Abstract

Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM) in Cipanas, Cianjur Regency, implemented a stunting prevention project in its working area which was carried out in a one-year program period from the initial stage to the final stage. The stunting prevention project was carried out through assistance to integrated health posts by providing training for cadres, providing nutritional aid to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, providing complementary food assistance for breast milk for babies, providing health education and counseling for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, providing free ultrasound examination assistance, providing cooking class training for breastfeeding mothers and providing additional incentives for integrated health post cadres. The purpose of this study was to determine and improve the development of participatory planning design based on community assets through an appreciative inquiry approach in the stunting prevention project implemented at YUM. This study uses a qualitative approach with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques, in-depth interviews, observations, documentation studies, and literature review. The primary data sources in this study were participants consisting of YUM project managers, YUM project officers, integrated health post cadres, community leaders, and village government officials. The study began with a reflection on the initial design, then identified and formulated design improvement needs and prepared a design development plan based on needs. After the design was formed, the design draft was implemented at the research locus and ended with an evaluation to obtain recommendations for design improvements. The results of the implementation of the technology engineering design showed that the participatory planning design based on community assets through an appreciative inquiry approach in the stunting prevention project could support the sustainability of the program after the termination of services from YUM.

Abstract

People with intellectual disabilities often have difficulty maintaining personal hygiene due to their limited intellectual functioning. Modeling techniques are often less effective due to the lack of subsequent reinforcement. To assess how effective modeling techniques combined with positive reinforcement are in helping people with intellectual disabilities at Sentra Wirajaya Makassar to better maintain personal hygiene. This study used a quantitative method with a single subject design (Single Subject Design/SSD) type A-B-A. Data were collected by observing the subjects personal hygiene behavior before, during, and after the intervention. After implementing this technique, there was a clear improvement in personal hygiene behavior in people with intellectual disabilities. This is seen from the improving trend graph, positive changes in behavioral levels, and more stable behavior. The analysis shows that this intervention has a strong positive impact. Modeling techniques combined with positive reinforcement are very effective in improving personal hygiene in people with intellectual disabilities. Social workers are advised to use this approach to help address personal hygiene issues in this group effectively.

Abstract

Children living within institutional care systems often face various challenges, not only in adapting to the environment of the orphanage but also in preparing for independence after leaving care. In this context, social workers act as frontliners who assist children in exploring their potential and providing services according to their needs. This study aims to explain the role of social workers in preparing social welfare residents for independent living after leaving institution through the implementation of vocational skills clasess at PSBR Taruna Jaya 1. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews with social workers, child mentors, and foster child, as well as observations of skill development activities conducted at PSBR Taruna Jaya 1. The findings show that social workers play an active role in fostering the independence of neglected children through various roles, including enabler, broker, educator, empowerer, facilitator, and motivator. These roles contribute to building children’s independence through vocational training programs and social guidance. This study recommends strengthening the engagement and active involvement of social workers with social welfare residents, both during the guidance process and after termination.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Professional Community program organized by BMKA Masjid Salman ITB in shaping alumni cadres’ professional readiness and character to face post-campus challenges. The scope of the research includes personal transformation, skills development, satisfaction with the mentoring system, and the sustainability of participants’ social contributions. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using semi-structured interviews with seven purposively selected informants actively involved in the program. The findings show that the program has had a positive impact on participants by transforming their perspective on profession as a form of service, enhancing technical and leadership skills, and fostering a mentoring ecosystem that encourages long-term relationships between generations of cadres. However, technical and accessibility challenges remain, especially regarding the hybrid format and limited openness to non-internal participants. Overall, the program is considered effective in shaping resilient and value-driven young professionals who contribute meaningfully to society, and it serves as a relevant model for value-based professional development in university settings.KEYWORDS: Professional Community, Youth Empowerment, Campus Mosque
