Jurnal Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun (setiap bulan Juni dan Desember) merupakan kumpulan hasil karya dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis dengan lingkup kajian perpustakaan, kepustakawanan, informasi (information studies) dan kearsipan, karena itu menjadi wadah pengembangan ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang kritis, dinamis dan aktual. Jurnal Al- Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi menampilkan karya tulis berbahasa Indonesia dengan fokus pada perkembangan keilmuan yang merupakan hasil penelitian atau kajian teoritis yang berkaitan dengan literatur perpustakaan dan informasi serta kearsipan. Jurnal ini diterbitkan oleh Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan dan informasi Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, baik edisi cetak maupun online. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan hasil karya dari penelitian secara berkualitas berdasarkan data aktual dan asli yang berkontribusi untuk para dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis studi ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi. Dari aspek perpustakaan diharapkan akan dapat ditampilkan analisis terhadap konsep/ teori dan struktur kajian ilmu perpustakaan yang mencakup kepustakawanan. Serta dari aspek informasi (information studies) diharapkan akan dapat dimunculkan analisis tentang teknologi informasi, sosial informasi (information social) dan lain-lain secara konprehensif dan berkualitas.

ABSTRACT This paper describes how the role of effective communication in speeding up the process of transfer of information in the College Library. Introduction. This article is entitled "Analysis of webometrics content in the Syiah Kuala University repository and the University of North Sumatra". The purpose in writing is to look at the quality of institutional repositories based on webometrics content, which has an impact on the ranking of webometrics 2020. Data Collection Method. In this article the authors use a descriptive quantitative approach, while observations are made by observing and analyzing search results on webometrics indicator devices systematically and in a standardized manner. existing indicators, data generated for each webometrics content indicator against size indicators, visibility indicators, rich file indicators, scholar indicators on institutional repository websites through search engines and normalized. Result and Discussions. The results of this study are that each indicator of size, visibility, rich file and scholar in the repository of the University of North Sumatra is superior to Syiah Kuala University with the total ranking of the December 2019 webometrics indicator is 3.56506 while Syiah Kuala University with a total value of 0.83811 . Then the difference in the total rating in the repository is 2.72695, which allows a change in the ranking of the two universities. Conclusions. From the results of the repository ranking, the University of North Sumatra was superior with a score of 3.56506 while Syiah Kuala University with a total score of 0.83811. Then the difference in the total ranking value in the repository is 2,72695 which has an impact on each achievement of activeness with loyal members of the community in developing institutional repositories. From this, the academic community of each campus should encourage their scientific works to be published on the repository website they already have, while students submit their scientific work in the form of a paper or final project to the library and then processed and disseminated on the repository website.

Introduction. The purpose of this study is to find out how library preparedness in facing fire disasters in the Regional Library and Archives Service of Jambi Province, what are the factors that hamper the library to make preparedness in facing fire disasters and what are the supporting factors to overcome obstacles to library preparedness in facing fire disasters at the Jambi Provincial Library and Archives Service. Data collection method. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach with data collection techniques used, namely interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were the Head of the Library, the Secretary, the Librarian, the Head of the Kasubbid Program for the Preservation of Library Materials and the Fire Service Officer and firefighters. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling to determine the sampling with characters in accordance with the objectives of the study. Analysis data. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction analysis, data presentation and conclusions. Result and Discussion. The results of this study that preparedness in the face of fire disaster Jambi Provincial Library and Archive Service at the prevention stage are routine inspections of buildings, routine inspections of fire fighting equipment, marking and securing very important collections, not providing training to staff, not insuring buildings and collection and has conducted a fire disaster risk analysis. At the planning stage, which has not made guidelines and policies for fire disaster management, has not selected and determined staff members of the fire disaster management team, identified and secured collections that are important and rare, has not made a list containing the names of experts, consultants and institutions authorities, both government and private, must be contacted immediately in the event of a fire disaster and have not renewed and regularly checked insurance agreements. The factors that hamper Jambi Province to prepare in the face of a fire disaster are the budget, human resources and fire fighting equipment. Supporting factors to overcome the obstacle of library preparedness in facing fire disaster in the Jambi Provincial Library and Archives Service is to utilize the existing budget. Conclusions. There are two stages of the library in disaster preparedness, namely, the prevention and planning stages. It is hoped that the library can maximize the implementation of fire disaster preparedness, especially at the prevention and planning stages.

Introduction. In this study researchers explain about how user’s perceptions about the attitude of librarians in providing services to the UPT UIN STS Jambi circulation service. Whit this research, we can find out how he attitude of librarians in providing service in UPT UIN STS Jambi circulation service is sees from the perpective of visitors. Data Collection Method. The method that researchers use is qualitative research method. Resource persons in this study were determined by several considerations of people who have used library services and know the librarian code of ethics. The method in collecting data researchers used the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Results and Discussions. The result of this study can be concluded that the services provided by librarians in circulation services UPT UIN STS Jambi to library users are not good, because there are still some attitude of librarians in serving librarians who are not in accordance whit the librarian code of ethics.

Introduction. Today we enter an era where the use of technology in everyday life is very natural. The use of this technology turned out to pose a challenge for information providers, one of them was the library. The library must be able to present information that collaborates with technology so that information can be conveyed effectively and efficiently to its users. One of them is by providing library websites using ASP.Net, which is server-side technology to develop web applications based on Microsoft .NET framework. Thus, libraries can create dynamic sites and web applications that are interactive, easy to use, easy to develop. Data Collection Method. In collecting data in this paper the writer uses data collection methods in the form of Results and Discussions. This article discusses the history of ASP. Net and its objects namely Namespace, Web Form, Basic Web Form Syntax, Class Page, Request Object, Respone Object, Server Object Conclusions. ASP.Net has many objects and is easy to use. Therefore, ASP.NET can be one of the recommendations for use in creating Web libraries

Introduction. This article aims to literacy of the indigenous community of Sengeti village in passing the indigenous values of Jambi Malay culture. The purpose of this research is to know how the community ability Sengeti Village in accessing, evaluating, and using and communicating information Tradition Seloko. Data Collection Method. The research method used in this research is descriptive in the form of a case study which aims to explain the literacy of the traditional seloko adat of the Sengeti Village community. The technique used in this research is qualitative, while the approach is in phenomenology Data Analysis. Qualitative analysis in communication research departs from a phenomenological approach, on the grounds that phenomenological analysis is more appropriately used to parse the problems of human subjects who are generally disobedient, changeable and so on. Result and Discussion. This result of research has depicted that; firstly, community ability Sengeti Village in accessing information this is optimally, it can be seen from the findings in the field that the community is able to define the information needs and understand the meaning of Tradition Seloko. Secondly, Then the ability to evaluate information not yet optimal can be seen from sub components of assessment and information settings, they rarely do information analysis, which is more dominant is done check and filter information. Thirdly, The community ability of Sengeti village to use and disseminate information could have been optimal. It can be seen they are using it as personal knowledge and spreading it as a frie nd and the person who is deemed to need information about Tradition Seloko. Conclusions. Activities to access information are carried out by participating in the traditional seloko training, asking people who know more about traditional seloko, looking for information on the internet. Information is evaluated by analyzing information, checking information, and filtering in search of the information needed. Information is used by applying the information obtained to life, making videos, articles, and YouTube vlogs that contain information about Seloko Adat for promotional needs and information sharing. From these activities, it is hoped that the community will be more careful in evaluating information and need the involvement of the younger generation to participate in preserving the traditional seloko.

ABSTRACT Introduction. nformation is a medium that has high use value. For everyone, the need for information is everything for the sake of carrying out daily activities. The purpose of this study in general is to find out the information seeking model for IPI Postgraduate students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta class of 2018, these students are included in the millennial generation. Specific or more specific objectives in this research are; (a) to determine the variety of generations, (b) to find out the information needs of students, (c) to find out the origins of information seeking sources, (d) to find out information seeking models, (e) and to find out barriers to information seeking Data Collection Method. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, using a case study model. The determination of the research subjects was carried out by using purposive sampling technique. This research uses information theory. The informants in this study were 13 students of postgraduate IPI concentration class 2018. The data collection techniques in this study used interview techniques and documentation study. Results and Discussions. Based on the results of interviews and data analysis conducted, the results indicate the need for information on IPI postgraduate class 2018 students in the form of; books, internet journals, videos, recordings, and literature related to IPI concentration. Sources of information used by students are; books, reading rooms in libraries, internet, seminars, and human resources. Information seeking model by students in the form of; Ellis' model: starting, chaining, browsing, differentianting, mentoring, extracting. Conclusions. Using methods or models to obtain information, and obstacles in obtaining information cannot be avoided because of the limited skills students have. The Ellis model is a model or search for the right information to be implemented by IPI postgraduate students of class 2018

ABSTRACT Introduction. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of internet use on student interest in visiting the UPT Library of the State Islamic University of Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi.. Data Collection Method. This research is a descriptive quantitative research with data collection techniques, namely observation, questionnaires and documentation. The population in this study were students who were active in the library of the State Islamic University of Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. While the sample used the Slovin formula with accidental technique with a large sample of 99 people. Analysis Data.The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis, simple linear regression test, hypothesis testing and determination test. Results and Discussions. Based on the analysis of the percentage score on the internet utilization variable, it was obtained a score percentage of 81.46% in the 81.25% - 100% interval, which means that the use of the internet is included in the very good category. While the interest in visiting was obtained by a percentage score of 79.1% in the interval 62.50% - 81.24% which means that the interest in visiting is in the good category. Based on the simple linear regression test, there is an influence between internet use and visiting interest, the equation Y = 14.402 + 0.527 X is obtained, if every 1% increase in internet utilization rate (X) then visiting interest (Y) will increase by 0.527. Based on the hypothesis test, it is obtained that t count is 5.405 and a significant value of 0.00 then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In the coefficient of determination, it is known that the R square value of 0.231 means that the effect of internet use (X) on visiting interest (Y) is 23.1% while 76.9% of visiting interest is influenced by other variables not studied. Conclusions. Based on the research that has been done, there is a strong relationship between internet use and visiting interest. . By using the internet, it makes communication easy for users, provides learning support in helping meet the information needs needed and utilizing the internet can help libraries in improving their services.

Introduction. This article discusses the existence of social media YouTube, Instagram and Watsapp in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic among virtual communities in Indonesia. The development of social media is increasing every year, especially in the conditions of the corona virus outbreak. The development of social media in Indonesia has experienced a very significant increase, it can be seen that Indonesia is in the 3rd position of social media users in the world. Data Collection Method. The method used in this article is by using the literature method by reading literature related to discussion and it can be analyzed that the existence of social media such as YouTube in the midst of the Covid pandemic has experienced a surge in users of around 88% and is then followed by Whatsapp social media with the number of accesses of 84% and Instagram with 79%. Results and Discussions. Based on the data above, we can see the development and level of existence of several social media which is frequently accessed by the world's population during the Covid 19 pandemic. This development has certainly experienced a very clear penetration of internet users among the Indonesian virtual community. Conclusions. the development of social media in Indonesia and globally has increased very significantly. The existence of social media which was popular during the Covid-19 pandemic, which placed YouTube as the first media that was very popular with the highest number of users in the world.
