Abstract

In the coming years, Indonesia will experience a Demographic Bonus, with the fourth largest population in the world. This phenomenon provides great opportunities for economic growth and social progress. However, the advent of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 brings new challenges related to the changing landscape of work and automation that could potentially pose a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. This research evaluates strategies for managing the Demographic Bonus in Indonesia by considering the implications of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 from the perspective of defense science and state defense. The method used in this research is qualitative with descriptive analysis, Data collection in this research uses a literature study, The results showed that in facing and maximizing the demographic bonus, the right strategy is needed. The government has prepared a strategy to face the demographic bonus, namely by improving the quality of human resources such as reducing the stunting rate; increasing the human development index; increasing the gender empowerment index, then adjusting the education curriculum to the needs of industry 4.0, and preparing jobs by making downstream industrial policies and carrying out infrastructure development and access to technology, especially in 3T areas, is also an important focus. From the perspective of defense science and state defense, its role has increased in identifying threats, formulating defense policies, and protecting infrastructure. Implementation evaluations show that collaboration across sectors and governments is essential. Community empowerment, family planning, and controlled population growth are also key factors. With synergy between the government, private sector, and society, Indonesia is expected to reap maximum benefits from the Demographic Bonus while managing the impact of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, promoting sustainable growth and national prosperity.

Abstract

The enduring conflict over Kashmir between India and Pakistan remains unresolved despite several international mediation attempts. This study investigates these historical endeavors and evaluates Indonesia’s prospective role as a mediator leveraging its neutral stance and long-standing connections with both parties. A comprehensive qualitative literature review revealed that preceding mediations primarily concentrated on territorial lines, allocation of resources, and ephemeral ceasefires that temporarily eased tensions but were inadequate in addressing the underlying ideological divergences and identity issues perpetuating distrust. While frameworks such as the Indus Waters Treaty, which tackle joint technical concerns, have yielded some success in fostering collaborative arrangements, imposed resolutions have often lacked credibility due to sovereignty concerns and national rhetoric. The research findings indicate that Indonesia is posited as a potential neutral facilitator, drawing from its diplomatic accord and cultural rapport with India and Pakistan. Its non-aligned disposition, coupled with a track record of brokering peace within its region, uniquely qualifies it to sensitize dialogues and engineer technical partnerships inspired by its own experiences with autonomy accords. Although challenging, strategically implemented Indonesian-led confidence-building initiatives could gradually nurture mutual trust and cooperation. For the transformation of the Kashmir dispute to be enduring, it is recommended that a comprehensive strategy be adopted, placing a premium on reconciliation, inclusive policymaking, and the primacy of human security. Crucially, any process must incorporate localized reconciliation dialogues and bottom-up mechanisms to ensure legitimacy and resolve deep-seated grievances

Abstract

One of the important issues in international commercial arbitration is the arbitration board, which consists of one or more arbitrators to resolve commercial disputes based on the agreement of the parties to the dispute, or by the arbitration organization or the court, and is dissolved after dealing with the commercial disputes. In this research we examine the competence of the arbitration board in international commercial arbitration, focusing on its ability to make decisions regarding jurisdiction and the examination of the existence of the arbitration agreement. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method and relies on library and electronic sources for data collection. The findings designate that the arbitration board, per the Afghanistan Arbitration Law and the UNCITRAl Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration, has the authority to determine its jurisdiction and observe the existence of the arbitration agreement. It is established that the principle of competence-competence is widely accepted by the laws of many countries. However, it is elucidated that the subject matter jurisdiction lies with the agreement of the parties involved. The research highlights the importance of the arbitration board in impartially resolving commercial disputes evolving from economic and commercial contracts and emphasizes its role in achieving quick and fair dispute resolution.

Abstract

The development of Islamic banking in Indonesia, with the Murabahah financing contract dominating, is not free from disputes among the parties involved. Dispute resolution can be settled out of court (non-litigation), one of which can be through the National Sharia Arbitration Board (Basyarnas) and through the Religious Courts (litigation). Legislation has regulated the absolute authority of the institution responsible for litigation dispute resolution through Article 49 letter (i) of Law Number 3 of 2006, as amended in Law Number 50 of 2009 Regarding the Second Amendment of Law Number 7 of 1989 and Article 55 paragraph (1) of Law Number 21 of 2008 Regarding Islamic Banking, namely the Religious Court. A conflict of norms appears in the Murabahah financing contract, which still includes a clause for dispute resolution litigation in the District Court. This raises the first issue formulation regarding what the legal consequences are for the parties in the Murabahah financing contract with the choice of forum clause in the District Court when resolving litigation disputes and what choice of forum clause is stipulated in the Murabahah financing contract to provide a balanced position for the parties when resolving litigation disputes.

Abstract

The growth of information and communication technology (ICT) has changed the way people live their lives and conduct business. The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, characterized by the use of digital technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), has created a new economic environment known as the “digital economy." In this context, digital economy policy becomes very important to support sustainable economic growth and improve national economic resilience. This research aims to analyze Indonesia's digital economy policy in developing the digital economy in the context of Society 5.0 and Industrial Revolution 4.0. The main focus of the research is how government policies can strengthen the national economy. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative method with secondary data collected through a systematic review. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including relevant journals, research publications, reports, and websites. This qualitative approach generates descriptive notes and data that are integrated into the text for further analysis. When policies are implemented correctly, that is, by paying attention to and realizing the various aspects that have an impact on the policy implementation process, it will produce the maximum benefits, including the Integration, Interactivity, Transparency, Control, and Accountability (IITCA) factors. The research shows that digital economy policies have a significant positive impact on economic growth and resilience. The implementation of the Digital Economic Agreement Framework (DEFA) is expected to strengthen the MSME sector, attract investment, encourage innovation, increase productivity, and create high-quality jobs. The establishment of the Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Center (DISC) also plays an important role in supporting the transformation of businesses and organizations towards a sustainable digital economy. In addition, the Indonesian government has improved digital infrastructure, such as 4G networks, 5G technology, and low-earth orbit satellites, and launched digital literacy and skills programs to reduce the digital divide and strengthen economic resilience. An effective digital economy policy can be a powerful instrument to strengthen a country's economic resilience. Research results confirm that the implementation of digital economy policies not only drives economic growth but also improves social and financial inclusion. Collaboration between the public sector, the business world, and civil society is essential for the successful implementation of this policy. In addition, transparency and accountability in the implementation of digital policies, such as through the use of blockchain technology and digital payment systems, can reduce corruption and ensure that government assistance and support are well-targeted. Overall, digital economy policies play an important role in strengthening national economic resilience amid the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.

Abstract

The pattern of political culture that occurs in Java Village between the government and the community has different perceptions.  This causes an unbalanced and idealized view. The purpose of this research is to analyze the portrait of political culture in a multicultural society in the change of "Kampung Jao" to "Kampung Jawa" in Padang Barat District, Padang City. This research uses the theory put forward by Sydney Verba, where political culture refers more to the orientation of all members in the group of a system in politics.  The research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The data collection method begins with participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documents. Data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study show that the portrait of political culture in naming the Javanese village area does not involve the local community as the indigenous population. In addition, there is an imbalance of political culture both by those who have the authority (government and society). In addition, the life of the community experienced different ideas or perceptions regarding the change of the name of Jao village to Javanese village. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the political culture between the government and society is not yet included in the category of a balanced and ideal political culture because there is still selfishness on the part of each party, both the government, who feel they have position and power, so that in making decisions they do not include the people or society in it, as well as those in the community who did not pay close attention to changing the name of Kampung Jao to Kampung Jawa.
