Jurnal Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun (setiap bulan Juni dan Desember) merupakan kumpulan hasil karya dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis dengan lingkup kajian perpustakaan, kepustakawanan, informasi (information studies) dan kearsipan, karena itu menjadi wadah pengembangan ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang kritis, dinamis dan aktual. Jurnal Al- Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi menampilkan karya tulis berbahasa Indonesia dengan fokus pada perkembangan keilmuan yang merupakan hasil penelitian atau kajian teoritis yang berkaitan dengan literatur perpustakaan dan informasi serta kearsipan. Jurnal ini diterbitkan oleh Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan dan informasi Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, baik edisi cetak maupun online. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan hasil karya dari penelitian secara berkualitas berdasarkan data aktual dan asli yang berkontribusi untuk para dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis studi ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi. Dari aspek perpustakaan diharapkan akan dapat ditampilkan analisis terhadap konsep/ teori dan struktur kajian ilmu perpustakaan yang mencakup kepustakawanan. Serta dari aspek informasi (information studies) diharapkan akan dapat dimunculkan analisis tentang teknologi informasi, sosial informasi (information social) dan lain-lain secara konprehensif dan berkualitas.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the process of procurement of library materials at the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency. The research method used is library research methodologically classified as qualitative research with a descriptive approach in the form of a case study which aims to explain the procurement of library materials at the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency. Data collection techniques used were through observation and interviews. The findings of the study are (1) the Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency has carried out library material procurement activities through purchases from book agents, bookstores, gifts, entrances and through assistance once a year. (2) The Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency has never procured serial publications, as well as non-book materials (recorded works) because according to them library materials are rarely needed by users. (3) The procurement of library funds for library materials is not running properly as seen from the constraints that occur, namely the lack of spending funds for the procurement of library materials both from series published library materials and recorded library materials, as well as the lack of attention from leaders leading to the procurement of library materials so that the available collections incomplete, not up to date and not used by the user. From these findings, it is hoped that the Regional Library and Archives Office of Muaro Jambi Regency will continue to procure collections of serial publications and recorded works because these collections can increase the number of collections available, create public interest in reading and add to the repertoire of library collections. Furthermore, the Regional Library and Archives Service of Muaro Jambi Regency should process funds properly by paying attention to user needs so that library materials purchased are in accordance with user education. Then also the head of the library must pay more attention that leads to the procurement of library materials so that the available collections can be more up to date, complete, and can be used by users. Pendahuluan. Promosi perpustakaan merupakan suatu proses untuk meperkenalkan seluruh kegiatan, layanan, dan koleksi bahan pustaka yang ada di perpustakaan kepada masyarakat. Tujuan promosi perpustakaan adalah agar masyarakat dapat mengetahui dan memahami seluruh kegiatan, layanan, dan koleksi bahan pustaka yang tersedia di perpustakaan. Salah satu sarana yang dapat digunakan sebagai media promosi perpustakaan adalah dengan memanfaatkan media sosial, yang apabila dibandingkan dengan penggunaan media konvensional atau media lainnya, media sosial dinilai lebih unggul dan banyak mendatangkan manfaat pada perpustakaan yang melalukan promosi tersebut. Metode Penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan dengan cara mengambil, membaca, dan mencatat data yang ada pada bahan literatur seperti artikel atau jurnal yang terjamin kefalidannya. Hasil dan Pembahasan. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sarana promosi perpustakaan mendatangkan banyak manfaat dan kelebihan apabila dibandingkan dengan penggunaan media konvensional. Dengan digunakannya media sosial sebagai sarana promosi perpustakaan, maka proses promosi perpustakaan dapat berlangsung secara global, cepat, murah, dan membuka interaksi yang lebih intens antara pustakawan dengan pengguna. Kesimpulan dan Saran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sarana promosi perpustakaan.

This paper aims to determine the role of curative preservation in ensuring the safety and preservation of static archives. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques using library studies. The results of the study found that curative preservation plays a very important role in ensuring the safety and preservation of archives because the actions and instructions contained in it can repair and maintain archives that have started or have been damaged. So that these actions and instructions can be used as guidelines by any archival institution to repair and maintain the static archives they have.

ABSTRACT Introduction. One of the four guidelines required in the dynamic archive management process is the Security Classification System and Archive Access. Its existence is needed as a guideline for managing archives in providing access services to dynamic archives. The purpose of this research is so that the public, especially the college community, can know and implement the preparation of college regulations, especially on the Classification of Security and Access to Dynamic Archives, and implement them. The Dynamic Archive Security and Access Classification System at Sebelas Maret University is regulated based on archival legislation and college archival legislation based on rector regulations. Research methods. This research uses qualitative methods with a stud library approach. Data analysis. Data is analyzed by studying books, literature, records, and various reports related to research. Results and discussion. The archiving governance of Universitas Sebelas Maret refers to government policies and regulations as well as authorized agencies such as ANRI related to archiving. The archive collection consists of textual and non-textual archives. Archives are classified into ordinary, limited, confidential and highly classified information. The classification of archives is assisted by conventional storage facilities and digital storage facilities. Conclusions and suggestions. The classification of archival access is a category of restrictions on access to archives based on the authority to use archives related to the implementation of certain tasks and functions. Archival security is a physical protection program and archival information based on its security classification. Keywords: Security System Classifications,s, Dynamic Archives.

ABSTRACT Introduction. This study aims to determine the strategy of developing the competence of librarians at the Office of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul. Data Collection Method. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Methods of data collection using frank or covert observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The technique of determining the informants used purposive sampling. The data analysis technique in this study uses the theory of Miles and Hubermen, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data in this study using a credibility test which includes: extension of observation, triangulation, and member check. Transferability test, depenability test, and confirmability test. Result and Discussions. The research results are; (1) The librarian competency development strategy is divided into two, namely formal and informal development. Formal development is in the form of: training, technical guidance, workshops, seminars, professional organizations, competitions for outstanding librarians and fostered areas for librarians. Meanwhile, informal librarian competency development includes: being a resource person or speaker, coordinating fellow librarians, networking, and relationships. (2) supporting factors in the implementation of librarian competency development include: motivation within the librarian itself and full support from the service and the Head of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul Service. While the inhibiting factors that need special attention are related to the budget for developing the competence of librarians and limiting quotas in an activity. Conclusions. The suggestion to be given for the strategy of developing the competence of librarians at the Office of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul is to maximize the available budget for developing the competence of librarians by being more selective in choosing the development activities to be carried out. And for librarians who have the opportunity to take part in training activities, seminars, workshops, technical guidance and other competency development, they can share their knowledge and knowledge with other librarians. Introduction. The material discussed in this journal is to explain and describe in detail the use of the classification system at the Regional Library of Lampung Province, what system is used, how it is used. Data Collection Methods. The method used in this journal research is interview research and documentation study. The author also uses qualitative methods and literature studies. Data Analysis. Analysis of the data using data reduction, data presentation, and make conclusions about the Regional Library of Lampung Province. Results and Discussion. The results of this study are that the Lampung Provincial Library Service uses 2 classification systems, namely a manual system and also a digital system with the E-DDC application. The librarian at the Lampung Provincial Library Service uses E-DDC edition 23, although using two classification systems, the librarian at the Lampung Provincial Library Service still uses a manual system more often because if you use a digital system with the E-DDC application the librarian sometimes has problems when use it, however, the use of the E-DDC application is still being used today. Conclusion. The use of the classification system in the Regional Library of Lampung Province uses two classification systems, namely the manual system and the E-DDC (Electronic-Dewey Decimal Classification) application. The manual system is still often used by librarians of the Lampung Province Regional Library, even so the E-DDC application is still used but rarely because sometimes it gets obstacles when you want to use it.

Intoduction. This research will discuss about students’ perceptions and expectations of the availability of e-journals in the animal husbandry faculty library Universitas Jambi. Data collection method. In this study will use a method that is quantitative. Data collection methods use are questionnaires, observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis data. This is the questionnaire in the study will use a likert scale. The population in this study amounted to 265 students and the sample used was 73 respondents. In the sample technique, the research will use a random sampling technique or random sample. Result and discussion. Then the 8 indicators of perception, and the average result show that the score is in good category with each indicator’s score, namely acceptance (2,62), evaluation (2,73), ease of access(2,8), diversity of e-journals(2,15), utilization (2,56), access (2,96), cost (2,57), and recency (1,83). As for the results of the study will show that the score on the overall perception and also the expectations of students in the availability of e-journals in the animal husbandry faculty library Universitas Jambi is 20,22:8= 2,52 on the scale 2,51-3,27. Conclusions. So, it can concluded that the overall perceptions and expectations of students in the availability of e-journals in the animal husbandry faculty library Universitas Jambi are good.

Introduction. Based on the results of the TIMSS and PIRLS survey obtained that the literacy ability of Indonesian students is in a state of concern, so one of the efforts made by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Education and Culture is by issating the School Literacy Movement (GLS). The School Literacy Movement is an effort made thoroughly to make the school as a learning organization whose citizens are literate throughout life through public involvement. The lack of awareness of students to read results in the urgency of literacy needing to be instilled from elementary school age. Research Method. This study used descriptive qualitative methods with the determination of the subject purposive sampling. Result and Discussion. The results showed that SD Negeri 131 Kota Jambi has a GLS strategy in instilling reading character that is done through three (3) stages, namely the habituation stage, development and learning stages. At the habituation stage to familiarize children to read without a bill, the development stage to form reading interests with non-academic bills and the learning stage with academic bills. The impact of GLS strategy in instilling the character of reading in students in State Elementary School 131 can be said that GLS activities begin to instill a favorite or penchant for reading seen from the feeling of pleasure to read, the need for students to read, the desire to always read, the act of finding reading and follow-up. Supporting factors in the implementation of GLS are the active role of all school residents, educator training, the role of parents of students in the form of book donation and involvement in literacy activities and support from outside parties, namely Tanoto foundation, mobile library and student participation in the Evergreen Reading House program. An inhibitory factor is the absence of a dedicated space for libraries as well as different students' reading interests. Efforts to overcome these obstacles are to make a corner of the library as a temporary replacement for the library and make reading angles in each class and the need for commitment of all parties in running literacy programs.

Introduction. The purpose of this study was to determine the literacy of the dancers of Pulau Temiang Village in accessing the Kelik Lang dance, to determine the dancers of Pulau Temiang Village in evaluating Kelik Lang dance and to determine the dancers of Pulau Temiang Village in using the Kelik Lang dance. Research methods. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Discussion result. The results of this study indicate that in accessing literacy the Kelik Lang dance is included in the Competent level of ability, in defining information needs, but it is still not very complete to know information about Kelik Lang dance both from the meaning and movements in the Kelik Lang dance. But some informants already know enough information about the Kelik Lang dance both from the motion and the meaning in the movement. In searching for information on the Kelik Lang dance, all informants are more dominant in getting information about the Kelik Lang dance more searching from the internet, the dancers from the Pulau Temiang Village in evaluating Kelik Lang dance literacy in the Competent level of ability, in assessing Kelik Lang dance information, using information and sharing the information they get to the community in Pulau temiang Village or outside the Village. The dancers have evaluated the information they have obtained from parents or dance teachers or the internet. In the information organization they have not categorized the information they are looking for. The dancers of Pulau Temiang Village in using the Kelik Lang dance enter the level of Proficient ability, in using information the dancers have presented/presented well, namely preparing with practice long before they perform, wearing uniform costumes, and also preparing musical instruments to accompany the dance. In communication and the use of information ethics, Kelik Lang dancers already understand the use of ethics in conveying Kelik Lang information, but Kelik Lang dancers have not disseminated and communicated information to other people or the public. Conclusions and suggestions. Based on the research that has been done about the literacy of the Kelik Lang dance in the wedding ceremony among dancers in the temiang island village, tebo ulu district, tebo district, Jambi province. In accessing information, dancers are expected to be more broad in seeking information from the media, evaluate information more thoroughly, carefully and more literately. Using information, dancers are expected to often communicate/socialize to others.

Introduction. This research is entitled Information Seeker Behavior of Blind Users in Braille Corner Services at the Jambi City Archives and Libraries Service, the purpose of this study is to determine the behavior of the blind in seeking information at the Jambi City Archives and Library Service. Information seeking behavior arises because of the need for information, so the higher the need for information, the higher the number of activities seeking information. Information behavior by users has its own pattern. Because each user will find the information they need differently, therefore the need for information is very important. From this difference, the writer is interested in studying "The Behavior of Information Seekers for the Braille Corner Service for Blind Users at the Jambi City Archives and Library Service". Data Collection Method. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method in the form of case study research. Informants in researching 3 people, informants were selected based on purposive sampling. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, in-depth interviews and documentation, the subjects in this study were blind users who visited the Braille Corner service. Data Analysis. Data analysis techniques in this study used data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Result and Discusions. The results obtained from the search for information on Braille Corner services for blind users at the Jambi City Archives and Library Service are strongly influenced by Braille Corner service officers. The type of information that is often accessed by blind users at the Jambi City Archives and Library Service is the printed collection of Braille. Information obtained by blind users is used for their respective interests and is used for different purposes.
