Fever is a condition of an increase in body temperature above normal. Parents, especially mothers, have an important role in dealing with children with fever, however, not many mothers have the knowledge and skills in early handling of fever, one of which is the tepid water sponge. The purpose of this study is to provide health education about handling fever using the tepid water sponge method. This research with pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest). The sample in this study amounted to 30 mothers who have children aged 1-5 years and registered at the Posyandu Bantarkawung Village. Bumiayu District, Brebes Regency. Samples were taken by total sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire sheet for the level of knowledge and observation sheets for skills. Data analysis using paired sample t test. The results showed that the skills before health education were 28 (93.3%) lacking in skills and decreased to 14 people (46.7%) after the intervention. The level of lack of knowledge was 14 (46.7%) and decreased to 5 (16.7%) after the health education intervention. There is a relationship between health education about the tepid water sponge on knowledge and skills in handling fever in the family (p value 0.000). Abstract

Background: Neonatal placement increases the need of perinatology room. The mortality rate of neonates in the perinatology room reached a progressive rate in Indonesia in 2021. Some severe conditions in neonates placed in the perinatology room included asphyxia, low birth weight, sepsis, and infection. The importance of segregating the neonatal ward in perinatology as a special treatment room for emergency conditions is to achieve optimal health and to reduce the mortality in neonates. Objective: The study aimed to determine the factors associated with the neonatal ward at Prof. Hospital Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Methode: This was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The study was carried out from March 24th-April 24th, 2022. The population in this study was 100 respondents. There were two groups of 50 respondents selected from the non-perinatology room and the perinatology room using a consecutive sampling technique. Result: The result showed that four significant factors were found that were associated with neonatal ward placement in perinatology based on the Bivariate analysis and Chi-Square test with 95% CI and a p-value of 0.05. They include birth weight (0.014), APGAR score (0.001), gestational period (0.003), and type of delivery (0.009). Then, the results of a multivariate analysis of the four factors indicated that the type of delivery was the most dominant (B=1.371). Conclusion: In this study, the variable of the type of delivery done by cesarean section was the most dominant factor in the placement of the neonatal ward in perinatology.

Abstract

Background: LBW is defined as a baby born with a weight of less than 2,500 grams. LBW is the leading cause of neonatal mortality in Indonesia in 2021 and can lead to growth failure, cognitive development disorders, and chronic illnesses in infants. Objective : To identify the factors associated with LBW incidence in Tentara Wijayakusuma Hospital, Purwokerto, in 2022. Method: This study employed an analytic survey design with a case-control approach and a retrospective view. The study population consisted of all medical records of mothers who gave birth in Tentara Wijayakusuma Hospital in 2022, with a total sample size of 64, including 32 cases and 32 controls. The sampling technique used was total sampling and simple random sampling. Data collection was done using data collection sheets and checklists. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: The study found significant associations between occupation (p=0.043), gestational age (p=0.010), interpregnancy interval (p=0.034), anemia (p=0.001), hypertension (p=0.025), and pregnancy-induced hypertension (p=0.008) with LBW incidence. The multivariate analysis indicated that the most dominant factor was anemia (p=0.000). Conclusion: There are correlations between occupation, maternal age, interpregnancy interval, anemia, hypertension, and pregnancy-induced hypertension with LBW incidence. Anemia is the most dominant factor associated with LBW incidence in Tentara Wijayakusuma Hospital, Purwokerto, in 2022.
