Abstract

This study investigates the differences in board experience diversity between transportation companies with high and low growth in Indonesia. Board experience diversity—both at the supervisory board (SBExD) and management board (MBExD) levels—is considered a critical element of corporate governance, influencing strategic decision-making and organizational adaptability. Using a quantitative approach, the study analyzes data from nine publicly listed transportation firms for fourteen years (2004-2017), divided based on company growth performance. Independent samples t-tests reveal no statistically significant differences in SBExD and MBExD between high-growth and low-growth firms, suggesting that board experience diversity may not directly differentiate growth performance in the transportation sector. Effect size analyses also indicate small to negligible practical differences across groups. These findings imply that while board experience diversity remains important for governance quality, its impact may be moderated by other organizational or industry-specific factors. The study highlights the need for broader governance reforms and deeper investigations into contextual variables influencing board effectiveness. Limitations include the reliance on secondary data and cross-sectional design, prompting future research to adopt longitudinal and multi-sectoral approaches to better understand the dynamic role of board diversity in corporate performance.

Abstract

This study investigates the differences in board governance ethnic diversity between large and small real estate companies in Indonesia, a country known for its rich ethnic heterogeneity but lacking in inclusive representation within corporate leadership. Using a quantitative approach, the research examines ethnic diversity at both the supervisory board (SBED) and management board (MBED) levels. An observation of 364 real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2004-2017, comprising 317 large and 47 small firms—was analyzed based on publicly available board composition data. Independent samples t-tests reveal a statistically significant difference in SBED between large and small companies, with smaller firms exhibiting higher ethnic diversity (p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 0.464). However, no significant difference was found in MBED across firm sizes. The findings suggest that organizational size plays a critical role in shaping ethnic representation at the supervisory board level, likely due to differing governance structures and recruitment practices. These results have practical implications for corporate policy, particularly in encouraging inclusive governance practices in larger firms. The study highlights the need for greater transparency in diversity reporting and provides a foundation for future research on ethnic inclusivity in Indonesia’s corporate sector.

This study aims to determine the effect of education and job training on employee competency at the Tanah Datar Regency Fisheries and Food Service. Employee competency is an important factor in supporting the achievement of public sector organizational performance. Education and job training are strategic efforts undertaken by organizations to improve employee capabilities, knowledge, and skills so they can carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population in this study were all employees of the Tanah Datar Regency Fisheries and Food Service, with samples taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that education and job training have a positive and significant effect on employee competency. This finding indicates that the higher the quality of education and the more frequent job training provided, the better the employee competency. Therefore, organizations are advised to continue to improve targeted and sustainable education and training programs to create superior and professional human resources.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work ethic and organizational commitment on employee productivity at the Agam Regency Education Office. The underlying problem of this study is the low motivation and loyalty of employees, which impacts work productivity. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The population in this study amounted to 56 employees and the sampling was carried out using total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality tests, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results of the study indicate that, partially and simultaneously, work ethic and organizational commitment have a positive and significant effect on employee productivity. The coefficient of determination value of 73.4% indicates that the two independent variables are able to explain variations in employee productivity substantially. This finding confirms that increasing employee productivity can be achieved by strengthening work ethic and organizational commitment synergistically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership and work environment on employee work motivation at the Tanah Datar Regency Transportation Office. The research approach used is associative quantitative with a sample of 60 employees taken using total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires compiled based on the indicators of each variable, and analyzed by multiple linear regression using the SPSS version program. The results of the study indicate that: (1) leadership has a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation, (2) the work environment has a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation, and (3) simultaneously, leadership and work environment have a significant effect on employee work motivation. These findings strengthen the view that employee work motivation in government organizations is greatly influenced by the leadership style applied and the conditions of the work environment created. Therefore, it is important for agency leaders to create a conducive work climate and apply a leadership style that can encourage employee enthusiasm and involvement to the maximum.
