Abstract

Every persons have their own unique way of walking which is called gait. Gait can be used to identify a person. Gyroscope is a sensor used to detect vibration and measure acceleration based on direction or orientation. This paper presents an individual recognition based on gait using gyroscope sensor embedded in smartphone. The gait data is processed and analyzed by implementing Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) and k-Nearest Neighbour (k-NN). LPC is used to extract features from gait data. It produces feature vector based on combination of p-previous signal and takes only important value of the feature data. Then, k-NN is used for classification, using some calculation methods such as Euclidean, Cityblock, Cosine, and Correlation distance. The gait signals contain x,y,z axis and the signal magnitude. In this paper x,y,z axis and the signal magnitude are also combined to improve the accuracy. The highest accuracy of 99.58% is achieved using signal combination x-y-z-m. Overall, this person detection system produces accuracy between 50% to 99.58%.

Abstract

Traffic jam is a major traffic problem often found in big cities of Indonesia. It is because the number of vehicles increases annually. Therefore, a simulation to detect the number of vehicles in every lane of traffic is needed to monitor the traffic. Traffic control is also required in order to reduce traffic jam. This paper develops a vehicle detection and counting system using image processing. Detection is carried out using image segmentation which is processed by object filtering and blob extraction. Morphological operators are employed for blob extraction. Testing is conducted using a video obtained from the ATCS Bandung. The video is taken at the Laswi - A. Yani intersection Bandung. Software prototypes are created in C++, using Windows Forms Application as a programming library for Windows and Open CV for image processing module. The result shows that blob detection method can give good results if there is no intersection between blobs of each car. The performance is poor when this method is used for heavy traffic conditions, where the cars are close to each other. The performance level of sensitivity is 91.67%, precision is 61.11%, specificity is 80.55%, f-Measure is 73.33%, and accuracy is 83.33%. The accuracy for vehicles detection on sunny condition is 82.11% and reduced by 76.50% on rainy condition. This method works better in quiet condition, with accuracy of 83.07%, and is reduced by 67.70% in crowded condition. The average processing time is 0.042 seconds when using video, and 0.033 seconds using real camera.

Abstract

Attendance is the documentation of presence and activity in institution. A software has been made to monitor the attendance using face recognition. The software uses camera to capture the image and works on any background color. The aim of this paper is to calculate its performance with sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy using Eigenface Algorithm and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. Face recognition in this paper is based on Eigenface algorithm, using pixel information from images captured by webcam. The image is represented using PCA method. The software is tested using different expressions and accessories in object’s face. The performance of the software indicates 73.33%sensitivity, 52.17% specificity, and 86.67% accuracy. The successful rate in identifying the face for distance testing is 70%, while successful rate of 85% is achieved for object wearing eyeglasses and veil (jilbab). Furthermore, the successful rate for various expression is 85.33%.

Abstract

Power system reliability is one of important aspects of power system operation. Lack of capacity in the generation system will affect reliability level of the power system. System evaluation needs to be done to know whether the system is still reliable to supply the load that is projected to increase 8.2% per year. Java-Bali system evaluation planning period 2015-2024 is conducted in this paper. Load forecast uncertainty (LFU) is one of the parameters that needs to be considered when conducting system planning. It is because load tends to be uncertain. This research uses two scenarios: without and with load forecast uncertainty. Reliability indexes LOLE and LOLP are used to evaluate the Java-Bali system. All calculations are based on a program using MATLAB. The result shows that reliability indexes LOLE and LOLP are higher with considering LFU. It means reliability decreases, rather than planning without considering LFU. Moreover, Java-Bali system reliability indexes meet the PLN’s standard value with the best value acquired in 2019.

Abstract

This paper shows how to implement a combination of Q-learning and backpropagation on the case of agent learning to play Flappy Bird game. Q-learning and backpropagation are combined to predict the value-function of each action, or called value-function approximation. The value-function approximation is used to reduce learning time and to reduce weights stored in memory. Previous studies using only regular reinforcement learning took longer time and more amount of weights stored in memory. The artificial neural network architecture (ANN) used in this study is an ANN for each action. The results show that combining Q-learning and backpropagation can reduce agent’s learning time to play Flappy Bird up to 92% and reduce the weights stored in memory up to 94%, compared to regular Q-learning only. Although the learning time and the weights stored are reduced, Q-learning combined with backpropagation have the same ability as regular Q-learning to play Flappy Bird game.

Abstract

WordNet is an online lexical database. In Computer Science domain, it plays important role in solving semantic interoperability issues. It also helps in many researches related to Natural Language Processing topic. Because of the importance of WordNet, there are many works to develop WordNet into several languages, e.g., Japanese, Arabic, and Indonesian. However, those are still not sufficient to address semantic interoperability issues. Therefore, there are several attempts to form WordNet into machine understandable format, i.e, Resource Description Framework (RDF) model. Still, there is no effort to form WordNet Bahasa Indonesia into RDF format. This paper presents the process of forming WordNet Bahasa Indonesia into Linked Data form. This process involves several phases, which are identifying data sources, data extraction, data transformation, data loading into relational database, and mapping database model into RDF model. The latest is done by using D2RQ framework, resulting the WordNet Bahasa Indonesia as Linked Data format. This data set is linked to WordNet-RDF of Princetown University.

Abstract

Main competency in database learning is ability to design Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD). Generally, lecturer gives task to students to design an ERD with some requirements. These ERDs are then assessed by comparing them with the answers. In practice, the process takes long time and it is possible that the lecturer grades the students inconsistently. Furthermore, plagiarism could be occured without being noticed by the lecturer. This research aims to design and build an application that assess similarity of ERD. The application apply tree edit distance algorithm in checking ERD similarity. ERD is exported into XMI document and then processed using the tree edit distance algorithm. The results show that ERD similarity value depends on number of insert, delete, and rename operation in tree edit distance Algorithm rather than number of difference component.

Abstract

J-bit encoding is a lossless data compression algorithm that manipulates each bit of file data in order to minimize the size by dividing data into two outputs and combining data into two outputs. This research proposes a modification of the J-bit Encoding algorithm by eliminating zero and one symbols of the first output. As a result, the first output will contain the original data without zero and one symbols and the second output will contain the value of two bits that describe the position of zero, one, and byte besides zero and one. The two algorithms are compared by testing four scheme combination algorithms, which are (i) Burrows-Wheeler transformation, Move to Front, J-Bit Encoding, and arithmetic coding, (ii) Burrows-Wheeler transformation, Move to Front, modification of the J-bit Encoding, and arithmetic coding, (iii) Burrows-Wheeler transformation, Move One From Front, J-Bit encoding, and arithmetic coding, (iv) Burrows-Wheeler transformation, Move One From Front, modification of the J-bit Encoding, and arithmetic coding. By using the Calgary Corpus and Canterbury Corpus data sets, the test results show that the best compression ratio is obtained by using a second scheme on average. On the other hand, by using four image files, the test results show that the best compression ratio is obtained by using a fourth scheme on average.

Abstract

This study develops an e-learning system customized to the needs of high school/vocational school level, with a case study of two schools in North Sumatra. E-learning system is developed using Learning Management System (LMS) eFront which is modified according to user requirements. To obtain the results of the e-learning development, a good implementation plan is required, thus, it is necessary to have a good training and evaluation to assess the ability and understanding of the users in using the e-learning system. Evaluation is conducted by measuring and analyzing the results of pre-test and post-test using statistical approach with SPSS 19. A good implementation plan of the e-learning system needs to be prepared at earliest possible stage, including resource readiness, availability of system services, and information technology infrastructure. The results of evaluations are used for decision making related to the implementation of e-learning in schools. The results show that users ability in using e-learning increase significantly, with the mean value of -12.89.

Abstract

Aperture coupled technique is designed to increase microstrip antenna bandwidth. This paper discusses bandwidth enhancement of the aperture coupled rectangular patch microstrip antenna for working on 2.4 GHz. The optimal design is determined by using the AWR simulator. The fabricated antenna is then analyzed using a vector network analyzer (Anritsu MS2034B). The results show that the antenna is able to achieve 110 MHz bandwidth with return loss is less than –9.54 dB. The bandwidth increment is approximately 77.13% higher than the directly fed antenna.
