supported by Legitimacy Theory and Stakeholder Theory, as well as the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) perspective. Thus, this study confirms that EMA is an essential strategic sustainability tool in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12 and 13, namely Responsible Consumption and Production and Addressing Climate Change.

Abstract

The philosophy of education plays a fundamental role in shaping the direction of knowledge development, including science that is grounded in the values of local wisdom. Human beings possess the innate capacity to think and continuously strive to enhance their knowledge. Naturally endowed with curiosity, humans constantly seek answers to their questions through the pursuit of knowledge, which in turn brings intellectual satisfaction in accordance with the demands of the times. Knowledge is not only about understanding facts but also about seeking truth through proper scientific inquiry. Learning through well-founded scientific reasoning is one of the ways humans pursue truth. This study aims to examine the essence of the philosophy of education in the development of science based on local wisdom. The surrounding natural environment gives rise to unique forms of local wisdom that serve as potential foundations for scientific development. Science—encompassing physics, chemistry, and biology—relies on scientific methods, logical reasoning, and systematic frameworks. This is where the philosophy of science becomes essential in studying, revealing, and solving scientific problems in human life.Developing science based on local wisdom strengthens national identity, fosters ecological awareness, and cultivates learners who think scientifically while remaining rooted in their cultural heritage. This study discusses the importance of developing science based on local wisdom as a means of preserving natural resources, traditions, and cultural practices within society. Through a literature review approach, this paper explores the relevance between educational philosophy and the integration of local values in science education. The findings reveal that the philosophy of education plays a crucial role in framing the development of science that is not only oriented toward scientific rationality but also upholds moral, cultural, and spiritual values within society.
