Abstract

This study intends to analyze the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and its impact on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in English at Islamic Middle School. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This research was conducted at the Islamic Middle School As'adiyah Putra Sengkang. Data analysis was carried out using Michael Fullan's theory of educational change and Deci & Ryan's Self-Determination Theory (SDT) as a theoretical framework. The findings of the study indicate that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at the madrasah has entered a solid implementation stage and is starting to move towards institutionalization. Teachers carry out differentiated learning, provide assignment choices, and create a learning environment that supports students' autonomy, competence, and social connectedness. As a result, students experience improved learning outcomes that cover three main domains: a) Cognitive domain: increased critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and in-depth conceptual understanding through contextual tasks and authentic assessments; b) Affective domain: the growth of intrinsic learning motivation, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility for the learning process; c) Psychomotor domain: the development of presentation skills, collaborative work, and the production of creative work in various learning projects. This study recommends the need to strengthen teacher capacity and provide institutional support to maintain the consistent and sustainable implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Physics learning on Newton's Laws often focuses only on the cognitive aspect, thus under-emphasizing the character and spiritual values of students. In fact, a comprehensive education should foster students holistically, encompassing intellectual, social, and religious aspects. This study intends to systematically examine the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in physics learning as a pedagogical strategy that not only improves students' understanding of Newton's Laws but also shapes their Islamic character. This study uses a systematic literature review method with the PRISMA approach, which involves the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of 125 articles from various databases (Google Scholar, DOAJ, Scopus, etc.), until 30 relevant articles from the last 10 years are selected. The results of the study indicate that PjBL can improve students' conceptual understanding through contextual and collaborative project activities. In addition, PjBL is also effective in fostering character values such as responsibility, cooperation, and honesty, and it can be integrated with Islamic values through a thematic and reflective approach. In conclusion, the application of PjBL in physics learning improves students' cognitive quality and serves as an effective means of forming Islamic character. This study recommends the development of teaching tools that explicitly integrate PjBL with Islamic values.

Abstract

The problem identified in this study stemmed from the condition of science learning, which remained limited to the learning model and media used, resulting in less effectiveness in developing creativity. Therefore, this study was conducted to test the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) approach using Geospatial Information System Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) media in improving students' creative thinking skills. This study used a mixed-methods design with an embedded experimental model, where the data collection techniques were carried out through pre-research interviews, pretests and posttests, questionnaires, and interviews after the intervention. The research sample consisted of second-semester students from class VIII at Public Junior High School 1 Weru. We processed the data using normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-Gain tests. The results showed a significant increase in creative thinking skills in the experimental class. The improvement was evidenced by the results of the average pretest score of 66.32, then the posttest increased to 90.44, with a very significant difference compared to the control class. The N-Gain test also recorded improvements, with an average score of 0.69 in the moderate category. This finding is reinforced by qualitative data from questionnaires and interviews, which showed a very positive response from students to the GeoAI-assisted PjBL-STEAM model, achieving an average score of 75.99% out of a maximum score of 100%.

Abstract

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often have difficulty understanding abstract concepts such as numbers, requiring interactive and concrete learning media. This study analyzed the systematic thinking, or algorithmic processes, of children with autism spectrum disorder as they solved complex Sudoku puzzles. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, three students with different levels of functioning at extraordinary school C TPA Jember were observed. This study used a 4x4 dot Sudoku game with pictures as a more easily understood learning medium. Data analysis was conducted by comparing data from the work results, visual documentation, and field notes. Data analysis used an interactive qualitative approach based on Miles and Huberman. The results indicated that picture Sudoku can support the algorithmic thinking of children with ASD, although the level of success varies based on individual abilities. Students with lower functional levels require full guidance, but students with higher functional levels lack sufficient independence and problem-solving skills. The conclusion of this study is that picture Sudoku has proven to be an effective tool for improving the algorithmic thinking of children with autism, highlighting the importance of concrete and adaptive learning media.

Abstract

This article is driven by the necessity for a learning approach that enhances students' cognitive capacities while simultaneously cultivating spiritual character and understanding of increasingly intricate global environmental challenges. The research employs a descriptive qualitative methodology utilizing a literature review approach. Data were acquired from pertinent national and international journal articles published from 2015 to 2025. The findings indicate that the application of the problem-based learning model in physics education enhances students' cognitive dimensions while also cultivating scientific attitudes and 21st-century competencies, including conceptual comprehension, problem-solving skills, critical and creative thinking, and scientific process skills. The subject of global warming is intrinsically linked to fundamental concepts of physics and enhances students' ecological consciousness, particularly in addressing global challenges like the climate catastrophe. Moreover, the incorporation of Islamic principles in physics instruction regarding global warming adds a spiritual dimension that enhances the scientific learning experience. Values such as integrity, leadership, moderation, and ethical stewardship of nature render education not solely the conveyance of knowledge but also the cultivation of a comprehensive character. Islamic doctrines promoting environmental conservation can foster a collective consciousness on the significance of safeguarding the land as a trust from God. The integration of problem-based learning (PBL) with Islamic ideals in the study of global warming is a comprehensive and transformative methodology that enhances students' academic proficiency while simultaneously cultivating their spiritual, social, and ecological character.

Abstract

Linguistic politeness is a fundamental manifestation of a person's character, reflected in everyday communicative interactions. Linguistic politeness plays a vital role in shaping students' social and spiritual identities. Understanding how linguistic politeness functions as an indicator of students' religious character in the digital era, which is full of challenges to traditional values, is urgently needed. Therefore, this study aims to examine the phenomenon of Indonesian language politeness as a reflection of students' religious character in higher education. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study involved 40 students at As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic University from various faculties. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of written communication documents. The findings indicate that students' linguistic politeness reflects the internalization of Islamic values using politeness formulas, the selection of appropriate diction, and communication patterns that respect social hierarchy. Factors shaping politeness include the religious environment of the campus, lecturer guidance, and the still-strong tradition of Islamic boarding schools. This study contributes to the development of a pragmatic theory of politeness in the context of Islamic higher education and provides practical recommendations for student character development.

Abstract

The ongoing prevalence of bullying among phase F students, which affects their psychological and learning processes, motivates this research. The purpose of this research is to develop a co-curricular model based on Islamic religious education in the form of additional learning manuals to reduce bullying behavior and foster positive character in students. This research uses the research and development method (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects are phase F students and Islamic Religious Education teachers, while the research object is in the form of co-curricular guidebook products. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, with qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis. The results of the study indicated that bullying practices in schools appeared in physical (hitting) and verbal (mocking and disruptive) forms. The co-curricular handbook products developed have undergone validity and practicality tests, yielding average results of 85.50% (very valid) and 87.50% (efficient), indicating that they are suitable for use. Thus, the development of an Islamic religious education-based co-curricular model can be an effective strategy for suppressing bullying practices while contributing to the formation of students' character and enriching Islamic educational literature.

Abstract

This research is based on the urgency of strengthening life skills in madrasahs so that graduates excel academically and adapt to contemporary socio-techno-economic challenges. This study intends to analyze life skills-based leadership strategies to improve the quality of State Elementary Madrasah 01 Luwu and identify obstacles and their solutions. The design used is qualitative-descriptive with purposive selection of informants (madrasah principals, teachers, and students); data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, and their credibility was tested through triangulation and member checks. The findings show leadership strategies that combine transformational, participatory, and situational characters—including teacher empowerment through training/collaboration, integration of life skills into the curriculum and contextual activities (e.g., “Cheerful Friday Market” and morning talk), and strengthening a character-oriented school culture. These strategies contribute to increased student self-confidence, discipline, responsibility, and participation, which impacts the quality of learning. The main obstacles include limited human resources and facilities, diverse parental support, a dense curriculum, and substandard life skills evaluations. Life skills-based leadership is effective in improving madrasah quality when implemented systematically, integrating curriculum, teacher development, school culture, and partnerships. Practical implications include the need for standardized life skills evaluations, teacher capacity building, and resource support. Further research is recommended to test this model comparatively across madrasahs and develop validated life skills assessment instruments.

Abstract

The Duha prayer in schools is a tangible kind of character education that shapes kids' personalities and morals. These ideals must be instilled early in education, especially in elementary school. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Duha prayer program at Public Elementary School, using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. This study was conducted at Public Elementary School Baebunta District, North Luwu Regency. This qualitative study is descriptive-evaluative, with data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, students, and parents. The results of the study indicate that (1) context: the Duha prayer program strengthens the religious character of students and is supported by school policies and the surrounding environment; (2) input: facilities and infrastructure are still limited, such as the lack of a special prayer room, but Islamic religious education teacher resources are adequate; (3) process: implementation is carried out routinely through the habit of two rakaat, joint prayer, and direct guidance by teachers; and (4) product: activities contribute positively to student discipline and habituation of worship, although parental involvement at home still needs to be improved. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the Duha prayer at Public Elementary School Baebunta District is going well, despite limited facilities and environmental support that still need improvement. Recommendations are directed at improving prayer facilities, coordinating with parents, and developing more varied strategies for habituating prayer.
