Abstract

This study intends to assess how the principal implements academic supervision to enhance teacher performance in elementary schools. The primary objective of this study is to provide recommendations to schools regarding the implementation of supervision, whether there are aspects that need to be stopped, improved, or continued without changes. Secondary objectives include evaluation of the design, installation, process, and product of the supervision implementation. This study uses an evaluative approach with the Discrepancy Evaluation Model (DEM), which emphasizes identifying gaps between standards (Standard/S) and actual performance (Performance/P) in each implementation stage. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. In this study, the research subjects were the principal, vice principal, 18 teachers, 30 students, and 6 school committee members. The evaluation results show that at the design stage of supervision there are still gaps between standards and performance, especially in the systematic and realistic aspects, so that it is in the "Good" category. The installation stage, implementation process, and supervision product all demonstrate full conformity between standards and performance, resulting in a "Very Good" rating. Overall, the implementation of supervision is in the "Good" category.

Abstract

Although the development of learning media based on RPG (Role-Playing Game) and spatial geometry materials in junior high school already exists, this research deeply integrates the typical features of RPG (such as adventure narrative, quest, inventory, leveling system, and immersive visual/audio design) to visualize and manipulate spatial geometry concepts (such as surface area, volume, and nets) which are often considered abstract by junior high school students. This study was conducted to develop and examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a learning medium in the form of an RPG (Role-Playing Game) for teaching three-dimensional geometry to eighth-grade students at public junior high school 5 Tarakan. The research employed Research and Development (R&D) design, following the Four-D development model consisting of four phases: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The evaluation process of the RPG Maker product was carried out through four stages: expert validation (content, media, and instructional design experts), preliminary field testing, main field testing, and operational field testing. The analysis results showed that the developed RPG game media obtained scores of 32 for feasibility, 51 for appearance and design, and 32 for accuracy, currency, and clarity — all of which were categorized as very good. Field test results further indicated that the media met the criteria for software engineering, visual communication, and instructional design. Therefore, the RPG-based game media was declared suitable for use as a learning aid at public junior high school 5 Tarakan.

Abstract

This study, an extensive bibliometric analysis, was conducted to detect trends, collaboration patterns, and topic structures in the scientific literature on primary school icebreaking approaches. Scientific publication data was acquired from Google Scholar using relevant keywords. The investigation covered 2021–2025 article documents. This study used VOSviewer for mapping and visualization. Annual publication patterns, mapping author, institution, and country collaborations, and keyword co-occurrence analysis to identify dominating research subject clusters and emergent issues were examined. The finding indicated that from 2021 to 2025, 83 research articles examined elementary school icebreaking approaches. VOSviewer's visual map also identified three main thematic clusters: Cluster 1 (elementary schools, ice-breaking implementation and benefits, and the effect of ice-breaking implementation, assisted by ice-breaking, on learning interest), Cluster 2 (elementary schools, learning, the role of ice-breaking, and ice-breaking techniques), and Cluster 3 (ice, ice-breaking, and mathematics learning). This cluster discusses public elementary school icebreaking methods, roles, and implementation. The network visualization showed that icebreaking was the most explored topic. The density visualization term with the brightest color and greatest diameter is "ice breaking," indicating that journals commonly study this topic. Overlay visualizations and studies on primary school icebreaking procedures showed changes from 2021 to 2025. This topic saw a rise in research in 2021-2023 but a sharp fall in 2024-2025. Finally, this bibliometric analysis presents a clear and structured summary of elementary school icebreaking research, indicating underexplored subareas and prospective study goals. These findings help academics, practitioners, and policymakers construct evidence-based educational approaches.

Abstract

Educational change requires teachers to be more digitally literate due to rapid technology development. This adjustment is difficult for some teachers, especially elementary school teachers. This research is driven by the principal's transformative leadership and managerial talents in guiding this transition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the principal's managerial strategy, how the principal improves teachers' digital literacy, teachers' perceptions of the principal's transformational leadership style, and the obstacles faced by teachers in improving digital literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers at various levels, and administrative staff. Data sources were obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The research instruments were interview guidelines and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used was the interactive model of Miles, who plays, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was maintained through triangulation techniques for data sources and methods. The findings of this study demonstrate that the principal has adopted a transformational leadership style by offering motivation, serving as a role model, and fostering collaboration among teachers. However, some teachers have encountered resistance due to age, time constraints, and a lack of confidence in using digital devices. School principals continue to make various efforts to overcome these obstacles so that teachers' digital literacy can improve sustainably.

Abstract

Asynchronous learning is important to worldwide higher education's digital transition. Despite extensive technology usage, issues about asynchronous learning media quality and pedagogy persist. Most studies have used the participants' final exam scores to evaluate the effectiveness of asynchronous learning. Consequently, this study seeks to evaluate the efficacy of e-learning media in facilitating asynchronous learning within the Officer Cadet Advancement Training Program (CATP or PASIS) at the higher education level. The primary focus of the research is to identify the level of participant engagement, their perceptions of the effectiveness of e-learning media, and the challenges faced by both participants and facilitators during the learning process. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data collected through questionnaires administered to 47 respondents at Poltekpel Barombong and qualitative data gathered through in-depth interviews with participants, instructors, and e-learning administrators. The findings indicated that most participants regularly access the platform, complete assignments on time, and feel comfortable with self-directed learning. However, forum participation and learning motivation vary, especially among e-learning novices. While most respondents say e-learning media helps them understand the topic, they still need direct instruction, especially for technical content. Internet instability, lack of two-way communication, and participant digital incompetence are the key issues. Improved material quality, facilitator training, and solid support mechanisms improve e-learning deployment.
