Abstract

This research was motivated by the initial finding that many students were not yet able to correctly write numbers and represent monetary values. To address this issue, learning was designed using the role-playing method as a pedagogical strategy. The main goal was to improve writing skills in Indonesian language—with a focus on introducing numbers and the concept of monetary value—through the implementation of role-playing in the classroom. The study was conducted using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach to gather data on improving learning practices as well as enhancing the quality of teacher and student performance, in terms of professional, knowledge, and skill aspects. The assessment results show that the students' average score in the pre-cycle stage was 58.45; after the Cycle I intervention, it increased to 81.59; and in Cycle II, it reached 89.09. These findings demonstrate that the students' initial ability was below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM), but there was a significant increase in achievement in both action cycles.

Abstract

Marriage is one of the essential aspects of human life, established in accordance with religious law (sharia). However, its implementation is often influenced by the traditions and customs prevailing in the local community. Customs are a key component that reflects the cultural identity of a society. As ancestral heritage, they function not only as a guide for social life but also as a means to strengthen communal bonds. One such tradition that continues to be practiced today is the pingitan tradition in Krenceng Village, Kepung District, Kediri Regency. Based on this context, the researcher raises the following questions: What is the concept of the pingitan custom in the tradition of the Krenceng Village community? What are the challenges and solutions in preserving the pingitan tradition in today’s modern era? And how does Islamic law view the pingitan custom as part of the marriage process prior to the marriage contract (akad nikah)? The objectives of this research are: to explore the concept of pingitan in the local tradition of Krenceng Village; to identify the challenges and solutions in maintaining the pingitan tradition in the modern era; and to examine the Islamic legal perspective on the practice of pingitan prior to the marriage contract. The findings indicate that pingitan, although not regulated by formal customary law, is still practiced by the community as it is considered important for preserving the dignity and purity of the bride-to-be, as well as serving as a period of spiritual and psychological preparation. This tradition now faces challenges from modernization, shifting values, and increasing female participation in the public sphere. As a solution, its implementation is being adapted with an emphasis on educational, spiritual, and symbolic aspects to maintain its relevance. From the perspective of Islamic law, pingitan is not obligatory but may be accepted as ‘urf shahih (valid custom) if it aligns with sharia principles, does not cause undue hardship, and brings benefit (maslahah). This tradition aligns with the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah) as long as it is practiced proportionally.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to language learning methods, including Arabic. This study aims to analyze the use of interactive video media as an innovation in Arabic language learning in the digital age, as well as its impact on student motivation and learning outcomes. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method conducted at MA Al-Fatah Badas, with the subject being the 10th-grade class. Data was collected through observation, interview and documentation then analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that the use of interactive video enhances student engagement, facilitates understanding of the material, and fosters interest in learning Arabic. Interactive features such as quizzes, reflective questions, and learning path options provide a more participatory and personalized learning experience. Challenges identified include limited digital literacy among some teachers and insufficient technological facilities at the school. Thus, interactive videos can serve as an innovative solution to optimize Arabic language learning, particularly when supported by teacher training and adequate infrastructure.

Abstract

Ijma’, one of the sources of Islamic law in the study of ushul fiqh, plays an important role in establishing sharia law, especially in cases where the Qur'an and Hadith do not provide a direct explanation of the issue. This article also discusses the position of ijma’ as the third source of law after the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as its importance to keep pace with the changes that have occurred in the lives of Muslims throughout history. In this article, a qualitative descriptive approach will be used to explain the different types of ‘ijma’, the requirements needed for it to be valid, and examples that can be applied in the context of rulings. Ijma’ not only demonstrates the intellectual agreement of the mujtahids but also shows the richness and flexibility of Islamic methods that respond to the challenges of the times while maintaining the basic values of the religion. This study aims to explain the position of ijma’ as a source of Islamic law after the Qur'an and Hadith, and to explain its forms, conditions, and relationship with meeting the legal needs of Muslims at various times. Since ijma’ is an important tool for maintaining the continuity and relevance of Islamic law in various social, cultural, and historical contexts, understanding ijma’ well is essential for building a flexible Islamic legal framework that remains grounded in the integrity of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of spiritual resilience from the perspective of the Qur'an and construct its conceptual model through a thematic Qur'anic approach (tafsir maudhu’i) combined with grounded theory. The primary research questions are: how does the Qur'an portray spiritual resilience? What values form its foundation? And how are these values interrelated in constructing a Qur'anic framework of spiritual resilience? This research employs a qualitative-exploratory method with data derived from selected Qur'anic verses concerning inner strength, life trials, and spiritual empowerment. The analysis was conducted through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding to develop a substantive theory grounded in scriptural texts. Findings reveal that Qur'anic spiritual resilience is built upon values such as ṣabr (patience), tawakkul (trust in God), husnuzhan (positive assumption), gratitude (syukr), and acceptance (ridha), which together form a cyclical pattern of spiritual growth. Qur’anic resilience is not passive, but active and transformative, positioning suffering as a path to spiritual maturity. The resulting model can serve as a foundation for developing Islamic counseling, character education, and Qur'an-based spiritual therapy

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Game Book media based on the Giving Question and Getting Answer (Q&A) model in improving student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Sumberrejo, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the use of Game Book Q&A media has a positive impact on increasing students' engagement and understanding of the subject matter on rukhsah. The media integrates engaging visual elements with an active learning approach, encouraging students to ask and answer questions, thereby creating a fun, communicative, and participatory learning environment. Students are not merely passive recipients but are actively involved in thinking, discussing, and expressing their ideas independently. The success of this implementation is supported by several factors such as teacher creativity in designing the media, high student enthusiasm, availability of supporting facilities, and the relevance of the material to daily life. Nevertheless, there are challenges that need attention, including varying levels of digital literacy, limited instructional time, and difficulties in maintaining classroom focus and effective interaction. Overall, the Game Book Giving Question and Getting Answer media has great potential to be further developed as an innovative and inspiring learning method in religious education at schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the educational philosophy of Ki Hajar Dewantara and its relevance to strengthening character education in the modern era. Ki Hajar Dewantara viewed education as a process of shaping the whole human being, encompassing cognitive, emotional, and moral dimensions—expressed through the unity of cipta (thought), rasa (feeling), karsa (will), and karya (action). Education, according to him, should not focus solely on intellectual development but also nurture noble character and moral values essential for social life. Through his well-known motto “Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa, Tut Wuri Handayani,” he emphasized the educator’s role as a role model, motivator, and supporter in the learning process. This approach aligns with the principles of character education, which stress the importance of attitude and ethical development. In the midst of globalization and technological advancement, Ki Hajar Dewantara’s thoughts remain highly relevant in addressing the moral crisis and character decline faced by the younger generation. This research uses a qualitative approach through literature review to explore the character values embedded in his philosophy and their implementation in the current education system. The findings indicate that character education based on Ki Hajar Dewantara’s philosophy can serve as a strong foundation for nurturing a generation with integrity, noble morals, and love for the nation.

Abstract

This study aims to construct and describe the neo-Sufism teachings of KH. Abdul Hannan Ma’sum at the Fathul ‘Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Kwagean, Kediri Regency. Neo-Sufism, as proposed by Fazlur Rahman, is a renewed form of Sufism that not only emphasizes individual spirituality but also encourages social activism and positive engagement in worldly life. This research employs a qualitative approach using phenomenological-hermeneutic methods, along with data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document studies. The findings reveal that KH. Abdul Hannan Ma’sum’s neo-Sufism teachings are manifested through three main methods: bandongan (collective study, particularly of the Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din), exemplary behavior and advice (mau’izah), and the granting of spiritual practices (ijazah amaliyah) to students. The core values imparted include a strong enthusiasm for learning and seeking knowledge, hard work and spiritual striving (mujahadah), patience and perseverance (istiqamah), strengthening of liturgical recitations and remembrance (wirid and dhikr), economic self-sufficiency, a life of asceticism despite abundance, as well as social concern and generosity. These teachings shape a contextual pesantren-based Sufism that responds to contemporary challenges without abandoning the roots of classical Islamic scholarship. Thus, KH. Abdul Hannan Ma’sum successfully actualized the principles of neo-Sufism within the educational system and social praxis of the pesantren. His teachings not only form the spiritual character of the students but also encourage their active and meaningful participation in social life.

Abstract

The study of Ilmu Falak (Islamic Astronomy) in Indonesia is often dominated by male figures, both in determining religious law (fatwa) and its practice. This article analyzes the role of Women Scholars (Ulama Perempuan - UP) as a bridge (mediator) between the perspective of pure science (astronomy) and the view of Sharia (astronomical fiqh - fikih falak), particularly in contemporary issues such as the criteria for Hisab-Rukyat (calculation-sighting) and the Global Hijri Calendar. Using a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis of fatwas and the views of Indonesian female Falak figures (e.g., female Falak academics, members of the Lajnah Falakiyah - Astronomical Board), this study finds that Women Scholars tend to adopt an Integrative-Contextual approach. Women Scholars play a crucial role in reducing the tension of the Hisab-Rukyat conflict, positioning the consideration of social welfare (maslahat) (socio-astronomical aspects) alongside mathematical accuracy, and encouraging a gender equality perspective in the public space of Falak. The contributions of Women Scholars ensure that the Falak discourse remains relevant, moderate, and inclusive amid technological advancements and modernity.
