Abstract

Indonesian immigrant children growing up in Malaysia often have limited structured exposure to Nusantara culture within informal learning environments. Traditional regional dance offers strong pedagogical value, yet its impact must extend beyond movement imitation to foster cultural literacy. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a blended cultural learning activity in strengthening Nusantara cultural literacy through regional dance education at Sanggar Bimbingan Pandan Jaya, Malaysia. A blended activity method was used, including (1) cultural stimulus through traditional dance videos, (2) cognitive reinforcement using gamified quizzes on dance names and regional origins, and (3) stepwise guided dance practice emphasizing rhythm, expression, and movement synchronization. Data were collected through observation, quiz scores, and movement evaluation rubrics involving 20 students (grades 3–6). Results show that videos increased engagement and cultural recognition, quizzes improved immediate factual recall accuracy, and 80% of participants could follow fundamental dance movements with adequate rhythmic synchronization after guided demonstrations. Participants also displayed rising confidence, cultural pride, and a developing sense of belonging toward Indonesian cultural roots.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to introduce Indonesian national and regional folk songs to Indonesian migrant children at Sanggar Bimbingan (SB) Pandan Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Held on 30 October 2025, the activity involved 20 children aged 9–12 years who initially had very limited knowledge of Indonesian culture due to stronger exposure to Malaysian popular media. The intervention used a simple audiovisual approach by screening videos of four regional songs (Rasa Sayange, Jali-Jali, Ampar-Ampar Pisang, Es Lilin) and three national anthems (Indonesia Raya, Bagimu Negeri, Hari Merdeka). Children then received short explanations about each song’s origin and meaning before participating in group singing sessions. Pre-test findings showed that only 15% of participants could name a single regional song and none knew a complete national anthem. After the activity, results improved markedly: all children were able to identify at least three regional songs with their origins and all three national anthems, 85% could accurately sing the refrains, and 95% instinctively stood in respect when Indonesia Raya was played. Enthusiasm was consistently high, and students expressed pride in their Indonesian identity. Attention challenges were managed using quick quizzes and small rewards. Seven high-quality song videos were donated as permanent learning materials, ensuring lasting cultural impact.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) was initiated in response to the limited effectiveness of promotional strategies used by NU Beauty Clinic in Jonggol, Bogor, which struggled to reach a wider audience due to minimally informative messages and restricted use of digital media. The program, conducted in October 2025 by lecturers and students of Universitas Djuanda and attended by 15 clinic employees, aimed to strengthen the clinic’s marketing communication through digital-based promotional improvements. Using interviews, observations, discussions, problem analysis, and the implementation of digital solutions, the team identified that previous promotional content relied heavily on before–after photos without explaining service benefits, treatment types, or customer testimonials, while promotional channels were limited to WhatsApp and Instagram. The PkM activities resulted in enhanced promotional content and the development of additional digital platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, enabling the clinic to expand audience reach and improve visibility. These efforts provided more relevant communication alternatives for the clinic’s target market and contributed to a more structured and sustainable promotional strategy. Overall, the program is expected to support NU Beauty Clinic in strengthening its competitiveness and increasing business revenue through effective and comprehensive digital marketing practices.

Abstract

This community service program addressed the digital literacy gap among Indonesian migrant children at SB Pandan Jaya, Malaysia, who face limited access to digital resources and online safety education. The initiative aimed to strengthen students’ foundational digital skills, promote safe and ethical internet use, and equip teachers with practical tools to facilitate sustained digital literacy. The program was implemented in October 2025 at SB Pandan Jaya, involving 43 students aged 8–15 and 8 teachers, with 12 facilitators from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, STIE Anindyaguna, and STT Pati. A mixed-method participatory approach was employed, combining pre- and post-assessments, classroom observations, reflective interviews, hands-on workshops, and simulated online scenarios. The intervention followed four stages: needs assessment, capacity building and training, guided practice and mentoring, and evaluation and monitoring. Findings indicate significant improvements in student competencies: basic internet knowledge increased by 94%, device operation by 80%, digital safety by 113%, and educational application use by 76%. Teachers’ capacity to integrate ICT and monitor students’ online safety also improved by 61% on average. High attendance and active engagement demonstrated the relevance and effectiveness of the program. Practical sessions and structured guidance enabled students to apply digital skills confidently while fostering safe online behavior. Overall, this program highlights the importance of community-based digital literacy initiatives in enhancing technological readiness and promoting safe internet practices among marginalized migrant children.
