Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of khitobiyah activities, identify the communication competencies developed, and analyze their role in strengthening the communication competence of santri at Miftahul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Ngroto, Gubug, Grobogan. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data sources included the boarding school leader, supervising teachers, and santri who actively participated in khitobiyah activities. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that khitobiyah activities are implemented systematically through the stages of material preparation, speech delivery, and regular evaluation. The communication competencies developed include verbal, nonverbal, interpersonal, and psychological aspects. Santri demonstrated improvements in organizing and delivering materials systematically, using intonation, facial expressions, eye contact, and gestures more effectively, as well as increased self-confidence and courage in public speaking. Khitobiyah activities play a significant role in strengthening communication competence through habituation, practical experience, social interaction, and continuous evaluation. The study concludes that khitobiyah serves as a communication learning model based on pesantren culture that holistically integrates communication knowledge, skills, motivation, and attitudes.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the public sector requires government organizations to optimize information technology, including personnel management through Electronic Human Resources Management (e-HRM). The Sumatra III River Basin Agency has implemented e-HRM since 2017; however, its utilization has not been fully optimized due to low employee participation in updating personnel data. This study aims to analyze organizational communication strategies in the implementation of e HRM from the aspects of planning, implementation, and evaluation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that communication planning was carried out through top-down policies, socialization, and training, but remained largely instructional in nature. Communication implementation involved vertical, horizontal, and diagonal flows, with vertical communication as the dominant pattern. Communication evaluation has been conducted; however, it remains administrative and has not been sustainable in fostering changes in organizational work culture. This study confirms that the success of e-HRM implementation depends not only on technological readiness but also on participatory, collaborative, and sustainable organizational communication strategies to support bureaucratic digital transformation.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed music videos into audiovisual media capable of constructing emotional and cultural meanings through visual symbolsm, lighting, gestures, and cinematic narration. One of the Indonesian music videos that strongly represents emotional experiences is "O, Tuan" by . Feast, which presents themes of loss, grief, and death through dark visual symbolism. This study aims to analyze how emotional representations of loss and death are constructed through visual signs in the music video 'O, Tuan' using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with primary data obtained through observation and documentation of scenes from the music video, while secondary data were collected from books, journals, and related literature. Data were analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic framework through denotative, connotative, and mythological interpretation of visual and verbal signs. The findings showed that emotional meanings were constructed through dominant low-key lighting, dark color palettes, non-verbal expressions, and spatial symbolism. The music video represents stages of grief, including denial, emotional emptiness, trauma, and acceptance. This study concludes that 'O, Tuan' functions as an audiovisual medium that represents complex emotional experiences related to grief and death. This study contributes to the development of visual semiotic studies in Indonesian popular music by demonstrating how audiovisual symbolism constructs emotional representations of grief and death.

Abstract

Online media play an important role in shaping public understanding of environmental issues through news framing. The issue of nickel mining in Raja Ampat has attracted public attention because the area is known as a conservation region with high biodiversity value. This study aims to analyze how Mongabay.co.id and Kompas.com construct reality regarding the conflict between ecological interests and natural resource industrialization in Raja Ampat. This study uses a qualitative approach with Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki’s framing analysis. The data consist of news articles related to nickel mining activities in Raja Ampat published by Mongabay.co.id and Kompas.com. The analysis focuses on syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. The results show that Mongabay.co.id emphasizes environmental damage and ecological crisis through evaluative language and dominant environmental perspectives. Meanwhile, Kompas.com presents the issue in a more balanced and contextual way by combining social, policy, and governmental perspectives. The study concludes that differences in media framing influence public understanding of environmental damage, ecological crisis urgency, and the position of Raja Ampat as a conservation area.
