Abstract

This study explores the relationship between the intensity of social media use and the emergence of spiritual fatigue among Muslim university students in the digital era. Using the Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory (Hobfoll, 1989) as the analytical framework, this study highlights how excessive digital engagement can deplete essential spiritual resources such as time for worship, self-reflection, and strengthening one’s connection with Allah. The findings reveal that uncontrolled social media use leads to inner distress and diminished spiritual well-being. Theoretically, this study extends the COR Theory to Islamic spirituality by showing that spiritual resources are as vulnerable to depletion as psychological ones. Practically, the research underscores the importance of self-regulation and muraqabah (spiritual awareness) in maintaining balance between online activities and devotion. Islamic higher education institutions are encouraged to promote digital literacy programs focused on spiritual resilience. This study contributes to the development of contemporary Islamic scholarship (Tsaqofah Islamiyah) and provides new insights into the dual role of social media—as both a source of spiritual reinforcement and depletion.

Abstract

The spread of Islamic teachings was carried out by the scholars in their own ways as the Wali Songo used cultural acculturation as an instrument for the acceptance of Islamic teachings by the community. However, the Puritan group disagrees with the moderate group who agrees with the method of cultural acculturation. This study examines the perspective of the Puritans and their attitudes towards cultural acculturation, especially in the Nyadran tradition. This study is a qualitative study that uses an approach through the library research method, namely through the process of collecting data from various literatures such as journals and other scientific papers, then processing the data from the collected data, the next process is data analysis and finally concluding the data as the core of the results of this study. The results of the study show that there is a rejection of the Puritans towards the Nyadran tradition with the argument that there are elements of bid'ah, shirk and also khurofat in the syncretism between culture and religion. In addition to rejection, the Puritans also synergize in voicing the purification of religion from the culture or traditions of society, this is their attitude in facing acculturation or syncretism between culture and religion in the midst of society.

Abstract

This study discusses the symbolic meaning of the hijab within the context of Islamic clothing in Indonesia, examining whether the hijab truly represents an individual's level of piety or is rather a product of social construction. The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature analysis and observation of social phenomena. Findings reveal that the hijab functions not only as a symbol of religious obedience but also as a part of social identity, lifestyle, and commodification within the modern fashion industry. The phenomenon of the mini hijab widely used in campuses and the influential role of social media demonstrate a negotiation of meanings between religious values and popular culture demands. From the perspective of Shafi'i fiqh, the mini hijab does not fulfill the sharia requirements as proper aurat covering, thus the interpretation of the hijab as a symbol of piety should also consider the inner sincerity and behavior consistent with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study discusses the classification of dakwah content on the TikTok application, which is popular among Indonesian youth. Considering the high number of TikTok users in Indonesia and the dominance of Generation Z as the main users, this research examines dakwah content based on themes, types, and the purpose of messarge delivery. The research method used is a literature study applying dakwah communication theory and new media theory to understand the changing patterns of digital dakwah. The results identify that dakwah content on TikTok includes materials on creed (akidah), Islamic jurisprudence (fiqih), and ethics (akhlak) presented in various formats such as short sermons, religious Q&A, inspirational stories, prayers, humor, and social issues. Digital dakwah on TikTok is interactive, creative, and effective in reaching a young audience, despite challenges such as short duration, virality, ethics, and message misinterpretation. Successful dakwah strategies involve the use of simple language, appealing visuals, active interaction, and the utilization of TikTok features and current trends. This study emphasizes the importance of digital literacy and communication ethics to maintain the quality of dakwah in the social media era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the shifting meaning of marriage in the phenomenon of early marriage in Indonesia from an Islamic perspective using Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical theory. In Islamic teaching, marriage is a sacred covenant intended to achieve tranquility (sakinah), love (mawaddah), and compassion (rahmah). However, in modern social reality, marriage—especially early marriage—often shifts from a spiritual act of worship to a symbolic performance used to gain social recognition and moral legitimacy. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a symbolic interactionism approach, using library research as the main technique for data collection. Data are obtained from scientific journals, books, and official reports related to Islamic law, sociology, and cultural studies. The findings reveal that early marriage functions as a “social performance,” where individuals and families project piety and honor on the front stage while concealing emotional, economic, and spiritual immaturity in the backstage. The study concludes that this shift represents a change from theological meaning to symbolic religiosity. It highlights the importance of restoring marriage to its genuine Islamic values—as an act of worship and moral responsibility—to build harmonious and sustainable families.

Abstract

Difficulty in comprehending Javanese, which has a rich vocabulary and many expressions, makes it challenging for students to find the moral values contained within the text. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the students' ability to find moral values and to identify the factors influencing their ability to do so in the Javanese folk tale, "Gunung Tugel," for 4th Grade Javanese Language subject. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was checked using a credibility test with triangulation, utilizing other sources outside the data for cross-checking purposes. The data analysis technique employed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of Data Reduction, Data Display, and Verification. The results indicate that the students' ability to find moral values in the "Gunung Tugel" story is low. This is reflected in their inability to identify the inherent moral values. Students tend to view the story merely as entertainment without delving into the underlying meaning. This limitation suggests that the development of students' intellectual capacity in evaluating and reflecting on moral values from narrative texts is not yet optimal. Influencing factors include: minimal student interest and motivation towards folk tales, the perception that folk tales are only entertainment, the "Gunung Tugel" story being considered less interesting by some students, and constraints in understanding the language of the story, which becomes the main obstacle in finding the moral values.

Abstract

Parenting is a series of obligations that must be carried out by parents. If parenting is not done properly and appropriately, various problems and conflicts will often arise, both within the child and between the child and parents, as well as with the surrounding environment. The condition of society in general is very unfortunate. It has undergone changes, and the implementation and use of traditions based on local wisdom have been increasingly displaced in everyday life. Traditional values are even being almost eliminated and forgotten. The essence of traditions is now beginning to be forgotten with the influx of foreign cultures. Millennial mothers today generally tend to prefer to raise their children in a modern environment that is far from religious values. This can have an impact on the formation of children's characters that are not in line with expectations, deviating from the norms established in Islamic teachings, and making them less able to deal with various life problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the values of parenting in shaping children's religiosity through the peurateb aneuk tradition in the city of Lhokseumawe. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that there are values of faith parenting, including the pillars of faith; values of moral parenting, including obedience and respect; and values of worship parenting, including the pillars of Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is implemented in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI), Identify the supporting and inhibiting factors during the implementation of PBL and to describe strategies that can be used to optimize its application in order to improve student learning outcomes. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, classroom observations, and documentation. The research was conducted at SMP Budi Utomo Surakarta from October 2024 to September 2025, involving PAI teachers, the homeroom teacher, and students of Grade VII C as the research subjects. Data were analyzed through data condensation, narrative data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL in the PAI classroom of Grade VII C is carried out effectively and follows systematic learning stages. Supporting factors include students’ high learning motivation, interactive learning methods, the availability of textbooks and learning media, and the school’s support for innovative teaching. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consist of limited instructional time, differences in students’ ability to understand problems, and unequal availability of multimedia facilities in each classroom.Overall, the PBL strategy is considered effective, as it enhances student collaboration, encourages active participation, and develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the teacher’s understanding of the values of trustworthiness (amanah) and justice (‘adl) in teaching Hadith Chapter 18 of the At-Tijan fi Syu’ab al-Iman at MA Al Islam Jamsaren Surakarta. The research questions focus on how teachers comprehend, implement, and internalize these moral values within the Hadith learning process. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Hadith teachers, classroom observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed thematically through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the teacher demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of trustworthiness and justice as fundamental moral and spiritual principles in Islamic education. Amanah is perceived as a manifestation of faith and responsibility, while ‘adl is understood as maintaining balance and fairness in actions and decisions. These values are integrated through contextual learning and exemplary behavior, reinforced by a religious and disciplined school culture. The study concludes that Hadith learning functions not merely as a transfer of religious knowledge but as a transformative process for building Islamic character and moral integrity. The research contributes theoretically to the development of Hadith-based value learning models and provides practical implications for strengthening character education in Islamic schools (madrasah). The implication is that Hadith learning emphasizing the values of trustworthiness and justice should be contextually adapted to ensure its relevance to the moral challenges faced by the modern generation.
