Abstract

Students usually have difficulties in visualizing images that are caused by the lack of students’ conceptual understanding. We need learning which is able to help the students’ conceptual construction. One of them is by using technology in learning. This study aimed to develop students’ worksheets using a scientific approach based on GeoGebra for the eleven-grade of senior high school in Mataram-Indonesia. This study type was Research and Development (RD) using Plom model. The developed product was validated by experts and tested for its practicality by mathematics teachers and students. The quality of the product refers to the validity and effectiveness of the product. The results of expert validation and field try out indicated that the developed worksheet is valid and practical. The result of the research showed that students’ worksheet is valid and effective with validation average score is 4.44 and effective. The students’ average score is 86.84% (above the minimum standard) and the average of students' responses is 87.72% (positive category). It can be concluded that the developed worksheet can be used in the classroom

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is one of combinatorics optimation problem to find the possible shorthest path that can be obtained if a  salesman visit each city exactly once and return to the starting city. The shorthest path searching can be done by Cheapest Insertion Heuristics algorithm and Dynamic Programming. Each algorithm has different efficiency to find shorthest path. Algorithm efficiency is determined based on time complexity. Algorithm wich has the smallest time complexity is the most efficient algorithm. Based on the calculation result, the time complexity of Cheapest Insertion Heuristics algorithm is and Dynamic Programming is .  Therefore, for  Cheapest Insertion Heuristics Algorithm is more efficient algorithm than Dynamic Programming in TSP solving. Keywords : Traveling Salesman Problem, Cheapest Insertion Heuristics  Algorithm, Dynamic Programming, and Algorithm time complexity.

Abstract

AbstractBased on previous observations note that the ability of some students' mathematical communication is still lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to improve students' mathematical communication ability by using Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing mathematics learning through the Predict Observe Explanation (POE) learning model in an effort to improve students' communication skills. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of two cycles and each cycle is done with 4 stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study are students of class XI SMK Al Hikmah Garut. The results showed POE learning model can improve students' mathematical communication ability with the learning stages: 1) predict:  predicting the temporary answer of the given mathematical problem; 2) observe: observing other similar issues through teacher demonstrations; 3) explanation: presenting predictions and observations.Keywords: Mathematical Communication Skill, Predict Observe Explanation Learning Model

Abstract

The study aims to develop learning devices through an open-ended approach in square material. The learning devices developed consist of student modules and lesson plan (RPP). This study is the research, development model of Plomp with consist of three stages: preliminary research phase, prototype phase and assessment phase. Techniques of data collection that used were pretest and posttest questions, questionnaire  of expert validation and questionnaire of student response. The device developed was validated by three validators then conducted a limited trial. From the resulting validation data the average score of student module is 4.33 (valid), the average RPP score is 4.29 (valid). The validator statement against both learning devices developed is usable with little revision and without revision and the student's response to the learning device  was positive (practical). The increase of students ' creative thinking capability of N-Gain of 0.67 with moderate upgrade category. The results of the study were obtained that the device was developed is valid, practical, and can improve creative thinking ablity.

Abstract

This article examines the crelation between mathematical connection ability and self-regulated learning (SRL) mathematics students through the Learning Cycle 5E (LC 5E). In this case, the mathematical connection ability include aspects (1) Understanding the relationships between concepts or mathematical rules; (2) Implement the relationships between concepts or mathematical rules with topics other disciplines; and (3) Understanding the relationships between concepts or rules of mathematics with applications in everyday life. Indicators SRL mathematics include: (1) Demonstrate initiative in learning mathematics; (2) Diagnosing needs in learning mathematics; (3) Setting a target / goal of learning; (4) To monitor, regulate and control study; (5) Seeing difficulty as a challenge; (6) Utilize and search for relevant learning resources; (7) Choose and implement learning strategies; (8) Evaluate learning process and results; and (9) Self efficacy. LC 5E is a learning model that consists of five stages: (1) engagement, (2) exploration, (3) explanation, (4) elaboration, and (5) evaluation. This article is based on research conducted on 35 students of class VII one junior high school in West Bandung regency. The results show there is corelation between mathematical connection ability and SRL mathematics students. Students with high mathematical connection ability tend to have high SRL mathematics too and students with low mathematical connections ability tend to have low SRLmathematics too.Keywords: mathematical connection ability, self-regulated learning, learning cycle 5E

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan proses berpikir mahasiswa dalam membuat koneksi matematis pada soal pemecahan masalah. Koneksi matematis yang dimaksud pada penelitian ini adalah aktivitas yang dilakukan mahasiswa dalam menghubungkan antar konsep matematika dalam menyelesaikan soal pemecahan masalah. Tahapan penyelesaian masalah yang digunakan berdasarkan tahapan penyelesaian masalah menurut polya.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Pada penelitian ini tiga mahasiswa prodi pendidikan matematika UNIKU tingkat I dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian dengan rincian masing – masing satu mahasiswa berkemampuan rendah, sedang dan tinggi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan wawancara untuk mengetahui proses berpikir subjek dalam membuat koneksi matematis. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan proses koneksi subjek dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi sangat lengkap dan mampu mengaitkan beberapa konsep dalam matematika. Begitu juga subjek dengan kemampuan matematika sedang cukup lengkap dalam membuat koneksi matematika. Akan tetapi subjek S2 kurang mampu mengaitkan beberapa konsep dalam matematika. Sedangkan subjek dengan kemampuan matematika rendah tidak lengkap dalam membuat koneksi matematika. subjek S3 tidak mampu mengaitkan konsep dalam matematika serta tidak mampu menjelaskan dengan baik hasil jawaban yang diperoleh.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran geometri menggunakan aplikasi mobile Augmented Reality pada siswa ekstrovert dan introvert, untuk mengetahui penguasaan materi kubus dan balok pada siswa ekstrovert dan introvert. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan partisipan siswa kelas VIII SMPIT AL-IRSYAD AL-ISLAMIYYAH tahun pelajaran 2019/2020, dari partisipan penelitian tersebut diambil 4 siswa sebagai responden atau partisipan penelitian wawancara. Pemilihan responden tersebut dilakukan berdasarkan tipe kepribadian yang ditentukan melalui angket kepribadian dan informasi dari guru matematika yang sudah mengetahui lebih dulu kepribadian siswanya, dimana dua partisipan mewakili tipe kepribadian ekstrovert dan introvert. Berdasarkan analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan sebagai berikut: sebaran kepribadian siswa kelas VIII SMPIT AL-IRSYAD AL-ISLAMIYYAH didominasi oleh siswa yang memiliki kepribadian introvert. Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa ekstrovert dan introvert pada pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara berkelompok dan individu. Hal ini ditunjukkan bahwa dalam pembelajaran secara berkelompok siswa ekstrovert lebih unggul dari siswa introvert. Sedangkan secara individu, siswa introvert lebih unggul dari siswa ekstrovert.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to produce GeoGebra-based learning media of plane area concept that is valid, practical, and has good potential effects. This research use development research method or development research of formative research type which is simplified. Learning media development procedure in this research consists of 3 stages: 1) self evaluation, 2) prototyping (validation, evaluation and revision), 3) Field test. The results of research can be explained that: 1) the development of GeoGebra-based learning media of plane area concept in MTs Kab. Bandung valid based on contents, language, and conformity of context used and practical based on ease of use of students, 2) trials result of development of GeoGebra-based learning media of plane area concept given in MTs Kab. Bandung has a potential effect, namely: students love to learn with computer media, students love to learn with GeoGebra software, GeoGebra-based learning media of plane area concept helps students understand the area concept, learning media of area rectangular is most helpful to students understand the area concept.Keywords: learning media, GeoGebra, area, plane

Abstract

The aim of this study was determine the differences of the ability of mathematical creative thinking and the differences in the increase between classes using Problem Based Learning (control class) and the class that uses a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram. The research method used is quasi experimental design of non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII junior high school in Kuningan in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018.  Through purposive sampling technique, 2 classes of 10 classes were selected as samples where the class VIIA as the control class and VIIB as experimental class with a total sample of 70 students. Data collection techniques were obtained through mathematical creative thinking ability test and data analysis technique included normality test, homogeneity test, and t test. The results showed that there were difference in mathematical creative thinking ability and there were difference in the increase between the classes using Problem Based Learning and the classes using a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram.

Abstract

The subject of trigonometric equations is a learning material given to high school students majoring in Mathematics and Natural Sciences and also deepened in student lectures in the fields of science such as mathematics, engineering, informatics and others. The problem discussed in this study is that learning media is still needed to support learning trigonometric equations. The purpose of this research is to create a media for visual simulation of the results of trigonometric equation functions, namely the sine function with various equation models and by modifying the coefficient values in the equation. The results of this simulation are various curve images and are used as a choice of batik motifs. The research methodology uses mathematical modeling with trigonometric equations of sine functions. By changing some of the coefficients in the modification of the sine function, we get an interesting selection of images for batik patterns. The results of the study were in the form of a batik cloth motif design. This research can be used as an interesting learning medium on the subject of trigonometric equations and to addto the richness of various types of batik cloth motifs as an option for lovers of batik cloth art.
