Abstract

This research aims to reveal how important the position of the state is in managing zakat funds. Little research has been conducted on the repositioning of the state after the state established a representative amil body. The recognition of individual amil was made legal in the Constitutional Court decision in 2012, in addition to the National Amil Zakat Agency as a representation of state amil, private institutions, and individual amil. However, the intervention of state amil is eroding in reality and experiencing a crisis of trust in the community. This reality is worrying, considering that state amil is very urgent and is wajibat al-manziliyah in the management of zakat. Therefore, by using a library research approach (literature research) and emphasizing gronder theory-based content analysis, this research produces important findings, namely first, in the responsibility of Sultan al-ijtimaiyah, the state has full authority to ensure justice in the management of zakat. Second, the state is positioned as ahlu al-halli wa al-'aqdi to make policies and provide sanctions with the intention of management (collection, management, and distribution) of zakat running optimally, and third, the state has mainstreaming in the management of zakat, as an authority that has policies, decisions and rule makers.

Abstract

Indicator Muslim Friendly Tourism (MFT) partially has a significant effect on the number of foreign tourists in ASEAN countries. The MFT indicator is selected from the variables Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) published by Mastercard-CrescentRating every year. Of the six MFT indicators, three have a significant effect, namely the Muslim Variable-Friendly Airports (X3) with a probability value of 0.002 or 0.2%, Heritage Experiences and Attractions (X4) probability value of 0.025 or 2.5%, and availability of Prayer Places and Mosques, Availability of Halal Dining Options (X6) with a probability value of 0.000. Of the three selected GMTI variables, the probability value is smaller than 5%. The MFT indicator simultaneously also influences foreign tourist visits. The test results together obtained a probability value smaller than 0.05, namely 0.0000. Meanwhile, the results of the coefficient of determination test for the equation obtained an adj R-squared value of 0.5425, which means that the 6 independent variables selected can influence the number of foreign tourists by 54.25% and the remainder is influenced by other factors outside the selected variables.

Abstract

Economic growth is expected to impact income inequality reduction and poverty alleviation. The diversity of economic sectors raises fundamental questions about which sectors can effectively reduce poverty through potential sectors. The economy of Aceh has experienced significant growth, particularly in key or leading sectors, yet the population of Aceh remains trapped in poverty. This study aims to analyze the impact of key sectors on poverty in the Province of Aceh. This research employs a quantitative method using a panel data analysis model without selecting the best model. The results of this study indicate that, simultaneously, key sectors have a significant negative impact on poverty in Aceh. However, on a partial basis, only the trade, transportation, government, and health sectors have a significant negative correlation with poverty in Aceh. Conversely, the agriculture, trade, and real estate sectors do not affect poverty in Aceh.

Abstract

This paper examines the critical global issues of food insecurity and food waste, with a specific focus on Indonesia, a country that ranks second among the top 25 contributors to food waste. Despite being a significant contributor to global food waste, Indonesia faces a paradoxical challenge of widespread hunger, with millions of its population experiencing food insecurity. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlight the urgent need for awareness and action to reduce food waste, yet empirical research on food waste behavior, particularly at the household level in Indonesia, remains scarce. Existing studies predominantly utilize theoretical frameworks such as the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to analyze food waste behavior, though these are primarily exploratory in nature. This paper identifies a gap in empirical research and presents an opportunity to investigate food waste behavior in Indonesia using contextual data. Drawing on the perspective of social marketing, the paper also reviews recent studies, including those by Kim et al. (2020), which explore the effectiveness of social marketing programs in promoting food waste reduction. Furthermore, it considers the role of emotional factors, such as gratitude, in influencing consumer behavior toward food waste, as discussed in research by Septianto et al. (2020). The paper concludes by highlighting the potential policy instruments and interventions suggested by Principato et al. (2021) that can contribute to reducing food waste at the consumer level. Through this conceptual framework, the paper aims to foster greater understanding of food waste issues in Indonesia and provide insights for future empirical research and policy development.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of natural resource revenue sharing funds (DBH SDA) and investment on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) through regional spending in the East Kutai Regency. This study aims to assess how these variables affect regional economic development, focusing on the role of government spending in mediating the influence. Using path analysis with multiple linear regression modeling, this study analyzes time series data. The results show that DBH SDA has a significant positive effect on regional spending, which means that increasing revenue from natural resources will encourage an increase in regional spending. In contrast, investment does not show a significant effect on regional spending, indicating the fluctuating nature and delayed impact of investment on regional development. Furthermore, both DBH SDA and investment have a direct effect on GRDP, with investment having a positive effect, while DBH SDA has a negative effect. Regional spending has a positive effect on GRDP, indicating the importance of government spending efficiency in driving economic growth. This study suggests that although DBH SDA directly affects regional spending, its effect on GRDP is more mediated by government spending, while investment has a more direct impact on regional economic growth. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers in East Kutai Regency to optimize resource allocation and investment strategies to achieve sustainable economic development.
