Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney failure generally have comorbidities that cause the treatment of chronic kidney failure to be complex so that the number of drugs received by patients increases. The number of drugs consumed by the patient will increase the potential for drug interactions. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics, treatment patterns and potential drug interactions of patients with chronic kidney failure at Samarinda Medika Citra Hospital. The research method used is a non-experimental (observational) descriptive study with a retrospective approach. Data collection was carried out based on the medical record sheet of Chronic Kidney Failure patients in the inpatient room at Samarinda Medika Citra Hospital and obtained 59 patients. The results of the study of characteristic data based on age with the highest percentage in the elderly as much as 52.54%, based on gender, the highest percentage of sex was in the male sex, namely 50.85% and female as much as 49.15%. The most common comorbidities was anemia 50.84%. The most use of drug class is combination of 4 therapies with Antihypertensive + Supplement, Vitamin, Mineral + Antiulcer + Antiemetic group as much as 79.66%. The most common potential drug interactions found was the interaction of ranitidine with calos as much as 35.59% with minor severity.

Abstract

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is one of the essential oil producing plants known as Lemongrass oil with the main content of citral compounds. Lemongrass essential oil is known to have antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of lemongrass oil can be used for skin care in the form of a peel off gel mask. The purpose of this study was to formulate a peel off gel mask preparation from lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon citratus) and to know the results of the physical evaluation of the peel off gel mask. The peel off gel mask was made in three formulas with different concentrations of PVA, namely F1 (10%), F2 (13%), and F3 (16%). Physical evaluation tests include organoleptic tests, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, dispersion, and drying time. The peel off gel mask in the three formulas was obtained in the form of a thick gel, white in color, and had a characteristic lemongrass smell. The results obtained based on the physical evaluation showed that the three formulas had met the required standard parameters.

Abstract

Berenuk or Maja Leaves (Cresentia cujete L.) is a plant that grows in the tropics. In Indonesia, the use of Berenuk Leaves for health is not utilized optimally, and there is still a lack of research on this plant. To be able to be developed as a traditional medicinal ingredient, it is necessary to know the content of secondary metabolites contained in berenuk leaf extract. This study aims to determine the secondary metabolites contained in berenuk leaf extract through phytochemical screening, TLC profile in C. cujete L. leaves. Extraction was carried out using methanol by maceration. After fractionation were carried out by using n-hexane and ethyl acetate as solvents. Then, a phytochemical analysis was screened and a TLC bioautography. Secondary metabolites by the compounds contained in C. cujete L. are alkaloids, tannins, saponins and steroids. C. cujete L. which has antioxidant activity was marked with yellow spots on TLC plates that had been sprayed with DPPH.

Abstract

Antibiotics are an effective therapy diseases caused by bacteria so that patients or the public sometimes use them as self-medication drugs. Due to the lack of knowledge and behavior of the community this can lead to cases of antibiotic resistance. The purpose was to determine the level of knowledge and behavior of the community towards the use of antibiotics in Kelurahan Dawi-Dawi, Southeast Sulawesi province. The knowledge and behavior of the community was obtained using a simple descriptive method, cross sectional, with an instrument in the form of a questionnaire that could be distributed to the community to be analyzed regarding the level of knowledge and behavior. This research has involved 196 test respondents. The results showed that the profile of the characteristics of the respondents were mostly female, 35-44 years old, last graduated from high school and worked as a housewife. For the overall results of Kelurahan Dawi-Dawi, Southeast Sulawesi province, having sufficient knowledge 42.9% and sufficient behavior 49.0%. The results of the test of the relationship between knowledge and people's behavior were obtained for the correlation coefficient value using the Spearman formula is Has a moderate correlation of 0.357, a significance of 0.000 with the direction (+).

Abstract

Blush is a type of decorative cosmetic used to give red color in the cheeks area so that the face looks prettier, fresh and dimensional. Currently there are many blush on in the market that contain hazardous chemicals. Then a blush on made from Rosella flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa) containing anthocyanin pigments uses as a safer dye alternative. This blush on cream formula made using Rosella flower extract with concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% with the resulting color of pale pink, pink and purplish pink. Evaluations test undertaken include organoleptic test, homogeneity test, spreadability test, pH test, viscosity test and stability test. The results obtained based on organoleptic test, homogeneity test, spreadability test, pH test, viscosity test shows that all three formulas entered into the required range of values.

Abstract

Dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has the potential as an antibacterial which can be formulated as an acne spot. Acne spot gel with active ingredients of dragon fruit peel extract was evaluated including olganoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility and viscosity as well as antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes. The results obtained showed that the acne spot gel dragon fruit peel extract was physically stable and had inhibition zones against P. acnes bacteria of 23.855 mm (F1) and 23.671 mm (F2) and against S. aureus bacteria of 22.127 mm (F1) and 23.410. mm (F2).
