Abstract

This study analyzes language disorders in individuals with cleft lip and palate from a phonological perspective, using a case study of the TikTok account @orangkampungatm2 in the context of the Sundanese language. A qualitative narrative approach was used as the methodological framework, with data collection through observation and note-taking of videos uploaded by the subject of the study. The analysis results show that the cleft condition affects the individual's phonetic abilities, particularly in the articulation of bilabial, nasal, and fricative sounds in Sundanese. These sound distortions are caused by the subject's inability to fully close their lips due to the cleft in the lip area. Furthermore, cleft lip and palate also impact suprasegmental aspects such as intonation and prosody (stress). These findings highlight the linguistic challenges faced by individuals with cleft lip and palate and the role of social media in raising public awareness of linguistic diversity. This research provides a detailed overview of the phonetic characteristics of speech in individuals with cleft palate in the Sundanese language, while also demonstrating how social media can serve as a valuable data source for clinical linguistic studies

Abstract

Gugon tuwon is a piece of advice left by ancestors passed down to children and grandchildren, containing teachings to ensure life continues well. The existence of gugon tuwon in Balinese society today is no longer a teaching or advice in living life. Reflecting on this, there is an important meaning that can be learned from gugon tuwon, in fact it is the principle of believing in what is worthy of belief, trusting in the true. The meaning of gugon tuwon today tends to be related to several aspects, namely, sraddha, responsibility, and Balinese ajeg. Traditions use gugon tuwon as a fact that is difficult to explain logically, but difficult to deny. No one blames Gugon tuwon, and no one doubts how Hindus' belief when carrying out a ritual ceremony, even if it is only based on tradition passed down from generation to generation, without knowing the philosophy, does not only mean being confident but also carrying it out seriously. Basically, gugon tuwon is a response to the younger generation to have a good attitude in everyday behavior

Abstract

This research analyzes the structure and values of Hindu education contained in the Watugunung story based on the perspective of the people of Bulian Village, Bali. The Watugunung story is one of the important mythological stories in Balinese tradition which has various narrative variations in each region. The Bulian Village version displays different story elements and characterization compared to the widely circulated version. The analysis in this article covers two main aspects, namely, intrinsic and extrinsic elements. This research found that the local interpretation of Bulian Village not only enriches understanding of the Watugunung story, but also emphasizes moral and spiritual education that is relevant to Hindu teachings. The results of this research provide new insight into how local traditions and myths can act as a means of religious learning and character formation in the Balinese Hindu community. These findings also show that local variations in narratives do not reduce the essence of Hindu teachings, but instead enrich their meaning and application in people's lives.

Abstract

The existence of formal educational institutions such as senior high schools (SMA) and vocational schools (SMK) in Bali is expected to serve as a means of preserving the Balinese language. However, recent educational regulations have integrated Balinese language learning with cultural arts subjects, resulting in Balinese no longer being a standalone subject in high schools. This issue has motivated the culinary program at SMK Negeri 1 Tampaksiring to explore the Balinese language more deeply through internal innovation aimed at language conservation. Therefore, this study aims to analyze Balinese language instruction within the local content curriculum of the culinary expertise concentration at SMK Negeri 1 Tampaksiring. This research is based on primary data (interviews) and secondary data (literature studies). The data were collected through interviews, literature reviews, and document analysis, and interpreted using learning theory and functional theory. The results were then presented descriptively.         The findings reveal three main points: First, the Balinese language instruction in the culinary department at SMK Negeri 1 Tampaksiring aims to counteract the extinction of Balinese amidst the dominance of foreign languages in Bali, to preserve local Balinese-language communication, to honor the efforts of Balinese language preservation, to support government consistency in maintaining the language, and to promote Balinese at national and international levels. Second, the challenges in Balinese language instruction in the culinary department include a shortage of qualified Balinese language teachers, the persistence of conventional teaching methods, limited learning resources such as lontar manuscripts and prukpak, and students' apathy due to the perceived lack of commercial value of the language. These challenges have been addressed through teacher competency development and the provision of physical learning materials like prukpak and ental leaves. Third, the integration of Balinese language learning into the culinary program influences students in disseminating modern culinary innovations to local communities and helps foster a generation of Balinese youth committed to the preservation of their language.

Interestingly, only one family is allowed to sell in this temple. Data collection involved interview and observation methods aided by recording and note-taking techniques, including idiomatic translation. Data analysis employed qualitative methods assisted by descriptive-analytical techniques. Presentation of the data analysis results used informal methods with deductive and inductive techniques. The structure that constructs the text of The Myth of Pasar Majelangu consists of incidents, plot development, characters and characterization, setting, theme, and messages, which are interconnected to form a cohesive literary work. There are also social and unifying functions. Local wisdom values still exist in the community and are upheld by those with strong beliefs. The enduring beliefs within the community are also due to the universal nature of the existing culture, which has become integral to their way of life.
