Abstract

In the realm of national security and sovereignty, Indonesia’s defense industry serves as a cornerstone, with its investment dynamics playing a significant role. This study offers a detailed analysis of these dynamics over the past decade, employing a comprehensive literature review methodology. It synthesizes information from a range of primary and secondary sources to unveil complex investment patterns, challenges faced by the industry, and the potential for growth and advancement. Scrutinizing the multifaceted factors that drive investment decisions, this study uncovers how geopolitical, economic, and security considerations, both globally and regionally, have influenced the industry. A notable finding is the strong correlation between an uptick in investments and advancements in technological innovation and industry autonomy. Despite positive developments, the study highlights ongoing challenges like stringent regulatory frameworks, a need for greater transparency, and the urgency of improving sector efficiency. A shift towards a more independent and technologically advanced defense industry in Indonesia is discernible, spurred by strategic investments. The study also sheds light on the pivotal role of foreign direct investment (FDI) in enhancing technological capabilities and catalyzing the growth of local industries via collaborative ventures. In terms of policy, the paper advocates for reformative strategies that reconcile national interests with the necessity of global economic integration. It suggests a suite of policy recommendations designed to promote a conducive investment environment, encouraging private sector involvement and international cooperation in alignment with Indonesia’s defense objectives. The conclusion asserts the feasibility of a sustainable and burgeoning defense industry through strategic and informed investment approaches. It calls for continued research and open dialogue among policymakers, industry players, and academics to effectively navigate the investment landscape of Indonesia’s defense sector, ensuring its alignment with broader economic goals.

Abstract

The Vietnam War against France began with the French colonization of Vietnam for nearly a century. France initially controlled South Vietnam in 1858 and expanded its influence throughout the country after the Sino-French War in 1885. This colonial rule sparked resistance from Vietnamese nationalists. The movement for Vietnamese independence gained momentum after World War II when the French tried to reclaim Vietnam. This research aims to evaluate the strategies employed by Vietnam against French and US colonialism, drawing parallels with Indonesia's fight against Dutch colonialism. Historical research methods are used to collect, analyze, and interpret past data. Various aspects, including ideology, politics, economics, and culture, influenced the relationships between the involved countries during their respective colonial periods and wars. Strengthening guerrilla warfare capabilities can provide tactical advantages for Indonesia's defense, but a balanced defense doctrine that adapts to emerging threats is essential. This approach ensures the maintenance of state security and sovereignty.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has quite abundant coal reserves. Coal reserves are most widely spread in Kalimantan and Sumatra and several other areas. When the production of other fossil energy such as petroleum decreases, the use of coal energy sources actually increases. However, coal is also known as a dirty fossil fuel because its use has a negative impact on the environment. This needs to be paid attention to in order to develop innovations in using coal that are more environmentally friendly, so that they can also support the energy transition to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target. The energy transition is a process that must be carried out by countries in the world to reduce carbon emissions which can cause climate change and global warming. The agreement on the energy transition aims to increase the use of clean energy. The energy transition does not have to eliminate coal. However, coal requires innovation for more environmentally friendly use. One of the environmentally friendly coal utilization technologies is coal gasification. In the road map for the development and utilization of coal by applying environmentally friendly technology through coal gasification, one of which is the coal development program to produce methanol and DME.

Abstract

The Military Academy, abbreviated as Akmil is the Central Implementing Agency at the Mabesad level in the field of education which is domiciled directly under the Kasad. Based on the organizational structure and duties (Orgas) Akmil consists of Leadership Elements, Leadership Assistant Elements, Service Elements, and Implementing Elements. Currently, Akmil personnel number 2,408 people with details of Officers 685, Non-Commissioned Officers 597, Tamtama 571, and Civil Servants 555 people. To facilitate access in service, Akmil provides official house facilities to each member in the Panca Arga Magelang Housing Complex. The majority of personnel who go to work in Akmil use motorized vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled.  Round-trip activities from the Panca Arga Housing Complex to Akmil using motorized vehicles, of course, are inseparable from the so-called carbon footprint.  The research method used is a review literature of several scientific articles related to exhaust emissions.  The exhaust emissions in two-wheeled vehicles were 15,686.5 Kg/L, while four-wheeled vehicles were 9,155.8 Kg/L. It is necessary to calculate the emission of CO2 waste gases assuming the fuel used is pertalite and pertamax.

Abstract

State defense is essentially all universal defense efforts which means involving all citizens, territories, and other national resources, as well as being prepared early by the government and held in a total, integrated, directed, and continuous manner to uphold state sovereignty, territorial integrity and the safety of the entire nation from all threats both from outside and from within. This research aims to diagnostically analyze the potential risks and safety systems in rocket development as a benchmarking and basic foothold in the growth of the weapons technology ecosystem. This research uses a qualitative approach method with a literature study approach. The results obtained are in the form of various potential risks which can provide failures and losses in rocket development. The safety system that is possible to implement by prioritizing the suitability found in Indonesian rocket development, is to review and ensure the stages of preparation, integration and testing (or similar) in rocket development.

Abstract

For almost two years, Ukraine has faced the Russia's full-scale invasion and war of aggression, an illegal, premeditated and illegitimate act that represents an attack not only against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, but also a flagrant violation of international law, including the Charter of the United Nations. The brutal military aggression against Ukraine caused destruction, material damages and widespread suffering for civilians, which has led to the worst humanitarian crisis in Europe since the end of the Second World War. Consequently, the dramatic situation in Ukraine has caused new and unanticipated challenges for neighbouring countries, including Romania, given their proximity to the conflict zone. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to highlight, first of all, the EU emergency response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and also solidarity with Ukraine. Taking into account Romania's status as an EU member, the next objective of this study is to point out Romania's involvement and comprehensive support for Ukraine in the humanitarian field, especially on protection and inclusion of Ukrainian refugees. Taking into account Romania's status as an EU member, the next objective of this study is to point out Romania's involvement and comprehensive support for Ukraine in the humanitarian field, especially on protection and inclusion of Ukrainian refugees. In order to achieve these proposed objectives, qualitative and quantitative research methods were utilised, written data being used, but also logical or statistical observations to draw conclusions. As well, inductive reasoning conducted the research from the specific to the general situations, while deductive reasoning allowed to make an inference by going from general premises to specific conclusions.

Abstract

This research conducts a systematic literature review to examine the implementation of Unmanned Ground Vehicle System (UGVS) in the context of defense in Indonesia. Given the geographical and operational challenges faced by Indonesian military personnel, UGVS offers an innovative solution to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of military and non-military operations. This study considers the application of UGVS that has been adopted in several developed countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, China and Russia, to explore its potential in enhancing Indonesia's defense capacity. The review covers aspects such as the potential of UGVS in enhancing defense capabilities, technical challenges in the integration of UGVS into existing defense systems, and strategies to overcome these challenges. The research also evaluates the performance of UGVS in combat situations and its impact on defense operations. Using a systematic literature review method, this research presents an in-depth analysis of UGVS applications and highlights the need for integration of this technology in Indonesia's defense system to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
