Abstract

The primary aim of this research is to incorporate the use of Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, and the Critical Thinking Method to enhance academic endeavors. Employing Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT in academic work offers advantages to educators and students. Although educators and students are still required to verify data and references independently, the use of Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT enables the quick and precise presentation of information. Therefore, it is essential to integrate the Critical Thinking methodology with the utilization of ChatGPT and Artificial Intelligence. Verifying and validating data improves the credibility of the knowledge acquired by both professors and students. The research methodology employed in this project involved library research, where the author collected primary and secondary data. Subsequently, content analysis methodology was applied, and the data was presented descriptively. The study results indicate that the implementation of Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, and the Critical Thinking method has enhanced the quality of academic work produced by educators and students. Furthermore, this combination can expedite the production of scholarly articles. When engaging in academic research, educators and students should adhere to the guidelines on Artifact Intelligence and ChatGPT policies.

Abstract

Evangelism in a multicultural context has become a primary concern in the mission of the modern church. In an effort to comprehend the dynamics involved in evangelism within multicultural environments, this research aims to identify the primary challenges faced by evangelists while also detailing the emerging opportunities in the endeavor to contextualize the message of the Gospel. Through an in-depth literature review in qualitative research, this study reveals the complexity of the multicultural context within the scope of evangelism. The main challenges encompass differences in religious beliefs, language disparities, and cultural tensions, all of which necessitate a prudent and adaptable approach. However, within these challenges, significant opportunities also arise. These opportunities include the formation of intercultural bridges, an improved understanding of religious pluralism, and the potential for collaboration among people of different faiths. The research findings emphasize the importance of contextualizing the Gospel message to establish an effective and meaningful approach within a multicultural context. This study provides valuable insights for churches and evangelists operating in multicultural environments, stimulating discussions about the role of contextualization in disseminating the message of the Gospel in an increasingly diverse society.

Abstract

Every church congregation is expected to have engagement in ministry. However, in reality, there are still many congregations that are not actively engaged. At Indonesian Baptist Church Immanuel Simolangit, Surabaya itself, some members are reluctant to participate in worship, resulting in a lack of engagement in ministry. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of spirituality on work engagement in ministry at Indonesian Baptist Church Immanuel Simolangit. The method used is quantitative research. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of spirituality on work engagement in ministry at Indonesian Baptist Church Immanuel Simolangit. The calculation of simple correlation between spirituality and work engagement in ministry found an R value of 0.810, which is positively correlated. This means that the strength of the relationship between spirituality and work engagement in ministry at Indonesian Baptist Church Immanuel Simolangit is 0.810, falling into the category of very high correlation.

Abstract

Generation Z constitutes 25.9% of the global population and 27.9% in Indonesia. They represent the first generation with the largest post-Christian figures, as they have departed from Christianity and the church. This is influenced by the rapid growth of apatheism, agnosticism, and pluralism in the modern era. The aim of this research is to determine whether apatheism, agnosticism and pluralism have affected the understanding of Generation Z, aged 18-26, in Java and Bali regarding local church life. This study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing questionnaires with 3,500 respondents representing the Generation Z population aged 18-26 in IFGF churches in Java and Bali. The research results indicate that there is a 41% simultaneous influence between apatheism, agnosticism, and pluralism on the understanding of church life among Generation Z. Specifically, apatheism exerts a 34.9% influence, agnosticism has a 10.2% impact, and pluralism holds a 39.5% influence on the understanding of church life among Generation Z. The conclusion drawn from these findings indicates that apatheism influences Generation Z to become indifferent to God and the church. Apatheism inhibits the beliefs of Generation Z in the absolute truth within Jesus, hindering church involvement. Pluralism leads Generation Z to stop sharing the gospel with others, citing the need to respect diverse beliefs. Therefore, the church and families need to collaborate in teaching and discipling Generation Z regarding a proper understanding of church life and the dangers of these ideologies.

Abstract

Shepherding has been an ongoing task throughout the history of the Church of God on Earth. From the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) until the rapture of the Church (1 Thess. 4: 13-18), the Church of the Lord will continue to exist on Earth, necessitating the shepherding of the church's ministers. This study seeks to assess the extent of the influence of collective leadership on the effectiveness of pastoral Ministry and church growth. In this research, the independent variable is "collective leadership" as studies often focus on single leadership. This quantitative study aims to provide empirical insights into the impact of applying collective leadership, as outlined in Ephesians 4:11-16, on the effectiveness of pastoral care and church growth. The variables examined in this study include collective leadership in Gereja Kristen Perjanjian Baru 'Masa Depan Cerah' Surabaya as variable X, the effectiveness of pastoral care as variable Y1, and congregation growth as variable Y2. The author adopts quantitative research methods and statistical calculations to draw conclusions. The direct impact of collective leadership (X) on congregation growth (Y2) is evident from the significant p2 value of 0.717, as indicated by a t count of 11.072 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This suggests that collective leadership (X) has a direct and significant effect on congregation growth (Y2). The total influence includes both direct and indirect influences (p1 + (p2 + p3). The total influence of collective leadership (X) on congregation growth (Y2) when mediated through pastoral care (Y1) amounts to 0.662 + 0.825, resulting in a total influence of 1.487.

Abstract

The younger generation is the future successor of leadership in God’s church. For this reason, it is necessary to prepare by conducting education from an early age. The research method used is qualitative research with theological studies by utilizing the Bible and literature according to the subject matter, then analyzed and presented descriptively. Thus, a true and strong foundation will be laid for the spiritual growth of the younger generation, so that they become like Christ to do God’s will in their time. The education of the younger generation includes the example of leaders, teaching God’s Word, fellowship with brothers and sisters and also involvement in ministry in the church and community. So that the church can be a witness for Christ throughout the ages.

Abstract

This study investigates the evolving interpretation of the relationship between David and Jonathan in the book of Samuel. Recent scholarship has sparked controversy by suggesting a possible homosexual connection between the two figures. This research challenges such interpretations by revisiting the concept of love (אהב) within ancient Near Eastern and biblical covenants, drawing on the foundational work of William Moran. Employing textual criticism and exegesis, the analysis focuses on the Hebrew terms חפץ and נעם used in 1 Samuel 19:1 and 2 Samuel 1:23, 26. By examining these terms alongside supporting evidence from the Hebrew Bible and ancient Aramaic texts, the study argues that these words carry primarily political connotations, signifying "delight" or "pleasantness" (חפץ) and "loveliness" or "beauty" (נעם), rather than romantic love. This novel interpretation reframes the understanding of David and Jonathan's bond, emphasizing its political significance within the broader narrative.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the level of awareness and readiness of final year Christian students in adopting a biblical-based exile lifestyle model. Two research questions and two hypotheses were proposed to guide this study. A descriptive survey research design was employed. The sampling technique used proportional multistage stratified random sampling method to obtain a sample size of 340 final year Christian students in State-owned colleges in Imo Province. The researcher-developed assessment scale titled "Christian Students' Awareness and Readiness Scale for Facing Life Challenges in Exile (CAPLCERS)" was utilized for data collection. This assessment scale comprises two clusters, A and B, with internal consistency reliabilities measured using Cronbach's Alpha of 0.78 and 0.82 respectively. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions, while z-test was employed to test hypotheses at a significance level of 0.05. The research findings indicate that the level of awareness among final year Christian students regarding life challenges in exile during the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is significantly below the expected average. Meanwhile, their readiness level to adopt biblical models for survival and growth in exile is significantly above the expected average. Based on these findings, the research recommends several actions: college authorities need to equip final year students with awareness of potential life challenges they may face during the one-year NYSC program; campus Christian fellowships also need to help prepare their members with biblical models and principles that can assist Christians in surviving and thriving in exile situations; and Christian fellowships or organizations in NYSC training camps need to assist Christian Corps members in integrating and striving for welfare in their placement areas while learning to love and contribute to the growth of communities that may differ in beliefs and cultures.

Abstract

The book of James reveals three purposes of Christian’s tribulation. First, it comes from the present argument: let his endurance have a perfect result which is you become mature and complete, and lack of nothing (1:4). The second purpose derives from the future argument: blessed the one who endures in the tribulation. Because, after these things, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him (1:12). The last purpose uses the past argument: He gave us birth with his true word so that we might become the first fruit amongst his all creations. This article analyses the second and the last purpose through a syntactical analysis.

Abstract

The study aims to explore the relationship between the role of the Christian Teacher of Education (PAK) according to Titus 2:6-8 and the character development of high school students in the Loa Janan Ilir region for the academic year 2023/2024. Using the method of correlation analysis, the findings showed a positive correlationship between the role of PAK teacher and student character development, even though the correspondence was low with a Pearson correlative coefficient of 0.249. The results of the analysis also indicated that only a small part of the variability in student character development can be attributed to the role of PAK teacher, with a determination coefficient (ry2) of 6.2%. The study also highlighted that the majority of variabilities in the character development of students (93.8%) are influenced by factors outside the scope of the study. However, the level of significance of the correlation factor found (0.05) indicates that there is a statistically significant relationship between the teacher's role and the student's character development. Thus, the study provides important insights into the role of PAK Teachers in shaping the character of high school students, while emphasizing the importance of considering other external factors that contribute to student character development
