Cakrawala: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan (P-ISSN:1858-4497, E-ISSN: 2549-9300) is a scholarly journal aimed to provide a platform for both established and early-career researchers. This journal accepts research-based papers from the fields of Teaching and Learning; Language and Literacy Education; and Applied Human Development in the Context of Schooling with submissions accepted throughout the year. It is published biannually, May and November, by Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, Indonesia. Papers are all subject to peer review before being accepted for inclusion. Contributions for future editions are welcome. Starting from Vol. 12 No. 1, Cakrawala has been accredited SINTA 3 by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Ristekdikti) of The Republic of Indonesia based on Director Decree No. 23/E/KPT/2019 dated 08 Agustus 2019. The Decree is as an achievement for the Peer-reviewed journal which has excellent quality in management and publication and is effective for 5 years until 2023.

Abstract

This experimental research employs true-experimental design with two-group design type (experimental group and control group) and takes 48 fourth-semester English Education students of the academic year 2017/2018 of the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Pancasakti University, Tegal as its samples, divided into 2 (two) groups: experiment group with 24 students and control group with 24 students. The research employs t-test for effectiveness test as its data analysis technique. The research results show that the usage of Google Drive based learning model effectively improves students’ essay writing skill. The Google Drive based learning media can be applied to academic writing learning process, particularly essay, however, its practice requires intensive interaction between students and lecturer.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan bukti empiris mengenai: 1) expo kewirausahaan dapat membangkitkan minat berwirausaha mahasiswa, 2) expo kewirausahaan dapat membangkitkan pembentukan karakter kemandirian, 3) expo kewirausahaan secara simultan dapat membangkitkan minat berwirausaha dan pembentukan karakter kemandirian. Jenis penelitian ini asosiatif kausal dan dilaksanakan di Program Studi Pendidikan Ekonomi FKIP, Universitas Pancasakti Tegal. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian populasi dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 67 mahasiswa yang sudah mengikuti mata kuliah praktik kewirausahaan. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Uji validitas dan reliabilitas digunakan sebagai uji instrumen. Uji normalitas, uji homogenitas varian dan homogenitas varian menjadi prasyarat kualitas data, sedangkan manova digunakan sebagai uji hipotesisnya. Instrumen valid sebanyak 43 butir dengan reliabilitas masuk dalam kriteria cukup-tinggi. Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan hasil bahwa nilai signifikansi variabel XY1 sebesar 0,882 dan nilai signifikansi variabel XY2 sebesar 0,711. Dengan demikian dapat dinyatakan bahwa data residual berdistribusi normal. Hasil uji Levene menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi minat berwirausaha sebesar 0,576 dan signifikansi karakter kemandirian sebesar 0,457. Nilai keduanya >0,05 maka dapat dikatakan bahwa Y1 dan Y2 memiliki varian yang homogen, sehingga manova bisa dilanjutkan. Dilihat dari signifikansi Box’s M sebesar 0,227. Artinya nilai tersebut tidak signifikan atau > 0,05, sehingga covarian dinyatakan sama dan analisis maova dapat dilanjutkan. Hasil uji manova menyatakan bahwa: 1) expo kewirausahaan dapat membangkitkan minat berwirausaha mahasiswa, 2) expo kewirausahaan dapat membangkitkan karakter kemandirian mahasiswa, 3) minat berwirausaha dan karakter kemandirian mahasiswa dapat dibangkitkan melalui expo kewirausahaan

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the establishment history of Benteng Pendem Cilacap and understand the function switch of it from the beginning until now. The central question of this study asks how is the function switch of Benteng Pendem from time to time. Therefore, historical method was applied in order to answer the question. Data for this research were collected using four stages: heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historical writing. The result showed that at first, Benteng Pendem was designed for military design of the Dutch-Indian government. However, at this current development, it was used for several function: 1) during the Japanese occupation, it was used as a military defense headquarters by Japanese soldier; 2) during the Indonesian independence, it was used as a place to practice for war and sea landing by the Indonesian national army (TNI) Banteng Loreng in Central Java; 3) at this time, Benteng Pendem Cilacap is one of Indonesia’s educational and historical excursion.

Abstract

Procrastination is the behavior of delaying work, which directly affects employee performance. Employee performance is seen from the results of their work in quality and quantity in accordance with the duties and responsibilities given to them. The purpose of this study was to increase community satisfaction with the performance of kelurahan employees in the sub-district of Tegal Timur. The method that will be used in achieving the goal is the mix method. The use of data qualitatively by using case studies, then carried out a quantitative approach that was used as a calculation of the scale of work procrastination and the performance of kelurahan employees in the sub-district of Tegal Timur. Within a period of six months it was expected that there had been a change in the performance of the kelurahan employees in Tegal Timur sub-district through Rational Emotive techniques and Cognitive Behavior, the data obtained could represent the performance conditions of kelurahan employees in Tegal Timur sub-district. The level of community satisfaction with the performance of kelurahan employees in Tegal Timur sub-district increased by 5%.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore inference strategies necessary read journal article. Forty four English students read set of text on education text and answer comprehension question. The two main objectives in this study were to identify inference skills necessary to comprehend a research article in terms of the main ideas, the writing styl e/tone and other text-based elements such as lexical items, syntaxes well as discourse structures and to investigate inference strategies for coping with text. Twenty five of these participants also volunteered for an in depth interview. The findings revealed that students usually relied on their bottom up processing. They skipped difficult parts, especially technical information graphic illustration. They sought help from friends to enhance their understanding. Overall, they were successful at interpreting the thesis statement, the gist of section, the meaning of the tested words and clause. However, they were less able to infer the underlying argument, the tone of article, and the attitudes of other toward the research finding

Abstract

Learning (PBL) model in teaching Listening. Sample was fourth semester students of Universitas Pancasakti Tegal. The research instruments were documentation (recording) and questionnaire. Recording was used to explain the implementation of PBL model in teaching Listening. While questionnaire was used to find out students’ respond. Researchers analysed the result of recording based on the steps of implementing PBL model. Moreover, to analyse the questionnaire data, researchers used table and percentage of students’ responds of agreement level toward the implementation of PBL model in Listening class. The result of recording explored steps of implementing PBL model i.e.: (1) deciding a topic of lesson, (2) making group, (3) doing tasks, (4) planning a presentation, (5) performing a presentation, and (6) evaluation. The result of questionnaire showed the positive respond of implementing PBL model in Listening class with the students’ respond level was 90,5%. According to data, it could be concluded that PBL model could be applied in Listening class.

Abstract

The Kapita Selekta course is a course that is intended for fifth semester students (five). The course is a very complex subject because the content and essence of the course discusses all in Indonesian. The purpose of this study is to describe the pattern of making semi-scientific article titles in the Indonesian language course and to describe the economics of making titles in semi-scientific articles on Kapita Selekta courses in the 5th semester of the Indonesian Education Study Program at the Pancasakti University in Tegal.Based on the analysis carried out there are results that have been presented, namely the element of economics which includes four aspects which can be seen from the percentage that has been calculated. Aspect of misinformation 40%, superordinate hypernim 32%, plural words 24% and repetition of subjects 4%. It is seen that those who occupy the element of non-health in the title of semi-scientific articles in the Indonesian selective course, namely aspects of the use of synonyms, occur because the author wants to emphasize the idea that the titles written or chosen can attract readers, but because synonymy and diction are lacking accordingly it should be avoided, for the good of the reader in understanding the reading title.

Abstract

The demands in the Final Project for Diploma students are to carry out the research process correctly in accordance with the applicable rules without having to find and correct theories that have less readiness for students to face the final project, 2) the low motivation of students to complete on time, 3) lack of substance of information (seminars, workshops) related to hardware for students who take the hardware theme, 4) student learning reference sources are only fixated on the lecturers, 5) student environment that does not support to finish the final project such as the influence of friends, lack of family encouragement, and finance. This study aims to determine the influence of curriculum, motivation and the ability to write scientific papers on the completion of the final project (TA) of DIII Computer Engineering students. This research is quantitative research by testing the normality test, correlation test, simple linear regression test and multiple linear regression test. With the results of the study showed the influence of the relationship of motivation (X1), study program curriculum (X2), the ability to write scientific papers (X3) together on the completion of the student's final assignment (Y) of 88.5%. Partially, the influence of motivation factor (X1) is 48.1%, study program curriculum (X2) is 75.7%, and the ability to write scientific work (X3) is 40.9%. The regression equation is Y = -1.344 + 0.854 X_1 + 1.400 X_2 + 0.722 X_3.

Abstract

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, komunikasi antar pribadi akan selalu terjadi tak terkecuali di lingkungan kampus. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan model bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik outbound yang efektif untuk meningkatkan komunikasi antar pribadi mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D), desain penelitian one group pretest and posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model bimbingan kelompok teknik outbound untuk meningkatkan komunikasi antar pribadi mahasiswa yang efektif dikembangkan melalui 10 komponen dan lebih menekankan pada tahap kegiatan melalui the briefing dalam bentuk focus discussion. Kesimpulan bahwa layanan bimbingan kelompok mempunyai peran penting dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi antar pribadi mahasiswa terutama dengan teknik outbound sehingga perlu dikembangkan lagi dengan ide-ide yang lebih kreatif agar bisa digeneralisasikan.

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to test learning model development based multimedia to improve the effectiveness of students’ reading comprehension, this issue was crucial due to the improvement of students’ reading comprehension would help students achievement follow the development of the world in the field of science and technology, considering that most scientific works in the field of science and technology were released in English. The participants of this study were students of the English Language Education program. This study used a true experimental research design with pre-test post-test one group design, with stages covering preparation, implementation, and reporting. The result of the study is that the multimedia-based learning model is effective for improving students' reading comprehension.
