Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of social media marketing and brand image on consumer decisions to buy Wardah brand skin care products. The population of this research is people who live in Balikpapan, Samarinda, and Bontang cities. The number of respondents is 109 who meet this research sample's criteria. This study uses structural equation modeling (SEM), which is measured using partial least squares (PLS). SmartPLS 3.0, a data processing software application tool, was used to conduct the analysis. The findings of this study indicate that brand image has an insignificant influence on customers' decisions to buy Wardah brand skin care products. This is because currently, there are many companies that are similar & offer the same benefits & functions and also because people trust customer evaluations and testimonials more than claims made unilaterally by a skin care product. Meanwhile, social media marketing significantly affects consumers' decisions to buy Wardah brand skin care products.

Abstract

The Insurance Law and the Indonesian Penal Code regulate criminal acts such as fraud during agreements and insurance claims. However, prior to Law No. 1 of 2023, criminal liability applied only to individuals, not corporations. This specific law establishes corporate criminal liability in insurance matters, enabling prosecution against corporations and their executives. Cumulative criminal threats are challenging to impose on corporations as they apply to executives, not the corporation itself. This study is a normative legal investigation exploring regulations, principles, and legal norms, aiming to accurately comprehend corporate criminal liability in the insurance field in Indonesia. Insurance crimes in Indonesia before the enactment of Law No. 1 of 2023, such as fraud during agreements and claims, were governed by Articles 381 and 382 of the Penal Code. Insurance Law No. 40 of 2014 covers ten articles encompassing insurance crimes, including operating without a license, document forgery, and misuse of confidential information. Articles 45-50 of Law No. 1 of 2023 establish corporations as subjects of criminal acts in insurance. Penal sanctions include fines and additional penalties, focusing on impact assessment and losses, governing a specific accountability system within insurance-related criminal acts.

Abstract

The increasingly sophisticated technology of today has brought about a number of developments, notably in the financial industry. Effective financial management is essential for change adaptation. This study attempts to examine the impact that self-control, attitudes, and knowledge have on students' financial management. Two hundred students from the city of Semarang served as the sample for this study. Multiple linear regression analysis approaches are used in data processing with the SPSS program. The findings show that while the attitude variable has no discernible impact on financial management, the knowledge and self-control factors have a positive and significant influence on it. The study's adjusted R square value indicated that knowledge, attitude, and self-control variables accounted for 78.9% of the variation in financial management variables, with other variables outside the scope of the research influencing the remaining 21.1%.

Abstract

After achieving success in the attack on the Navy base at Pearl Harbor on December 7h 1941, the Japanese Empire felt that it had still not completed its goal of crippling the strength of the United States Navy in the Pacific region. This was because the United States and its allies were considered to be a serious threat to Japan's ambitions to dominate Greater Asia. This was done as a continuation of Japan's plan to attack the base and its fleet of warships and fighter planes at Athol Midway. This was preceded by strategic efforts and deceptive tactics to create threatening conditions on the Aleutian islands, it was hoped that this would lead the United States to be trapped in the area, and then they would be attacked by the Japanese Navy fleet in full force. However, what happened was just the opposite, the naval battle at Midway on June 4-7th 1942 resulted in huge defeats and losses for the Japanese Empire, where four aircraft carriers, fighter planes, and several warships were sunk, as well as many crew members and pilots. who died. Meanwhile, on the United States side, an aircraft carrier and several warships were sunk and damaged and many soldiers died. The purpose of writing this article is to use the history of the naval battle at Midway as a very valuable lesson in developing war strategy planning, especially in maritime defense strategies, which can be applied by the Indonesian Navy in the present and the future. The research method used is a qualitative method with a literature approach regarding the history of naval battles in general, including the battle at Midway. Meanwhile, the output of this article is addressed to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia as input regarding the importance of a mature strategy in the National Defense Strategy at sea

Abstract

This research employs an analytical-statistical approach to investigate the extent of translation utilization in four universities located in Kabul, Afghanistan. This research has been initiated across 96 academic disciplines in 25 public universities in Afghanistan The study aims to illustrate the landscape of translation activities during the academic year (2019-2020) and assess the progress made in comparison to preceding years. The research findings reveal a noteworthy increase in the number of subject registrations for translation in the four prominent Kabul universities, demonstrating an approximate 30% difference between the academic year 1398 and its antecedent. While the overall quantity of translated works may not be exceptionally high, it signifies a positive and significant stride toward augmenting materials and resources for academic research in the country. The primary focus of inquiry was on establishing an effective translation process within Afghan universities to leverage the works and research conducted by scholars from other nations. The unprecedented resurgence observed in the academic year 1398 in Kabul universities stands in stark contrast to the academic landscape of the 1990s.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its vast maritime territory and abundant water resources, requires substantial efforts to safeguard defense and security. The effective defense strategy of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) involves strategically placing naval bases throughout the entire region, demonstrating a deterrent effect to potential adversaries and affirming the presence of TNI AL in the waters of the Republic of Indonesia. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of the Maritime Defense Strategy in early detection of threats along the coast of Garut, West Java. This qualitative research adopts a phenomenological approach, utilizing interview, observation, and documentation methods. The findings indicate that the placement of Binpotmar personnel in Cikelet Garut under the jurisdiction of Posal Pangandaran plays a crucial role in responding to the dynamics of local maritime issues. The flexibility and responsibility of Binpotmar demonstrate vital adaptability in responding to incidents at the border. Functioning as the forefront of intelligence and executing maritime operations, the presence of Binpotmar is a strategic step to enhance self-reliance in carrying out operational tasks. The research also emphasizes the optimal utilization of Cikelet Garut's potential, including the well-maintained Dutch legacy docks, through infrastructural improvements and advanced technology. The naval facility in the area can effectively respond to maritime threats, fulfill the 5R criteria in the Southern Region of Java Island, and create a deterrent effect against adversaries. The importance of collaboration with the Garut Regency Government through forkopimda is highlighted as a crucial consideration for TNI AL. Overall, the research underscores the significance of a comprehensive and collaborative approach in maintaining maritime defense and security in the region.

Abstract

The study evaluates the efficiency of fiscal and monetary measures mitigating the worldwide economic downturn impacted Indonesia's economy. During the crisis, Indonesia faced challenges such as trade disruptions, decreased export demand, and financial sector experiences liquidity issues. Bank Indonesia implemented accommodative monetary policies, including interest rate adjustments, to stabilize financial markets and support economic recovery. The Indonesian government pursued an expansive fiscal policy, increasing government spending on infrastructure and social welfare programs to stimulate economic activity and mitigate social unrest. Tax incentives and relief measures were introduced to support businesses and stimulate investment, while targeted subsidies were provided to specific industries. Despite challenges such as fiscal constraints and external shocks, these policy measures contributed to reducing the crisis's impact, promoting economic resilience, and fostering sustainable development in Indonesia. Continuous evaluation and adaptation of policy frameworks are recommended to address emerging challenges effectively in the future.

Abstract

The military plays a key role in Indonesia’s fight against armed separatist -insurgent groups. Not only that is it mandated by law, the military’s involvement in counterinsurgency is also necessitated by practical demands and the nature of the conflict where separatist insurgents would often utilize guerilla warfare attacks such as exploitation of terrain to ambush security force positions. Other than the ability to inflict lethal force, the military also possess “soft” capabilities needed to win hearts & minds and facilitate the implementation of government policies. This study aims to analyze the operational application of military capabilities in counterinsurgency within an MOOTW framework in Papua. This article utilized a qualitative research design with a deductive analysis method where the researcher seeks to deductively analyze the data collected by understanding and studying theories from various literatures related to the research topic and then critically analyzing the data to answer the research questions as it pertains to the utilization Indonesia’s military capabilities as means within an operational plan to implement the counterinsurgency strategy, as well as the challenges in conducting such operations & the relative limitations of the capabilities of the Indonesian military that can be utilized. The results of this study found that the military capabilities are applied in territorial, intelligence, and combat/ enforcement operations. The challenges to the operational application include lack of cultural competence, actionable intelligence, unified command, as well as suitable metrics. In conclusion, the military supports the implementation of government policy in Papua via territorial, intelligence, and combat/ enforcement operations with significant impediments including lack of intelligence, cultural/ linguistic competence, metrics, and a unified command. To improve this, the military needs to provide cultural/ linguistic training, enable point persistent surveillance, stand up a unified structure to coordinate intelligence, and implement viable metrics to assess progress.

Abstract

The problem of conflict in the Mamasa Regency and Polewali Mamasa Regency areas is due to differences of opinion regarding Law (UU) Number 11 of 2002 concerning the expansion of the Polmas Regency into Mamasa Regency and Polmas Regency. He explained that his party would follow up on Law Number 11 of 2002 which stated that three sub-districts, namely Aralle, Tabulahan, Mambie (ATM) were part of Mamasa Regency. However, some Polmas residents still adhere to the decision of the DPRD Polmas which gives freedom to residents who do not want to join Mamasa to join Polmas. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The research location is located on the border of Mamasa Regency and Polewali Mamasa Regency. Data collection was carried out through library research. The research results show that the regional boundary conflicts that arise are more due to Law Number 11 of 2002 not considering the interests of parties who do not want to join Mamasa Regency, so they are forced to; repaired. Looking at the practical reality, several causes of conflict related to territorial boundaries have been identified, namely legal, economic, cultural, political and demographic, social and administrative factors. The step taken was to revise Law Number 11 of 2002 concerning the expansion of Community Policing into Mamasa Regency and Polres which was assisted by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government by involving Muspida and the Ministry of Home Affairs. With this process, both regions agree to accept the results of each decision prepared by the regional government and central government, taking into account the objections and wishes of each region.
