Dharma Sastra merupakan jurnal ilmiah nasional yang memuat tentang hasil penelitian bahasa dan sastra daerah. Jurnal ini mencakup kaidah kebahasaan sekaligus didedikasikan untuk pelestarian bahasa daerah nusantara. Upaya ini sangat penting sebagai edukasi keanekaragaman bahasa daerah termasuk pengetahuan nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam ragam sastra daerah nusantara. Dharma Sastra diterbitkan dua kali dalam setahun oleh Prodi Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Bali Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar.

Abstract

Bali is one of the regions in Indonesia helping maintain the richness of the archipelago in the form of literary works, one of which is Old Javanese literary works which are still well preserved today. Old Javanese literary works are special and relatively old literary ones because most of the literary works are from the IX and XV centuries (Zoetmulder, 1985: 18-25). The method used is the library study method and manuscript reading, namely using the listening method. The listening method is a method used to obtain data by listening to language use. The term listening here is not only related to the use of language orally, but also in writing (Mashun, 2005:90). Heuristic and hermeneutic reading is also used and assisted by note-taking and translation techniques. Based on the corpus of Kakawin Nirartha Prakrĕta, it can be concluded that the storyline contains a life picture of good and bad behavior in life which in Hinduism is called Subha Asubha Karma. This proves the narrative unit about dharma teachings (dharmasastra) which dominates the story content of Kakawin Nirartha Prakrĕta. It can be concluded that before interpreting a kakawin text we must first know its structureThe narrative structure that builds Kakawin Nirartha Prakrĕtha includes Manggala "opening section", corpus "content section", epilogue "concluding section". The three parts of the Kakawin Nirartha Prakrĕtha narrative structure certainly have a very close and interrelated relationship.

Abstract

Balinese, as the mother tongue of the Balinese people, faces challenges in its survival. Although the number of Balinese speakers is still relatively large, there is an alarming shift among the younger generation in the use of this language. This phenomenon creates the need for more serious efforts to strengthen the position of the Balinese language, especially in the family environment and early education. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection carried out through a literature review. Analysis shows that Balinese is included in the category of endangered languages according to language typology by Michel Krauss. The use of Balinese as the language of instruction in initial education at school level is also an important focus. However, national policies and globalization pressures often lead to a decline in the use of regional languages in schools. The importance of using the mother tongue in education, especially at the initial level, has been supported by international organizations such as UNESCO. Efforts to strengthen the Balinese language can be carried out through several strategies, including strengthening the use of the Balinese language in the family environment, using Balinese as the language of instruction in schools at the educational level beginning, holding family-level Balinese language competitions, and reviving the "Dina Mabasa Bali" program as part of a policy that strengthens the habit of using the Balinese language. Through these steps, it is hoped that the existence of the Balinese language as the mother tongue of the Balinese people can be maintained and strengthened.

Abstract

The current state of Indonesian society is troubled by moral decline. This not only affects teenagers but also older people who can set an example of good behavior. A quality nation is a nation that is able to maintain its personality, provide moral education, exemplify the teachings of noble values to be preserved and developed in harmony with the progress of the times. One way is to explore and display the treasures stored in Old Javanese literary works. Based on the background above, the main problems can be raised, namely as follows: (1) What is the synopsis of the story Swarga Rohana Parwa? (2) What is the analysis of the intrinsic elements in the story Swarga Rohana Parwa? (3) What educational values are contained in the story Swarga Rohana Parwa. Swarga Rohana Parwa is one of the classic literary works in the Old Javanese language. This prose focuses on the process of human life after leaving the world based on the results of their actions.

Abstract

Most of the students' basic ability to write Balinese characters needs to be improved. This can be seen when students are given discourse in Balinese characters, most of them complain and say that they cannot read. Some students are indifferent because they really cannot read Balinese characters. The lack of basic ability to write Balinese script makes students less interested in Balinese script material. From the assessment of learning outcomes, it also looks very low, where out of 30 students only 1 participant gets a score above the KKM. Therefore, action research must be conducted with the title Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning Berbantuan Media Aplikasi Patik Bali untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Materi Pasang Aksara Bali pada Peserta Didik Kelas VII4 SMP Negeri 5 Kuta Selatan Semester Ganjil Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. This research was conducted using a type of Classroom Action Research (PTK) consisting of pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II. From the research conducted, student learning outcomes have increased from pre-cycle to cycle II. This can be seen in the pre-cycle, out of 25 students who were complete as many as 6 students (24%) and those who were not complete were 19 students (76%). Whereas in cycle I, there were 15 students (60%) who were complete and 10 students (40%) who were not complete. Then in cycle II the students who were complete were 25 students (100%). So from pre-cycle to cycle I there was an increase in learning outcomes by 16%, while from cycle I to cycle II there was an increase in learning outcomes by 40%. With the acquisition of these data, it can be concluded that the application of a problem-based learning model with the Balinese patik application media can improve the learning outcomes of pairs of Balinese characters for students in class VII4 SMP Negeri 5 Kuta Selatan in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Abstract

The research is conducted to achieve the following objectives: (1) to describe the silent reading ability of Balinese language texts by eighth-grade students (class VIII.1) at Ngurah Rai Kerobokan Junior High School, and (2) to describe the challenges faced by students when engaging in silent reading to comprehend the content of the text. This study aims to evaluate the reading comprehension ability of Balinese discourse among eighth-grade students (class VIII.1) at Ngurah Rai Kerobokan-Badung Junior High School. Data were collected and analyzed to determine the students' reading comprehension proficiency based on the assessment standards for Balinese language in eighth grade under the School-Based Curriculum (KTSP). The analysis revealed that the students' reading comprehension ability falls under the category of "less proficient," with an average score of 65. Despite the minimum passing grade (KKM) being set at 72, only 9 students (22.5%) were able to achieve it, while the remaining 31 students (77.5%) scored below the KKM. The main difficulties encountered by students in reading Balinese discourse include understanding vocabulary, language structure, and lack of interest in reading. Therefore, the majority of students are considered not proficient in reading Balinese discourse.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the mixture of Balinese language codes found in the punakawan wayang kulit parwa in the story Rempong Bhisma. The data source in this research is a video document of the Rempong Bhisma wayang kulit performance. Data collection methods in this research used socument study, interviews, and literature methods. The theories used to dissect the problem in this research are, Code Mixing Theory and Language Contact Theory. In this era of globalization whare technology and information are growing. Which causes the Balinese language to mix with other languages. Knowledge of two or more languages creates new language touch or contact, which causes a one language phenomenon called code mixing. One of them is the mixed code of Balinese wayang kulit parwa in story Rempong Bhisma. This research is a video documentation of the wayang kulit story Rempong Bhisma. The result of this research is the form of code mixing in the use of Balinese in language by the wayang kulit parwa in story Rempong Bhisma in the form of words, phrases, and sentence forms

Abstract

This research is qualitative descriptive research that takes the implication of the Ramayana story in the digital era as an object and its relevance in religious moderation. The data collection method used in this study is the method of observation and literature study. The summary of the Ramayana story taken in the Itihasa book in this paper, is found to have strong relevance in today's society, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and the stage of entering the era of society 5.0 which is inseparable from the existence of technology. Abstract

This study examines the integration of Balinese language teaching with digital literacy at Elementary School No. 6 Kuta, employing a qualitative descriptive method. Drawing from the perspectives of students, the research explores how the incorporation of local language education in digital learning environments can enhance cultural understanding and technological skills. Theoretical frameworks by Sugiyono (2012) and Gee (2004) guided the investigation, focusing on naturalistic observation and the critical role of local language in literacy development. Data collection methods included classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The findings highlight that the integration of Balinese language into digital literacy improves students' engagement and comprehension, particularly through culturally relevant content. However, challenges such as limited access to technology and insufficient teacher training emerged as significant barriers. A holistic approach, including collaboration between educators, government, and local communities, is recommended to overcome these challenges and ensure effective implementation. The study suggests that digital literacy, when combined with local language education, fosters both digital competence and cultural preservation, serving as a model for educational policy development.

Abstract

The Balinese language plays a very important role in the life and culture of the Balinese people and has a major role in the intellectual, social and emotional development of students. As one of the local advantages in Bali, learning Balinese is expected to help students get to know, love and help preserve the local advantages of Bali. The introduction of Balinese needs to be intensified. Gending rare not only introduces Balinese language to young children but also forms character traits such as positive values ​​and moral messages. Introduction to Balinese is not only the role of parents at home but can be done at school. The stimulation that can be given to young children in introducing Balinese is similar to the approach used by parents, such as using rare gending media. Through these songs, children can more easily understand and remember their language and culture. Based on this background, several problems that may arise include: (1) What strategies are used to introduce Balinese language through rare gending media in early childhood? (2) what are the inhibiting factors that occur in the introduction of Balinese language through gending rare media in early childhood (3) the role of introducing Balinese language through gending rare media in early childhood at Hainan School Kindergarten. This research applies a qualitative approach, because it does not rely specifically on statistical data or numbers. The theories underlying this research include early childhood development theory and language development theory. The object of this research is focused on the role and function of rare gending media in introducing Balinese to young children. The research data source was obtained from the introduction of Balinese through rare gending at the Hainan School Kindergarten, using observation, interviews, literature study and documentation methods. The selection of informants was carried out using snowball sampling technique. The research results are known; (1) The learning strategies used in introducing Balinese through gending rare media for children at the Hainan School Kindergarten are audiovisual methods, picture methods, gending rare methods (movements and songs), and traditional game methods. (2) Inhibiting factors that influence the introduction of Balinese language in gending rare media in early childhood are the family environment, learning tools, the surrounding environment, as well as changes in culture and views of society. (3) some The role of introducing Balinese through gending rare media to children at the Hainan School Kindergarten is cultural preservation, character formation, and preservation of the mother tongue. In this context, the introduction of Balinese through the media of rare songs in early childhood has a very important role in preserving Balinese regional culture and language.
