Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the demonstration method in the Kidung Arutala choir practice at Waru Sidoarjo State High School 1, specifically regarding the song “Yamko Rambe Yamko.” The research focuses on the process of applying the demonstration method, the achievement of choir members’ practice outcomes in the behavioral, affective, and psychomotor domains, as well as the challenges faced during the practice process. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research subjects are the members of the Kidung Arutala choir and the choir director. The research object is the application of the demonstration method within the context of choir practice. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques, and their validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the application of the demonstration method is capable of increasing the activity, engagement, and understanding of choir members regarding vocal and musical techniques. The research subjects were participants who were actively involved in the training process through observing, imitating, and directly practicing the techniques demonstrated by the trainer. The training results showed improvement in three domains of learning: the behavioral domain (changes in students’ attitudes after applying the demonstration method), the affective domain (attitudes of discipline, cooperation, and responsibility), and the psychomotor domain (articulation skills, breath control, intonation, and musical expression). During the demonstration process, the coach provided step-by-step guidance, repeated demonstrations, and both individual and group approaches. Thus, the application of the demonstration method in rehearsals for the song “Yamko Rambe Yamko” proved effective in improving the vocal and musical abilities of the members of the Kidung Arutala choir. This study is expected to serve as a reference for coaches or arts and culture teachers in developing more effective, practical, and contextual vocal teaching methods.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the sustainability of the gambus music extracurricular program at MA Negeri 4 Jombang, which has been consistently implemented despite the demanding schedules of students as Islamic boarding school (santri) members. This condition reflects a learning process that accommodates students' time constraints while supporting the development of their artistic potential. Therefore, this study aims to describe the planning and implementation of the gambus music extracurricular learning program and to analyze its impact on students' interest, attitudes, and discipline in artistic activities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The research participants consisted of the extracurricular coordinator, the instructor, and students participating in the gambus music extracurricular program at MA Negeri 4 Jombang. Furthermore, the data were analyzed through the processes of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that the learning program was systematically planned by establishing learning objectives, selecting appropriate instructional materials, applying demonstration and direct practice methods, utilizing gambus musical instruments as learning media, and conducting continuous evaluations based on students' learning progress. The learning implementation consisted of introductory, core, and closing activities, with an emphasis on collaborative musical practice. Although the program encountered several challenges, including limited facilities, differences in students' abilities, and the demanding schedules of santri, the extracurricular activities were implemented effectively. Moreover, participation in the gambus music extracurricular program positively contributed to enhancing students' interest in the arts, fostering responsibility and teamwork, and strengthening their discipline in participating in extracurricular activities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the existence of Sodiq New Monata in the Indonesian national dangdut music scene through the perspective of Soren Kierkegaard's theory of existence and to identify the factors influencing the sustainability of his existence. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data trustworthiness was established using source, technique, and time triangulation, while data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Sodiq New Monata's existence is reflected in Kierkegaard's three stages of existence. The aesthetic stage is characterized by the pursuit of pleasure during his youth, which later transformed into a consciously managed personal branding strategy. The ethical stage is manifested through his leadership responsibility toward New Monata, while the religious stage is reflected in gratitude as the highest expression of worship. Furthermore, his continued existence is supported by internal factors, including strong personal branding, adaptability, leadership, and humility, as well as external factors such as family support, close relationships with fans, effective utilization of digital media, extensive networks within the music industry, and collaborative relationships with fellow musicians. This study demonstrates that the sustainability of a dangdut musician's existence is determined not only by artistic competence but also by consistency, responsibility, and the ability to adapt to the changing dynamics of the contemporary music industry.

Abstract

Trainers at Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya use a special strategy to train visually impaired students in the traditional art of puppetry (seni pedalangan). This study aims to: 1) describe the process of applying a multisensory approach in puppetry training for visually impaired students through the story of Si Kancil at Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya, and 2) analyze the application of the multisensory approach in the puppetry performance of visually impaired students through the story of Si Kancil at Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya. The approach applied in this training is multisensory, maximizing the tactile (touch), kinesthetic (movement), and auditory (hearing) senses. The research used a qualitative approach with data collected through field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study, then presented in a descriptive-analytical form. The findings indicate that maximizing tactile, kinesthetic, and auditory techniques in both the training and performance stages is a concrete manifestation of the multisensory approach, enabling visually impaired students to comprehend both the theory and practice of puppetry. In conclusion, maximizing tactile, kinesthetic, and auditory techniques in the training and performance of puppetry through the story of Si Kancil at Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya is highly appropriate and consistent with the training strategies adapted by the studio's instructors. This approach not only made it easier for the students to master puppetry but also strengthened their tactile, kinesthetic, and auditory senses and fostered selfconfidence in visually impaired students. Keywords: multisensory approach, puppetry art, visually impaired students, Si Kancil, Sanggar Baladewa Surabaya.
